As to the issue itself, I'm in agreement with the Scottish Government on this one.
Airguns are neither one thing or the other.
They're insufficiently powerful to convincingly fend off an aggressor, yet they're too powerful to be mere playthings. Their use is mainly confined
to boys in their late teens, as a tool by which shoot targets or passing wildlife.
I've seen the results of airguns, I used one myself in my mid to late teens. We shot rabbits in the most cruel fashion imaginable & I'll take to the
grave the image of a rabbit I shot perhaps 20 times and yet which still lived, until my Father caught my friend and I, despatched the rabbit and then
gave us the beating of our lives.
I don't think teenagers today have progressed much further up the evolutionary ladder than the boy I was ; I think airguns must be prohibited.
