"Liberals" the New Hate Group

Not sure what to make of this other than it makes me sad - I thought we could do better than this.

This kind of polarizing hyperbole is directly the result of the efforts of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove and the Bush Family et.al. who raised the level of polarizing politics in the 80's and focused on the use of "liberal" as a pejorative. The same talking points are laid out here again for us - sad really.

Nor do I see what this political opinion is doing taking up so much space on this website. Where is the conspiracy here?

You know sir, one of the problems I've had with the conservative dogma over the years has been that they like to paint certain people with the same brush - they like to group people into neat little categories, assign them common traits, faults, etc. The categories you assign are determined by skin color, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and on and on. This post of your just goes to prove my theory correct.

I loved your rant. If I may, it boils down to "misery loves company" and so the liberal socialist agenda is being thrust on us all.

Americans = major hate group.

We think there's a solution to everything. We decide who lives and who dies based on our prejudices. We try to justify our actions through superficial evidence.

Those who we like lives.

Those who we hate dies.

Boys and girls, men and women, arguing over this isn't going to change anything.
Doing something about it WILL.
I'm pretty sure that the solution to our problems as individuals, as people, and as a nation doesn't have a damn thing to do with conservatism NOR liberalism, but somewhere in the middle. The solution for government is to make it smaller, less intrusive, less powerful, to stop taxation without representation, to stop corruption on a national scale, and indeed to make those responsible for it accountable and to charge those responsible for their crimes and put them away, and replace them with people who are honest, and hold their feet to the fire and put them to work on AFFORDABLE solutions to help those who need it, and to axe the "solutions" we can't afford and that aren't working for us and that are putting our national checking account in the red. Until we ALL stand together as AMericans and countrymen and brothers and sisters and husbands and wives and put our collective foot down, things are going to continue to get worse, and the real solutions are going to be ignored and our way of life and our children's freedom are going to be trampled on by those WE put in charge who don't care, and who don't listen, and who are totally out of touch with OUR reality.
Lets not point the finger of blame at Liberals or Conservatives, but at the self serving, greedy, and corrupt individuals of EITHER group who are financially bankrupting our country, and lets get their a**es out of office.
And above all lets use wisdom and common sense when selecting the ones we replace them with, AND use that same wisdom and common sense when living and making decisions in our own individual lives.

Wow. I was born in New York City and had the precise same experience. Once I was college age I moved out to the forest lands and the difference in quality of life really changed me forever. Thanks for this thread. Everything you said is right on. You should expand your article into a book titled THE TRAGEDY OF URBAN DWELLERY VS. THE JOY OF REAL AMERICA.

I can only say - dont come to Denmark - I have always thought it is funny how USA only have those 2 parties (I know its easier to control the upcomming president, but anyway )

What you call liberal is in Denmark a conservative.

Please let me explain a little thing about the danish parties that will make you laugh.

We have a party called Venstre (translated its: Left) because when the party was founded, it was on the left side !

Then a lot of other leftwing parties through time joined, and Venstre (Left) became a right wing party.

Until this year our priminister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was leader of Venstre (Left)

Now hes is leader of Nato

Anyway, today we have 2-3 leftwing parties - 2-3 midlle paries - and 2-3 rightwing parties

Way to generalize. It's human nature to align with a group and support that group. Our ideals can often merge with the group ideals, sacrificing individual values. Both groups are proving to be nothing more than monkey's throwing feces at each other. Way to preach freedom and practice bigotry.

By definition, Liberalism is about open mindedness and free will. Yup, that sounds absolutely evil to me. Conservatism is about resisting change and holding on to tradition. Both are admirable in their own respects. Neither represent what today's liberals and conservatives practice.

I've said it several times before and I'll say it yet again. This is one tool being used to keep the people divided and distracted. The "them vs us" crap keeps us divided and easy to manipulate. The country will not unite under conservative ideals. The country will not unite under liberal ideals. While these two groups are picking up members and keeping the fight going, the people have little to no power over the government. And anyone who participates in these pointless "No, YOU"! matches is helping everyone else get completely screwed over.

Not all of us can be alike that's why we have liberals AND conservatives.

That's why we have day and night time, hot and cold water....protons and electrons , etc.

Without these differences the world would be a very boring place.

I love life in New Hampshire, fresh air and water. Beaches and mountains. I can ride my motorcycle for 25 miles without encountering a single stop light which is awesome !!

I used to work in NYC as a consultant flying down to LaGuardia every week.
Upon arrival I hated the smell of the city , almost like that of a sewer but I realized the New Yorkers can't smell anyway and are used to that stench they call air !

