I am all for the anti-government Militias, cause that means that the government has one more task to do. As long as they are peaceful, then it is their right to assemble and form that group.

These attitudes and strategies will just harden militia members resolve and continue to underscore the real and present danger in today's society and government, because when you are right you are right, and you don't need a talking head to echo what you already know in your own.

Everything our government and mainstream media does speaks of desperation and manipulation and sooner or later they will hang themselves in that process if given enough rope, and they sure seem intent on stealing all the hemp they can lay their hands on!

The militias will continue to gain committed members and strength and thanks to the mainstream media won't be burdened with the nay sayers and wishy washy types.

Our government has reached the point a good bit ago where it is too clever for it's own good!

Well put, my friend!
Americans should remember how a rag-tag group of men under George Washington managed to defeat the mighty forces of the British Empire, at a time when Britain "ruled" the world.

Francis Marion, the swamp fox, and his men are heralded within militia organizations today, and his tactics have been shown to defeat even the greatest armies. One need only look at the Viet Nam war to see that. The "army" that the militia may indeed end up fighting will not be our Brave soldiers, but rather a weak group of fat, corrupt politicians whose day will eventually come.

What we have my dear Professor is a failure to communicate. Specifically the Powers that Be failure to communicate that while they look to abscond with over 11 trillion dollars in thefts of Wall Street retirement savings of the citizens and the taxpayer’s treasury is that they are scared witless themselves and had to reach deep into their bag of tricks to bring us a President named Barack Hussein Obama. While the jury is still out it is likely he is a foreign national and someone who has been trained by radical splinter groups funded by the CIA and Military Industrial complex since he was a child. He is perhaps the most convoluted, hypocritical, left brained thinker to ever sully the people’s house in Washington with his gross distortions, blatant and transparent lies, and mediocre and lackluster performance as Chief Executive and Commander in Chief.

His 2 billion dollar Madison Avenue/Hollywood 4 year long campaign for President has the bankers and military industrialists and their media cronies written all over it.

It speaks of an utter desperation on this criminal cabal’s part because it represents them playing the race card in a truly divisive, truly distracting divide and conquers way. Is there any wonder that not one prominent Wall Street figure has been charged with a crime with people like Obama, Franks, Geitner, Reid, Pelosi and Bernanke watching their backs?

The last act of a government is to loot its treasury and clearly the Council for Foreign Relations longtime agenda of establishing a one world government on the ashes and ruins of the United States of America is just around the corner in their demented, tyrannical and criminal minds.

Yet like so many despots and tyrants before them stabbed to death on the Senate floor and their severed heads mounted on pikes jeered by angry mobs this latest crop too is overreaching in its unmitigated greed and gall and overly ambitious agenda for their still exists an albeit small but highly disciplined, highly intelligent, highly committed, and highly resolved hardcore group of real Americans who absolutely will fight if need be against even the longest odds to preserve and defend the too long disregarded constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.

These Americans have formed militias, they do train for a whole host of contingencies, they are skilled, and practiced and well armed and remember those haunting words from our forefathers and that most valuable and important lesson of all “From time to time the Tree of Liberty needs watered with the blood of despots and tyrants”.

There is no shortage of despots and tyrants abroad in this land today. A government that would throw its own citizens in jail for not buying health insurance from it, a government that would tax the impoverished people for the exhausts put out by their very automobiles, a government that would hand trillions of dollars to the world’s richest men to bail out their fraudulently run companies that bilked millions of Americans out of their life long retirement savings could in fact be made up primarily of nothing but despots, tyrants and criminals.

That tree stands to be fed like it has never been fed before. Those criminals in Washington operating with the thinnest veneer of legitimacy should take great care in the days, weeks and months ahead on every vote, on every bill, on every policy initiative and statement for while the array of preplanned obstacles and divisive manipulations are extensive in their aim of distracting and dividing the people into an ineffective and confused mass there is one group that is not confused at all. One very astute, well armed, well considered group of citizens who call themselves militia that shall not go quietly into that good night.

Nor should any of us! Long live the United States of America and freedom forever ring true over every hill and dale.

Obama is the best thing that has happened to this nation since George Washington. Barrack Hussein Obama and is administration is the straw that is breaking the proverbial camels back, and backed into a corner and against a wall I would still very much expect true Americans to come out fighting with steely resolve.

To my American buddies. Why all of a sudden have militia groups popped up like this? Organizing citizens, informing them with solid evidence in regards to government corruption and draconian laws, getting a real debate started is good. But are these militias only up in arms because it's Obama? Or has America actually reached a point where they look back over the decades and see a pattern regarding the governments tentacles wrapping around and squeezing the life out of your country and countrymen. I only ask because if it's the first reason you are still in trouble. I just hope they want real change and don't buy into the whole democrat/republican sideshow.

