Oh like the crybaby left is any better. They spent 8 years bashing Bush on everything they could find and then when they couldn't find anything they started making stuff like Bush did 911. I guess it is true what they say, payback is a biatch!

You want an apology from Sarah Palin?

Yeah...you picked the right time to stand and be heard.

Thank god shes the ONLY politician making a mockery of the flag, our country and the constitution. Imagine if there were more people discrediting and destroying our country from the highest ranks of the political ladder...

You would have to demand even more apologies.

BURN HER! SHES A WITCH!

And the "only witch" in the whole bucket of scum.

Really.

That was exactly what I was thinking UNTIL I saw the picture. You don't let the flag touch the ground, you don't set it anywhere unless it is folded, You ceremoniously raise it and lower it, simple or elaborate, but you do ceremony.

You don't throw it in a clump on a table and smile for the camera.

It might seem silly but at the end of the day, yes, she owes Americans especially soldiers an apology.

I imagine you are the type who thinks it silly when people put their hand over their heart during the national anthem.

Firstly, if soldiers are fighting for a flag, they best rethink why they're in the military in the first place.

Secondly, I also think that it's silly when people put their hand over their heart during the national anthem. I'm glad it doesn't happen here. I'm all for being proud of your country, but when you're all "HELL YURR I LUV MY COUNTRY I HAV 50 GUNZ A DODGE RAM ND LUV FAST FOOD IM A PATRIOT" that's where it crosses the line. That's not having pride in your country, it's just being arrogant.

I'm not trying to have a go at you. It's just stuff like this can get pretty irritating.

OMG!!! Palin put her arm on the flag????
Oddly enough..I remember reading a story about a contest Barack Obama's Campaign ran. It featured an American Flag mural, splattered completely with black paint..
Interestingly enough..I don't remember anyone then, asking for an apology....strange isent it???

One of the 20 finalists in health care video contest run by Barack Obama’s campaign arm features a mural of an America flag splattered with health care graffiti until it’s covered completely by black paint.

A contestant whose video didn’t make the final-20 cut complains that a video “defacing the flag” won’t do much to help President Barack Obama or the Democrats sell health care reform.

You can go to this link to read the article, and see the video of the American Flag being covered with graffiti, sponsored by Barack Obama

Overreaction to say the least. To touch an American flag is not disrespectful in my book. My American flag is on the flag pole ripped to shreds yet I let it fly. Gets a lickin and keeps on tickin. I believe that the symbolism in the flag is a very secure symbolism and should not be a weak or jealous flag.
Respect of the American flag is relative I believe.

Do you know the flag code?

§8. Respect for flag

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

1. The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
2. The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
3. The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
4. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

As far as I can tell, Sarah violated a few items at once!

And this one was violated by you:

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way

But who cares? We place emphasis on treating a flag with dignity, honor and respect, yet we KILL each other due to differences in skin tone or religion. Logical?

This is satire & pointing out the hypocrisy of the right.. In other words had Obama posed with the flag like this and rested his arm on it, it would be an unbridled hell storm of controversy running on fox news 24/7. But when the right's biggest fan does it.. no one says a peep.

Very true... I could only imagine if Obama did it... It would prove his ties to Al Qaeda
and Stalin

i'm not a "righty".

im tired of people, under the guise of "pointing something out", make fun of people.

this was a post that had the purpose of laughing at "righties"

its in very poor taste.

and as for the flag code, yes, she probably broke that.

i even spent every day in junior high raising and lowering the flag out side of my school. our history teacher, who was a marine, gave us a crash course, and never mentioned that.

i know im guilty of breaking it. sorry.

An apology? How about one from the person that was elected? What has he done other than piss on the American flag figuratively since he took office. He does not comment on current issues but makes his view known on racial (professor) and religious (ft Hood) issues. Sarah Palin has balls bigger than anyone she ran with or against.

The left needs to not point blame at those that were or did not and look at those who are here and now. In the last year nothing has happened in our country to move forward and the time to blame anyone from Reagan to Bush 1 to clinton to Bush 2 is over.

A formal Apology? How about all of those that burn the flag? Are you demanding an apology of them or only those that may look better than you or your wife in Bike shorts?

How about Obama making a decision that will help the men and women in the service? How about the president not bow to foreign leaders like those in Japan and Saudi and act like the president of the biggest most influential country on the planet....

Sarah Palin did a photo shoot..nothing more. Nothing was her choice. get over yourself.

And see, this doesn't really bother me. I can see where you are coming from. That's fine with me if you think it silly to put the hand over the heart. It was really just insight on my part. That all goes hand in hand. Now I know your show of respect is focused along different methods, perhaps deeper and more action based. I would go along with that, but I find the symbolism to still have it's place.

Sometimes I even find it silly to do the hand on the heart, but there is something there. I'm not the gun-toting loudmouth "HELL YEAH" type, and my hand usually goes to my heart before their's. It's not about left and right, it's about respect.

I'm not going to lose sleep over this, but this truly is poorly thought out by her. And if someone were to actually call for an apology... I wouldn't disagree with them.

But if Obama did this everyone says it would be a big deal. So is there something to mistreating a flag or not? So... where do we stop trying to be clever and call farce, and see into the future of the right vs. left game. that's not the point i'm sure, I was just in a serious mood.

get over myself? that is your response? Why not explain to me WHY I should get over myself? Because you say so?

She did nothing wrong as

1. it is NOT touching the ground.
2. It was a shoot for a running magazine and the set was provided.
3. I think fear of her presence is what you do not want
4. Put down the chips and get out there and look like her...

Now, please, tell me why I should get over myself. It seems that all you have is an opinion and everyone has opinions just like an ....well, I am sure you can finish it.

Let us look at a few things in the photo:

  • Arrows show the direction of the light source

Notice that there are three different directions of light sources for the shadows.

  • What is the object making the shadow on the far left of the photo on the wall?
  • Notice the varying skin tones.

That is dark legs compared to the arms, face and neck. Can't all be shadow on her legs since the shadow on the wall lamp shows that there is a light source on that side of her.

  • What is that translucent thing out by the dock that is both in front of and behind the dock?

As for the flag itself, the wrinkles show that it has not been properly stored. It is a cheep flag that was more than likely made in China.

And for the oddest thing about this photo. What is she holding in her hand. Something that large and bulky would be unnatural to both hold and lean on the same elbow.

It looks to me to be a composited shot rather than a set shot.

Today, defacing a flag is an act of protected speech under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, as established in Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989), and reaffirmed in U.S. v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990).

So please get over yourself. I have NEVER seen a republican burn the flag but I can give you a HUGE list of Dems that have...

There is NO desecration of that flag you nerds...

Thats because a real American did it!

Not a Muslim - socialist -

Now if she disrespected another flag... like maybe the Japanese flag they might care,,, today,,, well not really. She could probably justify using ours as an emergency diaper if the conditions permitted...
