Newspaper threatened with ‘another Fort Hood’ for criticizing Tea Party protest

rawstory.com...

Police in Michigan are investigating after an irate reader of the Port Huron Times-Herald reportedly called in a threat to the newspaper after it criticized a local House representative's participation in the anti-health reform Tea Party protest two weeks ago.

"A 60-year-old Port Huron woman threatened to take a gun to the newspaper and 'do what they did at Fort Hood,' according to police," the Times-Herald reported on Tuesday.

The threat referred to the shooting deaths of 13 people at the US Army base in Fort Hood, Texas, on November 5. Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan has been charged with murder in the shootings.

The newspaper says the woman's alleged threat came over an editorial that ran last week which described US House Rep. Candice Miller's participation in the anti-health reform protest as "shameful." Miller, a Republican who represents Michigan's 10th district, reportedly made herself very visible during the November 5 protest on Capitol Hill, organized by Republican firebrand Michele Bachmann.

Among other things, the protest featured a sign that compared Democrats' health care reform efforts to the slaughter of Jews in the Dachau concentration camp.

It just gets more weired with every passing day. Why the hate? It's just politics.

There are crazies on both sides. It is hard for me to feel sorry for the Liberal media freaking out about the possibily of one or two loons kiling them when the Liberal pro-choice movement has led to the systematic killing of 50milion American babies.

I do not support anyone killing a fellow American over political disagreements, but you can't make it out like all Libs or Cons have went radical just over one nut in a million.

With the the amount of bias you get for thinking and wanting the opposite of what the government is trying to push, it is ridiculous.

What the woman has threatened with is the only way to get across a message now.

Have something against the government?
Well the media is gonna block you out.
The tea-parties were HUGE and so were the protests outside of the G20 summits, yet they were not covered at all by the media, and when it was, people were called crazy and made to look like new generation hippies.

This is purely an attempt to paint 'tea party protestors' as crazy radicals - who have no real legitimacy, and should not be supported because they are muslim terrorists.

Its a pathetic, boringly obvious MSM trick to try and derail legitimate protest over disgusting acts of govt.
Glenn Beck - (who is trying to lead the controlled opposition for the NWO) should heed this move by the MSM to brand name the tea parties as terrorists.

Hwe might serve them now as a loony leader - but he would also look good rotting in prison as a terrorist if thats what is going to work for them.

He is looking more and more likely to be stabbed in the .. er .. chest .. by those whose boots he licks, and it couldn't happen to a nicer piece of filth.

The tea parties and events like Michele Bachman's rally on Capitol Hill were fully covered by the media. And it wasn't just Fox News, which always shills for the far right. It was also the MSM like the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. The reporting was widespread and thorough, and generally tried to be impartial.

Yet Tea Partiers complain that they haven't got enough coverage because all the media outlets are not praising them to the skies. And I certainly never saw or heard the press compare the protesters to hippies. It wouldn't be an apt analogy. The hippies were inclined to utopian ideals like socialism and peace, love and brotherhood. The Tea Partiers have a different agenda.

It's tough being out of power, but the last thing Tea Partiers and town hall interrupters are is ignored.

When this is the prevailing ethos, we will all be undone by it.

WOW - and you honestly think that Faux News isn't MSM? You honestly think that the Faux News founded, sponsored, endorsed, and supported Tea Parties aren't a gimmick to lure in unsuspecting sheep?

...alrighty then.

It's never "just politics". These people decide legality, life and death, poverty and wealth, define and dish out "freedom", decide who is a felon and why, wage wars across the globe murdering millions, etc...

What you refer to as "just politics" is essentially the tangible arm of fate which by virtue of its existence makes living your one and only life impossible. What you have accepted as your life is no more than other people generously allowing some time in the prison yard every once in a while.

"Politics" is the reason there isnt a soul left on this planet that knows what real liberty is.

Don't anyone believe this BS. Obama was known to plant union workers in the rallies of Sarah Palin screaming racist slurrs and anti Obama hate. They did the same thing at the town hall meetings. Hitler did the same thing in the past. It's all a ruse to fool people that conservatives are anti American biggots. It's all just a stage show for those who like being spoon fed news.

How you will know this is all made up is that no one will be found and arrested.

and i suppose you have proof of such bold statements?

not everything in life is a premeditated conspiracy.

There are simply loony people out there. There are people who would call a news paper and threaten things like this. There are people who would rape and murder little children. There are people who believe that EVERYTHING in life is a conspiracy that was set up to change thier individual way of life. There are people who believe that the government has it out for them, personally, for no reason other than they posted something on a forum once back in 1998.

Guys have called 911 because Sub Way was out of condiments.

It makes me stagger to think of such lunacy.

I agree this wouldn't even be news if it did not have the Ft. hood association. There are people who make these threats everyday.

Non-event.

That can't be a sane woman. For her country, she is going to emulate a misguided psychopath murdering people in the name of Allah? What in the hell kind of conservative old lady is she?

Really though, using her statements as the prime example of conservatism/teabaggers today is laughably biased. It would be like taking the dirty hippies waving signs on street corners as the common liberal.

A typical one.

Maybe so. But hippies don't threaten massacres, unless the victims are a plate of brownies.

The only "conservatives" to actually go through with killing people are the Christian jihadists bombing abortion clinics. Its all bluster and smoke, the ones threatening people like that are just a bunch of terrified fools rattling their cages because their team didn't win in the elections.

And if you think hippies are "nice", you should definitely look a bit farther back to the brick throwing, lab bombing anarchists wearing tie-dye during the 'fun years'.