Very well put, my good friend. It does indeed take a great deal for Americans to rise up, but that time is soon coming. It will come when it is least expected by those who think that they control the situation. What they fail to realize is that they are digging a hole so deep, that there will be no way for them to climb out when that time comes.
May the tree of Liberty grow and flourish!

The unemployment extentions are the only thing holding it back right now.

You're right, a lot of people don't have any idea how bad it will get when people have no source of income. Sure they passed another extension, but if your benefits don't expire before Jan 1st of 2010 you won't get the latest extension.

The National Employment Law Project (NELP) released a new analysis finding that one million workers will become ineligible for unemployment benefits in January 2010 unless Congress reauthorizes the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's unemployment insurance programs by the end of December. The critical benefits provided to jobless workers by the ARRA are set to expire at the end of the year, which means that even with the latest 14 to 20 week extension enacted in November, 30,000 workers a day will be left without any jobless benefits in January. By March, the number without federal jobless benefits will swell to nearly three million workers.

They say the job market won't recover until 2014, so what are all of the unemployed going to do ? Yet this government does nothing to keep. or bring jobs into this country, and they sure aren't doing anything to get the illegals out and prevent them from taking the small amount of jobs that we still have here. Some people have no idea just how ugly it's going to get when three million people are faced with homelessness and hunger, especially those with children.

Yeah i'd say the time is ripe for the militia movement.

The reality is these militias have existed for decades and decades my friend. They are nothing new. What is new is a government becoming so corrupt it sees a threat in every independent and self reliant American.

Militia membership is growing in recent years but the reality is that there have been standing militias in the country since the end of World War II when the military industrial complex and the army didn't stand down as has been our previous Constitutional way.

I was first taught conspiracies as a small boy in the early 1970's and militias and people concerned about the ultimate direction a government run but technocrats, military industrialists and bankers already existed then.

Obama and his administration would love to put decades of growing government corruption and erosion of the constitution and intrusion into the lives of the citizens into a warped notion that its all about him because he's black. What an ego! It's all about 9-11 and 11 trillion dollars of thefts from the American people and the treasury and a military industrial complex that won't stop taxing us to death to make a profit off of putting people around the world, many of them innocent and peaceful people to a violent death for profit.

Obama is just a puppet to far more powerful forces and men. He means nothing in the scheme of things. Like all of our Presidents in recent decades he is an empty suit and talking head marching to the beat of the corporate drum.

You really don't have a clue, do you? When a group is against the Republicans, they are grass roots community based organization. When a group is against the Democrats, they are a racist anti-government militia. That's it plain and simple. I went through this crap in the 90's while the Clinton Administration was in office. Everything from American Legion posts to Boy Scout troops were labeled militias. You think the Patriot Act was bad, you should have seen the legislation that Clinton tried to run through to counter the so-called militia threat.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you are never going to see a mass armed uprising in the US. Contrary to popular belief the US military is not comprised of mindless zombies who just exist to kill people. If there ever arose a situation where it was bad enough for the citizens of the US to overthrow their Government, it wouldn't be much of a fight. The majority of the military would either join the uprising or just lay down their arms.

I noticed the Second Amendment being mentioned here. Here's something to think about. The Second Amendment is not ment to protect hunting and sporting weapons. Notice how the right to bear arms is tied to the People's right to form militias. A very strong case can be made for the Second Amendment protecting the rights of the People to posess military grade firepower. Next time you want to do some research, look at the history behind the term "town square".

I truly believe that the reason that militias have grown, is due to the cumulative effect of the destruction of Liberty and our Constitution in the last several decades. Americans feel more and more powerless to control their own destiny, because the "power" of the ballot box has been erased by the collaboration of the two parties, or rather than one party-the Republicrats. There is no real difference between the original two. There is no one person or issue that has caused this, but rather a steady and rather rapid erosion of Constitutional rights, caused by every single arm of the government. One need only look at court decisions, such as the Supreme Court decision on Eminent Domain, the Congressional actions, such as the Patriot Act(how ironically named!), or the "executive decisions", such as the pardoning of criminals who committed such serious economic crimes against the citizens of the United States.
No, dear sir/madame, it is not merely Obama, that brings this outcry, but rather the systematic destruction of our most sacred document, our Constitution, for which we cry out.

It's not all of the sudden, the militias have been around for a long, long time tptb would just like to have people believe that it is a recent thing.

