Fellow soldier arrested in 2 stabbing deaths, police say

www.cnn.com

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A Fort Drum soldier has been arrested in the deaths of two fellow soldiers found stabbed in an apartment near the upstate New York military base, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect, Joshua Hunter, 20, is being held at an undisclosed location in Ohio after being charged with two counts of second degree murder, Undersheriff Tim Dowe told CNN.

The sheriff's office identified the victims as Spc. Waide T. James, 20, of Cocoa, Florida, and Spc. Diego A. Valbuena, 23, of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

There is evidence of increasing violent and homicidal rage overcoming our combat veterans and military personnel being reported in this most recent story of U.S. Soldiers killing U.S. Soldiers from Ft. Drum.

While the motive for the slayings are not being revealed the fact that multiple stab wounds were found in each victim denotes a high level of rage involved in the attacks.

Unlike the Ft. Hood conspiracy that has grown quiet in recent days there appears to be no tie in involved to any form of Islamic extremism or religious motive in these attacks. Clearly though it was a dispute or issue that led to multiple homicides.

The two victims worked in the military Transportation’s Headquarters which at first thought would make one wonder if drugs coming out of Afghanistan are involved somehow except that the soldiers in question served in the Iraqi theatre.

More tragic deaths though of U.S. Military personnel by other U.S. Military personnel on U.S. Soil, leads one to wonder if this will be an increasing trend resulting from 8 long years of war on multiple fronts.

The two men were found dead with multiple stab wounds Tuesday in an apartment at Meadowbrook Apartments in LeRay, New York, Dowe said. The complex houses mostly military families near the main entrance of Fort Drum, he said.

The motive is unknown at this time, Dowe said.

It is stories like this one that could give a person pause to consider the initial conflicting reports of multiple shooters in multiple locations at Ft. Hood then subsequently leading to a cover up.

Clearly soldier on soldier violence within the United States Armed Services is on the rise. One might wonder if some of it is being under reported or covered up when it happens abroad in the actual combat theatres too.

How big of a problem is the U.S. Military facing in soldier on soldier violence.

Hunter's father, Jim Hunter of Ona, W.Va., told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that his son spent 15 months in Iraq and had been back for about four months. He said he had seen his son in October and "seemed to be doing good."

Their service records and the press would beg to differ with you.

As someone entitled to free speech I would say, no, you are incorrect, I have every right to state the fact that they are Combat Veterans, just as you have every right to be in a state of denial.

What is it about freedom that so perturbs you friend?
