****************************************************************************************NOTE*******************
this is a conversation I had with a coworker that I had giving him a ride home. It starts with him then me, etc. I'll explain more at the end
******************

"When I got out the plan was that we were going to invade Iran by december of 2010"

"No kidding? I've always wondered if we were going there or not"

"we are...the plans are already drawn up, ready to go. They have been for a long time. Iraq and Afghanistan is just the beginning. They're the staging grounds. This is a 30 year plan"

"Holy crap(edit).. So it IS the oil?"

"Pretty much and religion. No matter what anyone says, its a religious war. They are no different than the Japanese when they thought it was divine to die in the name of war. Its two different idiologies. We ignored them for long time, but now they have money, weapons and means and desires to kill as many of us as they can."

"Well, why don't we just ship a bunch of laptops, fastfood and all the internet porn they want, that way they will get fat, lazy and stupid like all of us?"

"they actually tried that, but they blow up the restaurants and they already all have computers"

"Wow... so .. December of 2010?"

"Yup... maybe its changed. I've been out for a year, but the last I knew thats the date...man... why the hell did I even say that? I shouldn't tell you this **** .. Well, thnks for the ride.. see ya tomorrow"

"Ya, see ya"

He is Marine on active reserve status. I won't reveal to much about him as I don't want to jeopardize him in anyway. He was in Bosnia, the First Desert Storm, Fallujah and much more. He currently has over 250 piece of shrapnel inside of him.

We cook together at a small restaurant and he pretty quiet. Not to many know to much about him, but since we work together a lot, I ask him questions and eventually he started talking to me about things. His military service was quite extensive and he is really knowledgeable about a lot things happening there.

Anyrate, this was our conversation the last time I took him home. I asked another cook one time, why he didnt have a car. He said "something in Iraq". He is married and they have a nice car, Ive seen her drop him, but I guess something happened there that wont let him drive now (ptsd?)

Anyrate, I want to get more out of him. This stuff fascinates me and I think he he knows a lot more. I want to try find out on what premise we are invading. Like, what is going to proceed this? I asked him "How is that going to happen? I think everyone here is tired of "war, war, war" and Obama is supposed to all about peace. Seems kind of hard to pull off in less than a year.. " He just answered "Thats the plan, thats all I know.." Almost like he does know more, but thats all he's saying".. I don't know

So does any former military here know anything about that date too?

Ugh... I was hoping it would take longer than one reply for this to come up.. Ok.. here ya go...

1) It's not short order. Its gourmet. Its bouillabaisse and 12 hour smoked, hand sliced prime rib. Perhaps a little out of your price range, but try it sometime...

And I didn't feel like boring anyone with credentials but since ya asked (more-or-less).. He didnt just go do some 4 year term. He was in 15 years, sent home for medical and moved in active reserves. His tours were extensive. His wife works at a hospital and he goes to school. His father was a professional chef and so was his grandmother. This is just something to do until school is done... So again, dont trivialize.

Ive seen his pics. I've watched his vids. I'll admit its odd to find him in a kitchen, but I'm glad every night he's there. He's the best I've ever seen.

And thats why I asked a question. I'm grateful for your valuable input though. Keep up the great work!

With all due respect:

1) There have been many people who have hoaxed ATS (does not mean you are)
2) Most of the hoax's were i was told, overheard.....
3) Bluntly, at ATS we have seen posts to that effect for years, at least 5+ years
4) If a total stranger told you this story with nothing to back it, would you believe them at face value???

but his

I've been on ATS for years. I understand the amound of BS that gets posted. Its easy to spot. Had I said something like "and he has the detailed reports that he showed me" or something ridiculous I could understand the skepticism.

I'm assuming that if he know it, someone else might too, hence the question.

I figured that war with Iran is inevitable, but the time frame seemed really soon and thats what I wanted to know. It took us a couple years after 9/11 to go to Iraq, how could they pull this off?

Again, I understand about the hoaxes and kids trolling, this is neither. And really, it isnt anything groundbreaking, like I said, if he knew there has to be others.

I am glad you understand the difference between questioning things and outright calling you a liar. (seriously)

Frankly, it is reasonable and plausible.

That said, I would "imagine" that information like that would be rated secret at the very least, if not more so.

Giving out that kind of information is basically treason.
(If the operation were hurt by the info going out and they preparing for it...)

Wow! A reasonable person on ATS!
I truly appreciate your attitude!
I have been told much nonsense by people over the years, I never take anything at face value> Military people can be just as crazy or full of it as anyone else, they get no special credence from me.
I don't think it's in the interest of the US ( or anyone else ) to go to war with Iran. I think conflict will be avoided by both countries, as a war would be very detrimental to both. I don't think Isreal will attack Iran either unless directly threatened.
My prediction is no US-Iran war unless something drastically changes.

reply to post by Israel Versus Iran

Israel has said by Christmas THIS YEAR, if Iran hasn't got it's act together, they will hit them.

Iran were in the news again today and the UN has told them to cease all activity in their secret (not) facility.

I just hope the UN doesn't waste their time with another completely useless sanction that Iran will just ignore.

Timing wise, I say quite soon, definately not the end of 2010.
