Why post a topic if you aren't looking for other view points.

I'm simply saying this, the MAJORITY find it completely non offensive anymore.

My part of the world, we groan in agony at the growing political correctness going on in this country. It's not like we put the name Redskins on a derogatory thing. It's the name of a football team. A team that "goes to war" each sunday. That "battles" other teams (tribes?). Yes, I'm stretching here a bit.

What about the San Fransico 49ers. named such because of the 1849 gold rush...a bunch of dirty mangy men so desperate they go across the country for just a chance of getting rich.

The Dallas Cowboys...not all of us here in texas are cowboys. I'm offended by that assumption.

Minnesota Vikings....depicts Norwegians in a barbaric light.

I could go on with sports teams...but the fact is this. its a name of a team. I would think a better fight would be to get natives their land back that "whitey" took away.

The names of sports teams are intended to be rough sounding. Afterall, it's an image being put out. Redskins didn't pick the name to be insulting. If anything, it should be taken as a great compliment.

Go Redskins! Beat the Cowboys!

Did the New Orleans Saints pick their nickname to offend Saints?
Did the Notre Dame Fighting Irish pick theirs to offend the Irish?
Did the San Francisco 49ers pick theirs to offend miners?
Did the Cleveland Browns pick theirs to offend Paul Brown?
Did the Michigan St. Spartans pick theirs to offend the Greeks?
Did the UL-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns pick theirs to offend Cajuns?

I'm sure there are hundreds of more examples. When these teams picked their nicknames it was to honor these groups. Naming a team after Indians is a honor to the Indians.

Obvious native american reference...they have an arrow head on their helmet.
