Fight Club Ten Years Later

For better and often for worse, we've become even more disconnected from ourselves. And even more narcissistic. People text, they twitter, they communicate online instead of talk on the phone or in person. They create alternate identities and pretend to be tough in, of all places, chat rooms, and blogs. Can you imagine a flame war in a biker bar? It's no surprise Fincher's now making a movie about the social networking site Facebook. Tyler Durden would now be a viral creation.

Things happened in the nineties. There was a creative flow going where people were writing great stories, making great movies, great music, and technology was leaping foward in giant bounds. It seems the last decade has been nothing but one long hang over. We have all became a copy of a copy of a copy.

You can't go to a biker bar and tie one on anymore, because chances are you will get busted trying to drive home for a DUI. In this giant prison in which we live, known as suburbia, everything is too far away to walk, and prices are too high to afford a cab, so we sit home, or go to starbucks and meekly exchange glances as we read our books or magazines of surf the internet.

Anyway, something to keep in mind as the Christmas shopping season approaches.

I promise you, there are still creative people living.dying to make true art from the heart and the mind. I am sorry that the media has purchased every venue that was once a open-game for all artists to contend.

But...good news is....the media is falling and Independent art is EVERYWHERE! You want good creative works? Then just look in new places....there is MORE music, movies, paintings, sculptures, cartoons. etc etc out there in the indi-sector then there EVER was in the mainstream.

Don't worry...this is a the second Renaissance...the tools to make blockbusters are all coming to the hands of poor artists. We are now being gifted all the ability to do it as big as those controlled by the media.

There are movements of art, groups, collecting together and marching...watch for them.

And if they are wearing Masks...salute those heroes.

Yes I organize such a group myself, and have become involved with a couple of others.

Change is coming, we just need to make it happen.