Americans have had enough of our government slowly eroding away our freedoms, of strutting around with their chests puffed out attempting to control us and have us serve them when it is they who are supposed to serve us. They care nothing for this country, they care only about the power and money they are able to derive out of the positions that they hold.

We have had enough "patriot acts", "constitution free zones", unjust wars, and bailouts shoved down our throats. We want our jobs back, our country back, and most of our Constitution back. This country needs to go back to be the isolationist republic that it was intended to be.

People never realize what exactly they had until they are about to loose it or have just lost it.

This will prove to always be the case and the case in the great divide that is deepening and widening every day between Washington D.C. and the people of this nation.

Those Americans born and raised here who haven't fallen into a 'victim's' camp or mindset from the non-common sense based school of political correctness will fight for their liberties and freedoms and way of life before they will loose them entirely.

Those politicians that reached to far will realize all to late that there is no jumping back to the people's side of the divide after the depth and breadth of the crimes against the people that Washington has committed.

Though they will no doubt want to I would be very surprised if more than a handful of them will ultimately be welcome and embraced.

This is the ultimate game of brinksmanship where timing is everything.

The only way the Council for Foreign Relations and it's membership of military industrialists, oil barrons and tycons and bankers can win is with impeccable timing.

Sadly for them there is Murphy's law and the fact that the best laid plans of mice and men often turn out for not.

They have a sound plan on paper but they will never be able to execute it with the precise series of events and clockwork that they will need to in order for it to be a succesful plan.

They will become critically exposed in that 11th and final hour, the citizens will all see it and them for what they are, they will be lucky to escape with their lives and will end up seeing their fortunes and freedoms and families stripped of everything their despotic hearts and corrupt minds hold near and dear.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself and whether we might be late for dinner that night. I hope not, I hear it will be meatloaf night!

Here's the thing: These militias say that this has nothing to do with racial undertones, yet when George Bush, Dick Cheney and that entire pack of criminals were running around for the better part of the decade like uncaged animals, you didn't much from these groups. Why?

I agree with militias in theory, but their timing does not help their case at all in the eye of the public or those of us who hate the government just like they do.

Here is the thing, don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Do you care more about politically correct perceptions and giving everyone black, red, white, and yellow a proper chance to screw the people in turn or do you care more about putting an end to bad government.

How can you claim you are worried about bad government and then at the same time dig yourself a divide and conquer trap over racial paranoia that does little but excuse bad government based on some warped perception that if a black man is running it bad he should be permitted to run it bad like the office of the President is part of some affirmitive action program where corruption, lies and destroying the American constitution is especially permitted if the person doing it isn't white?

Sounds like some very self defeating and warped logic. These anti-Government militias have been around a long time and been unhappy with successive administrations what is new is a lot of people who have become more interested in politics and current events because Obama is President hearing about them.

What is new is the record thefts and give aways and new errosions of our Constitutional Rights during the Obama administration.

You are in fact falling into the exact trap that the powers that be specifically laid in selecting Obama to be President at this critical time.

Do you condone making excuses for the problems that just punish us all or do you condone solutions for the problem that help us all.

Obama is part of the problem not part of the solution. A bad leader is a bad leader period.

A corrupt government is a corrupt government period.

The huge blow to Americans of having their 401K's and other savings ravaged at the end of the Bush Administration was the crowning blow. If that had happened much earlier in the Bush Administration, I have NO DOUBT that you would have seen the insurgence then.
In addition, do not forget that it was Obama, the Liberals, and their supporters who began making threats against the Second Amendment.
Those threats were the greatest recruitment effort that could have been done, as far as the militia are concerned.

It truly is so important to remember that these kinds of contentions Professor are exactly why the Powers that Be wanted Obama to be President at this very point in time and space.

People who are accustomed to idol worship, and personality will miss no opportunity to defame those who have the pragmatic good sense to understand that the government has just gone too far to reverse course at this point and is not even trying to will automatically evoke public discontent as being about racism and truly believe it as they do so.

Poor under educated people who lack business and economic and poltical wisdom will and do actually view Obama as some kind of tangible possession of theirs signifying something of percieved value that is intrinsic to them solely based on the color of his skin. That in itself is the empitomy of racism yet it will be those racially inclined people who are more caught up in excusing someone's inept and criminal conudct based on their minority status.

It was a brilliant play on the powers that be's part, and the amazing thing is that the Birth Certificate issue really is real, it's the only way they could have ever gauranteed that such a person as Obama wouldn't double cross them.

The possess the power to break him at anytime simply by exposing who he is and thanks to the way they have squelched and supressed all credible investigations into Obama's citizenship and birth certificate if and when the truth does come out the very same people who imagine any dislike or repudiation of Obama is rooted in racism are going to think that the real evidence of where he actually was born (in Kenya) is being manufactured too for racism.