But as they say, live and let live it is a free country. We define our own happiness by our own paradigms. Those in NYC are obviously happy with the city and hence why they stay there.

I also don't care for Sarah Palin as my President or Presidential Candidate.. I don't care for any of the govt owned candidates.

I have identified myself as mostly liberal because of my position on issues that would seem to be effected by whether or not democrats or republicans are in power. But this thread is causing me to reconsider doing this in the future.

I believe everyone should have access to medical care, not just emergency care. My reasons for this are not entirely humanitarian. I believe the current system is very wasteful and inefficient as well as being inhumane. In other words, I am socially progressive but financially conservative on this issue. Yet many conservatives would simply brand me a communist on this issue alone.

I believe in a woman's right to choose. By current definition this a liberal position, but isn't keeping the govt from interfering with personal decisions a conservative core belief? That does not mean I agree with abortion or disagree with it, it means I think I have no right to impose myself on someone else.


I support the right of gays to marry. Again this is liberal by current definition. But is based on what I believe to be a conservative value, the right to personal choice sans govt interference.

I recently posted that I own 11 firearms. But I forgot to count two pistols, so make that 13. I take my second amendment rights quite seriously. Once again, so much for the stereotype the OP and others have placed upon "liberals".

The current definition of conservative seems to mean that one supports every deployment of combat troops without question. Why so supportive of war? I oppose sending troops to Afghanistan and keeping troops in Iraq any longer than absolutely necessary based on beliefs that cannot be pigeon holed as liberal, yet the right automatically attacks anyone who does not support these wars as unpatriotic, or worse. We were not attacked by either country and these wars are placing us in economic peril. That used to be considered quite a conservative position.

It seems that the OP is saying liberals are just effeminate, egg-headed, misfits. I am twice married and have a child. Nor could I be considered physically unhealthy. Mentally, ....I leave that to others to judge, but I'm happy most of the time.

Believe that if you wish, but it is no more true than saying conservatives are bigoted, inbred fools. The whole left vs. right paradigm falls apart under scrutiny. People are not so simple and uncomplicated as to be stereotyped into two neat groups. If you think that they are then I would suggest that perhaps your thinking has been manipulated.

Turn on MSNBC, Fox, AM, FM or XM and you will hear pundits from either side demonize the other. Why? I think it goes beyond ratings. It is a distraction, a misdirection, meant to keep us all occupied and divided. I cannot believe that all conservatives are in lock step and marching us into fascism. But that seems to be what liberal commentators have to say.

I think what most people ultimately want is the same thing. We want fair economic opportunities, freedom, affordable health care, good schools, safe streets and a govt that is responsive to our voice. We will never completely agree on how to get those things, so we debate and then we vote. Afterwards we all pull together as Americans for the good of our country.

But many of us have allowed ourselves to be convinced that those who disagree with us are not 'real" Americans. Instead, we see those who disagree with us on political issues as the embodiment of evil. For the good of our country we should do away this kind of thinking and ask ourselves why the media has led us down this path.

After reading the OP and your other posts I have come to the conclusion you are the most unstable individual I have seen post on here. I really think if you dont seek some professional help you may end up hurting yourself or others. You should really get your anger under control before it kills you.

You say you moved away from the big city to out in the country small community where things are so much better. Well , I live here in the south in a very small community and alot of my neighbors and friends have different political and religous views but we focus on what we have in common and dont belittle and hate each other for our differences.

Dont know where you moved outta the big city to but in this small community (not even a town) and all of the small ones around we are not all palin loving conservatives who look and act like robotic replicas of each other

Actually even though I am a registered republican I have turned away from the party just because of people filled with hate like you. Even though I dont like Obama and didnt vote for him or Mccain , it has made me so sick and upset to hear all the die hard conservatives at work throw around the "N" word talking about how Obama is ruining the country. The Christian way is an excellent way to bring together warring fighting frightened people of diverse backgrounds. It just makes sense.

We are given enough of everything here on this earth. Everything we might possibly need is here, except understanding.
Now people who are ISOLATIONIST and want to eliminate everything within their eyesight that does not look familiar to them and keep only what is safe and comfortable...these to me are CONSERVATIVES. No opening up to new ideas. They conserve the OLD IDEAS. True, old ideas are generally best but with new problems we need new solutions. Even God created a NEW testament because the Old one was outdated and obsolete.

That is why I made the separation between Liberals in Washington and Liberals you meet down the street from your house. I am not seeing a Liberal agenda being unfolded, I'm seeing the same fascist agenda as that of the Bush years. And it KILLS ME that people are so blind to it that they are missing all the signs.
