What is going on with our country?

www.therightperspective.org...

Just days after the terrorist shooting at Fort Hood, Texas by a devout Muslim in the military, Janet Napolitanto appointed two other devout Muslims to positions within the Department of Homeland Security.

Devout Muslim Arif Alikhan was appointed to Assistant Secretary for Policy Development at DHS. Before his appointment, Alikhan was Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles – in charge of public safety for the city – a position he held since 2006.

In 2007, Alikhan was instrumental in removing the Muslim terror tracking plan in Los Angeles.

Kareem Shora
Also appointed was devout Muslim Kareem Shora, who was born in Damascus, Syria. Shora is now a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

His appointment was loudly applauded by the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Comittee (ADC).

Shora joined ADC in 2000 as legal council and is a vocal advocate for Muslim civil rights.

The ADC reportedly has close ties to anti-Israel professor Rashid Khalidi.

I am not sure how to react to this, because they are devout muslims doesnt mean they are or will be terriorst, right? I served in the army with a devout muslim who was born in Palastine, but was forced to move to Lebanon. when he was 3, his family made the move to the US because his father was a doctor when he was 5, so he was Americanized. He had to qualms about shooting other muslims in Iraq..... So i guess we can say this is more Hoya

Yeah this isn't news.

This is just to villify muslims further and step up the propaganda campaign against the Middle East in preparation for the attack on Iran.

These people are Americans. Probably born and raised there and faith has nothing to do with the job they are about to undertake. If anything it's a good sign that Homeland Security would like to get opinions from people who are actually close to the conflict and could provide insight that white men could not.

Political correctness!

How do you prove that there is no backlash against Muslims after yet another terrorist attack? Why appoint Muslims to homeland security.

Once again proving that political correctness is a philosophy that says you can pick up a turd by the clean end and be just fine.

This is just an act to pacify the citizens in this country who have religious beliefs in Islam. I suppose if the people are qualified for the position in which they seek, you can't legally prohibit them from acquiring the position. If they did it on an account of their religious convictions or ethnicity, it would be a case of discrimination. The Federal Government could expect a discrimination lawsuit as a result.

As long as the candidates are properly vetted through background checks and other security precautions, this should not be an issue for anyone. It is a little untimely for such an introduction of candidates given the background of the gun man at Fort Hood, but non-the-less, if the aforementioned precautions are taken, it is perfectly acceptable.

This is from your profile, maybe time you start adhering to what you wrote?

Topics I Dislike
Anything that spreads fear, negativity without reason or factual information. Petty arguements that tend to lean away from the actual subject matter.

Members of any faith who judge and condemn yet don't understand why they seem like hypocrites. Or those who will only make claims based on their own beliefs without taking the time and consideration to look at historical facts and evidence.

That's all I have to add to this discussion.

I apologize in advance fro simply re-posting a previous applicable post without adding any new thought.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am curious about something.

The term 'devout Muslim' came from whom? Is that how these political appointees describe themselves?

I find it necessary to ask since any public action involving people who are ostensibly 'good' Muslims is being looked upon by some as an automatic 'red flag'. Sort of like being Japanese or German during WWII. Sort of like being a "Porto Rican" or "Black" during the 50's and 60's.

- I won't deny that I have NO confidence in anything that exists hanging from the framework of the Homeland Security Sham, and less from the constant campaign mode politicians that invade our mass media, especially nowadays.

But dammit, describing someone as a 'devout' anything reeks of bias.

Well thanks for that.

But it's pretty obvious to me what is going on.

From the DHS.

www.truthorfiction.com...

Summary of the eRumor:
A forwarded email warning that the Department of Homeland Security has issued a nine page report to law enforcement agencies of a possible increase in activity from rightwing extremist. The email also says that the report profiles veterans, third party members and Pro-Life Christians as possible extremists and was intentionally released by the Obama administration on the eve of conservative tax protest tea parties in order to discredit them.

The Truth:
The document is real and one in a series of assessments issued to law enforcement agencies about potential threats to national security. A similar report on left wing groups was issued in January 2009.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis did release an unclassified 9 page report called "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment." It was issued to law enforcement agencies according to an April 15, 2009 statement by DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The eRumor suggested that the report reflects a troubling mindset in the administration against pro-lifers, veterans, supporters of third-party presidential candidates like Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin, and evangelical Christians.

Secretary Napolitano said her office is “Concerned with its primary mission to ‘prevent terrorist attacks on our nation’’ and "We are on the lookout for criminal and terrorist activity but we do not – nor will we ever – monitor ideology or political beliefs. We take seriously our responsibility to protect the civil rights and liberties of the American people, including subjecting our activities to rigorous oversight from numerous internal and external sources."

I personally believe we should remove all devout muslims from positions of power.

I also believe we should remove all devout christians, jews, or any religious type from positions of power

basically...if you believe invisible space ghosts or gods are leading you to do things in the name of divinity and that the earth is about 6000 years old (give or take), you should be flipping burgers at most...