That act itself of exposing him will likely touch off riots along racial lines.

The truth of the matter is this politically correct world we have been brainwashed and forced indoctrinated into where people's collective feelings become more important than the truth is the kiss of death for this nation.

It has some how gotten to the point where entire wholesale groups of people imagine the constitution is about gauranteeing them sustaining state services as opposed to truth, justice, liberty and the right to self determination.

This Obama is a man so arrogant in fact he makes it out to be that even seeing his birth certificate and proving his eligibility for the job is beneath him and racially motivated when it was his own family that created the controversy by saying he was born in Kenya.

No matter what color you paint Obama in, even if it were every last one in the rainbow he would be an arrogant person of no integrity and no competence in all of them.

IMO the militias an like an armed wing of Independent voters who have no representation in govt. If you can't vote for change, you can fight for it.

The militias were there, and probably growing, during the bush criminal fiasco, the DC mafia and or media just hadn't turned them into the boogie man. If there is anyone to blame it is oblahblah, not because he's black... because he was such a convincing liar.

obamas slick used car salesmen lies about change, cleaning up DC and accountability were believed by a-lot of people (suckers) who now feel betrayed and are pissed.

They cant in good conscious go back to the war mongering republiclowns, and it's obvious obama and his lock step democlown cronies stink just as bad.. guess who is there and feels their pain? the militias.

If DC is going to ignore free thinkers who laugh at the silly 2-party system, where else is there to go? the media marginalizes 3rd partys / alternate choices to the point of hopelessness... if these folks votes no longer matter, the American way of democracy is dead to them and it's time to get armed and be ready to defend yourself against the violent criminal oligarchs that have hijacked the system.

Pay close attention to the cruel, inhumane, insulting to humanity way in which the US govt treats human beings in Iraq / gitmo.. don't think for a second they wouldn't do you the same way..

I noticed that the article basically called the Militia members ignorant red neck racist out to get the black president because, well, he's black and liberal.

Basically they are trying to issolate the Militias, by making them into the bad guys the general society turns against them.. the people believe what ever the news man tells them to believe, they are ignorant.

But with an ever worsening economy, especially in the once industrial areas, Militias will continue to grow, whether a Conservative or Liberal government is in office.

Also..

Anything quoting the "Southern Poverty Law Center" is propaganda..

The reality is that the powers that be, the Council for Foreign Relations types, just have no respect at all for the American people or any people for that matter.

The open contempt that government displays now for entire swaths of multiple types of citizens is truly frightening.
The media and politicians basically don’t even attempt to hide in fact they promote the notion that if you don’t think in politically correct ways per the White House, House and Senate leadership that there is something mentally wrong and maladjusted about you.

Gone are the days when dissent was the American thing to do, when honest debate or even just questions were welcome. The people who support the administration and the house and senate leadership and the mainstream press are basically flat out being told anyone who doesn’t think like us is a danger to us.

The use of fear and mistrust, suspicion and indignation has basically obliterated any intelligent discourse or debate in the country and it’s not happening by accident. It is a well planned, well coordinated effort by Washington and the Media.

It reminds me very much of Mohamed Ali’s famous rope-a-dope of just leaning into a cornered opponent and just not letting up to give them time to think or make a strategic move only instead of uppercuts and jabs with fists, it’s a swine flu to the chest, a bailout to the head, more troops to Afghanistan to the stomach, sanctions against Iran on the chin, National Health Care to jaw, cap and trade to the gut, War on Terror to the head, followed up by another bailout to the stomach, followed by the War on drugs to the groin, and then a stern warning about housing in the West Bank.

The agenda shifts from one critical thing to the next day after day to the point just trying to follow it and the progress on any one of them is as daunting a task as keeping your eyes on the ball as it spins around a roulette wheel, you literally have no idea what spot the ball is going to land in tomorrow.

Meanwhile the constant tool to sell things is fear and hate, fear that without this or that the citizen is in some kind of terrible jeopardy and hate for anyone who does dissent or wants to debate or promote a different course. That somehow it’s that latter group of people who are depriving the people of the security they are constantly being told they don’t have and to be afraid and to look for the government to solve everything from global warming to if you have the sniffles.

The government is becoming like an increasingly erratic, violent and rabid dog, and the truth is that no matter how much you loved that mange old mutt once upon a time the only thing to do is to put it down.

We are really at the point where we need strong citizens militias a lot more than we need this government.

Our government and the corporations are just flat out, out of control.
