Alien light beam paralysis discovered?

Interesting...is this the first step towards what people have reported about aliens using light to paralyze humans?

Set your ultraviolet rays to stun. Researchers have now developed a molecular on-off switch that can paralyze animals when they are exposed to ultraviolet beams. The animals that scientists experimented with — pinhead-sized worms known as nematodes — stayed paralyzed even when the light was turned off. When exposed to ordinary light, the paralysis wore off.

It certainly has a ways to go to be the equivalent of what is reported in some alien encounters, but I do find it quite fascinating that we have at least stumbled on to proof that it works.

Another piece in the alien puzzle or just another piece of tech that we have invented that ties so closely to reported alien encounters? Still waiting on the sonic boom silencer though, at least the aliens still have that!

That's easy! All we have to do is design a craft that can fly extradimensionally so sound cannot pass to our limited perceived dimensions.

I think it would be the same as if a hare would stay still on the road when the headlights of an approaching car shine on it.
