I for one am sick and tired of the MSM its apparent by now that the MSM has an agenda with covering the current president with favor and praise, covering positive stories and burying real news stories that are either against the current white house administration or programs and policy it supports, such as Fox news covering the ACORN scandal and the MSM not picking the story up until 3 weeks after the story broke and how often the MSM paints the conservatives as villains and moron's even when a conservative give's facts and figures and proof to what they are supporting. case in point i would like to share a link the a intelligent gentleman named Andrew Klavan that should perhaps confirm what i have said or if you're a skeptic challenge your belief structure slightly. Also i would like to ask fellow ATS'ers what idea's do you have for battling the MSM or at least ensuring they act like real journalists and start covering the actual news again rather then Obama fluff pieces.

Unfortunately, real journalists went out of vogue decades ago. CNN started the trend towards brain-dead talking heads, and the others followed. Even the newspapers fell to the lure of sex, personality and empty-headedness, as a replacement for hard work, facts, and true journalism.
Once the journalism schools succumbed to the lure, it was all over. Even the research courses at most schools today concentrate on using the internet to research, and pay scant attention to personal contact, undercover work, and other tools of the real journalist.

I'm no Obama fan, but focusing obsessively on this one person is missing the point. In the grand scheme of things, Obama is basically just a pathetic symbol of America's crumbling standing.

Where the MSM is REALLY dropping the ball is in the lack of coverage of the systemic financial risk that the bailouts and socialization of large financial players have created. We stand on an economic precipice of unprecidented severity, and if we go over it will quickly turn into a raging social inferno. The responsibility for this one is SYSTEMIC in that it spreads beyond any given individual. It's much easier to blame an individual like Obama, or even a group like the lead investment banks, but they are a small part of the big picture. The looting of the Treasury and the movements of the Fed represent a grotesque hijacking of American prosperity and the gutting of the middle class. If the press was on the ball about this, people might be able to start to find a solution. Unfortunately they are aiding and abetting this historical pillaging.

i completely agree i mean it was chris matthews himself that said that obama and i quote gave him a thrill up his leg, this is blantant irresponsible media coverage and story burying and MSNBC is more guilty of it then CNN who should quite frankly know better and the MSM will bury any story that paints a true light on obama, the editor of wired magazine and the editor of Newsweek both said on i believe face the nation that a week after obama was elected they were starting to be afraid because they realized they and the country really knew nothing about Obama. The MSM

It's pathetic that our msm has come to this, they have long lost their educational value and only focus on entertainment of the masses. I hate to say it but economically it makes a lot of sense. The msm rarely does any sort of in-depth research anymore. It has come to the point where they just repeat what they are told (or discredit each other) It is an extremely lazy form of journalism, if you can still call it that. But hey it's fun to watch!

you make a good point as well but it isnt just entertainment its manipulation and execution of a obvious agenda, ever notice that when a conservative engages a liberal in a debate a conservative will use fact and a liberal will resort to name calling, character smearing or slander(not all liberal) for instance that senator who called obama a liar so the MSM labels him a racist but did the MSM cover or criticize the democrat senator that called bush a loser and a liar in one of his senate conferences?

You have to remember they are owned and controlled by someone.

They dictate and control what is reported.

There is no such thing as a "free"press. Never has been and never will be.

Hearst controlled and even influenced politicians.

Even forums such as this are to some extent controlled.

The way I see it is that the news has gone from providing information, to providing entertainment. Real information is boring and hard. You have to think, you have to sort out the facts from the fiction, you have to pay attention.

News now just shows some attractive taking head oozing sincerity and care, putting on a good show but telling us very little. They make people think they're getting informed, but not requiring the people to think about what they're saying. It's a show, a sort of drama dressed up as real. It is a "tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".

But shouldn't we as a people stand up and shout for accountability within our own media? Until we say enough is enough all we will get is spoon bull crap while real heroes and or advocates of a responsible MSM will be called names and slandered by the current retards in the MSM...

Starred!
You are absolutely correct. Subjective decisions are made by the ownership and moderators. For instance, consider the "Political Madness" forum. As soon as a thread makes claims that Obama is such and such, it is placed in the political madness forum, EVEN THOUGH the claims may be true. Classifying something as "political madness" is a way of discounting the post, even though it may actually be true.
Why should politicians be spared the same criticism that is allowed regarding other groups of people? For instance, posters will make horrendous accusations about religion, churches and other entities and people, and it is not classified as "madness". Think about it.