I see no difference. Insane is insane..all sides have caused bloodshed of innocents in the name of their invisible god-friends and dusty old books of cavemen calling everything a god and miracle.

I think you are wrong Saturn, People who believe in a god are not delusional, it takes faith to believe in something you cannot see, but feel. Some people need that belief in a higher power others don’t. I personally do not believe in the god that has been shoved down our throats but I have looked to the bible for strength and comfort when the time has warranted it.

Some people confuse Jesus as a hateful man, but in reality he was a peaceful man who commanded all humans to love thy neighbor, What I gathered from reading the new testament is this, God is our judge, not man, it is not our place to judge a man since we our all of sin. But it is also important to know that you cant break laws or do as you want without consequences. This is the jest of what I understand. While some Christians will say I am wrong, that is fine, but I will continue to live my life brought up on the principals that were instilled upon me by my parents. They may be Judeo-Christian principals and there is nothing wrong with that.

Could we get off of the religious thing for a moment?

I just want to say that we are all in this together and it doesn't matter if you are a christian, muslim or athiest or you don't think that the sky is blue for that matter.

Can you all see the divide and conquer strategy coming into play here.

Obamas closing of Guantanamo will bring illegally detained prisoners of war in the war on terror here, and some of the sheeple are exited about their new job prospects. Is that what we need for our economy, a prison state?

Not to mention that if such a prison was moved on to US soil, how long will it be until the US Government starts detaining its own citizens in the name of terrorism?

I had this dream about a month before 9/11 happened that there was this middle eastern guy in a chopper firing an automatic weapon at me and the others in my apartment. We all hit the floor, so they moved on and started shooting at the next thing that moved. In any case, they didn't ask questions, if it moved they were shooting at it. That is the kind of hate there is out in the world for america, simply cause most of the world does not know the reality of American life.

Accross the street there were bodies lying on the ground, squirming away from puddles of blood. An ambulance came along and paremedics started hurrying them away onto stretchers all while trying to avoid being shot at. The ambulance car was straight black with no markings. It was not a typical ambulance. I gathered in this dream that the reason the ambulance was black because they were breaking the law some how by saving other peoples lives.

That is the future that Homeland Security is painting for us.

Their faith most certainly could have something to do with having a DHS job.

But even before Ft. Hood there were incidents where Americans were turned into "devout muslims" and then proceeded to become terrorists like the Ft. Hood shooter.

The issue of being a "devout muslim" hinges on who they are most loyal to - the U.S. constitution or sharia law. It cannot be sharia law.

Good point....but people who take a country to war because they think the man upstairs will be fine with it are certainly missing a few cogs. Yes i know that was not the only reason for us being where we are abroad, but there were more than enough times when our great deciders have brought religion into the war talk.

Thats just dangerous, therefore would have to agree with Saturn.

People with religious beliefs can be to easily swayed, and unfortunately when those people are in power, they take the rest of us with them.

Unfortunately it rarely seems to be the ones in power who are in the firing line.

Sorry. What was the purpose of this thread again?

If these people were great candidates for the job, and had relevant skills, then their religious beliefs are not important, unless their religious background is part of their qualifications.

Obamas closing of Guantanamo will bring illegally detained prisoners of war in the war on terror here

So? You mean we're going to have to start treating them like people? Are they going to now be subject to laws?
Are you afraid of the prisoners? Any more than you are the rapists and pedophiles in the federal prisons?

His appointment was loudly applauded by the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Comittee (ADC).

Funniest thing I've seen all day. Do you see the irony there?

Not to mention that if such a prison was moved on to US soil, how long will it be until the US Government starts detaining its own citizens in the name of terrorism?

Are you sure this hasn't already happened?

Ironic? Very.

Homeland Security does not pay attention to the constitution, they have no interest in defending it or making America safer.

I was more less hoping that we could all look at this from an american perspective, not a religious one.

Some might say (and I wouldn't be inclined to argue) that the Department of Homeland Security is much like the FDA, the CDC, the CIA, and many other government agencies which are simply convenient ways to group corporate contracting activities.

They may be 'government' agencies by legislation, but in reality they are just business conduits for the well-connected.

Yes thank you. We know when we have lost our way when private entities such as homeland security acting as law enforcement.

I think it would be safe could call it a coup, or a milita or a radical socialist group.

*cracks knuckles*

Where to start?

So in one manner, you say that these people are Americans and have no ties to any radical Islam what so ever, so that it's not fair to classify them as such.

In your very next breath, you say that its good that homeland security hired them because these people could offer a hands on perspective with what is going on.

...striking.

Then, just top things off, you say that they could offer something that no WHITE man could.

I am not agreeing with the OP. I dont care what faith they are.

But you can't fight bigotry with more bigotry.

Absolutely unbelievable.
