WHO are they?

When you log on and look for something to read, who are those members that capture your attention?

Who's on your "must read" list?

For me that list includes (but is certainly not limited to):

Loam for Fragile Earth and Economic stuff
OBE1 for economic stuff.
jefwane for economic stuff.
Soficrow for Medical Issues and Pandemic stuff.
etc... (don't feel sorry if your left out, after almost 6 years, I assure you the list is long)

An awkward position to be in but, over the years many of the people I enjoyed reading became mods, so you'll understand this apparent cliché "thumbs up" to my my fellow mods (on any topic that they are passionate or knowledgeable about) but it's far from cliché... it's true.

Many are on my "must read" list.

Who are some of yours?

I don't keep such list. Time to time, anyone can contribute decently.

But yeah, some posters qualify with more frequently with good posts. Generally I like those who are not just casting their - often imbalanced -opinions, but the inquirive ones, that are ready for conversation.

I understand.

but

Is there really not one single person who doesn't make your index finger click that mouse button?

I find that hard to believe.

So many amazing members to choose from, waaay too many to list ...

But one stands above the rest: mister.old.school

He is the very definition of a CT and one of the smartest people I've ever come across, and not just on the internet. I find myself jonesing for his threads.

Like I said I don't want to even start listing other members because I will undoubtedly forget someone and inadvertently insult them or sell them short ... also, one of the great things about ATS, is that I can log on any given day and someone will eventually blow my mind away with new information or a new way of thinking. That is actually precious anticipation that is quite rare in life ... the potential is always here for something new, and that is no small thing.

I completely enjoy the content of the members already posted but I must also add schrodinger's dog because I just love a dose of dog-like wisdom with my coffee in the mornings.

I'm also always interested in the perspective of Benevolent Heretic, Skyfloating and FlyersFan, even though I don't always agree with one of them...

karl12 typically posts on mind-bending topics that will pique my curiosity.

Really, I am interested rather on the topics than the writers. This is how I've always been. Of course, some writers are just more coherent on various topics than others, but it is not my basis for qualifying. The content is what matters, not the shell, even it may sound sanctimonious.

Even if I see a topic written by a renowned contributor (there are many), I don't necessarily read it thoughtfully through if the issue being addressed won't resonate with my interest.

However, I am aware of the possibility that I may miss something relevant - and furthermore, in any case, I am not judging other people's habit to read the topics according to it's writer- No, this is just my style.

Sincerely,

-v

I agree that it is the subject that counts, you never know when someone that you previously disregarded will suddenly perfectly nail a different subject, or you might run into someone you hadn't seen before.

That being said, if I see ProtoplasmicTraveler I ALWAYS stop to read it.

I would have to say......Jedimiller, specifically his "dating history" thread.

Do I get a prize if I say Gools?

I tend to notice the thread title primarily, and that is what causes me to read it. There are one or two members whom I might be inclined to skip reading their threads.

Nope.

Not looking for praise just thought this would be a good idea to spread some kudos to those whose contributions you appreciate and make ATS what it is.

A bit of a pat on the back and recognition doesn't hurt.

Too many great people around here to choose from, and unfortunately I probably don't spend enough time here to know many well enough, but this (listing the must reads) is a great idea for me for personally for those times when nothing current is capturing my attention. Thanks.

Good brain rattler, Gools. There are people > definitely make a point to click on when I see their name on the recent Threads list, whether as thread author or participant. In no particular order-

mister.old.school
loam
Valhall
Benevolent Heretic
Phage
buddhasystem
Astyanax
skyfloating
TheRedneck
TheBandit795
Doc Velocity

And a few I haven't seen around awhile and have really missed

Cug
dr_strangecraft
Tom Bedlam
queenannie38
thelibra

A very small sampling of some members I really enjoy reading.

Only clicked on this thread because you were the author.

I figured you had something interesting to talk about.

My favorites are too many to mention. But I must say that I've seen some very good threads come from the newer members lately.

I agree...

Sometimes we forget that even though the "Date Joined" may be yesterday, the member may have lived a full and interesting life that they are willing and eager to share with us here....

I would give a shout out to ATS Member DonWhite . Don and I rarely agree on anything but he is a constant source of intellectual stimulation . A couple of other members who no longer post on the boards also spring to mind .

Cheers xpert11 .

I like queenannie38 too. Reminds me a lot of a friend of mine in that she's really hard to keep up with sometimes but when I'm lucky enough to do it, it's pretty amazing.

There's a lot more but off the top of my head, I like to read what MikeboydUS is thinking about.

Zorgon - Always has his ducks in a row, and facts laid out straight.

Republican08- Always speaks his mind honestly and sticks to his guns.

Zazzafrazz- Some really cool topics coming from that chick, smart & fun.

Spooky Fox Mulder- Speaks for himself, I don't need to promote him.

MysterE- Just because I like his Avatar! No just kidding, I like his work.

For now those are the ones who come to mind first.
