LHC to Finally Start Next Week, Again

www.wired.com

CERN is reporting that the Large Hadron Collider could circulate particle beams through both of its pipes in just over a week. If all goes well, the first collisions would begin soon after that.

The LHC has had a rough time since it first started up in September last year. Just a week after it started up, an electrical problem shut it down again. The first down-time estimate was a day or so, then it became months. And when the repair was just about finished, vacuum leaks in July set it back several more months. It has now been more than a year.

Large Hadron Collider being stopped, from the future?!

And You all thought you'd have to wait until 2012 for the end to come! (Joke!)

Now lets take some bets, we've had gas leaks, birds with baguettes!

My money is on some good old chaos theory. Heard of the butterfly affect? Well this is the "sucking up affect", all the handshakes that Obama is receiving in Tokyo will start a chain of events leading to a hurricane that will batter CERN and destroy the LHC.

Time travellers my butt!

But seriously, if it fails to go the distance this time, surely there has to be some kind of record for most doomed scientific experiment ever?

Any way, lets hope it works this time! Not long to wait! Unless those pesky devils really are stopping it from the future, watch this space!

Looks like that "Time Traveling Bird" that was sent from the future to destroy the collider failed in his mission!

Did a Time-Traveling Bird Sabotage the Hadron Collider?

I guess they'll just have to send "The Terminator" next!

I guess there's a lesson in this though for those people from the future, ...

Never send a bird to do a "Terminators"job.

Silly people from the future.

Oh thanks for linking that thread, I knew there was another one!

Part of me wants it to blow up again, so this future sabotage theory is perpetuated, but the other part can't wait for the science to pan out.

Choices choices!

Yeah, I'll admit that I want it to fail again as well just to see the time traveling theory to catch some more steam.

At least we have a good sense of humor in the future. "Hey Bob, lets not send a note saying that starting the LHC is a very bad idea - let's send a bird with a baguette instead! That would be hilarious!"

Yeah, you seriously have to worry about the scientific community of the future if that was their plan 'A'!

No Problem, Just get a hold of this guy and ask him to send another one of his specisl birds to fix the problem.

Time Machine!

I'll take those odds mate, but my favourite would be some kind of natural phenomena, that strikes only the LHC, a localised earthquake, tornado, flash floood...then disappears into the night, leaving the surrounding areas fine.

I've heard some odd rumors that the LHC project is to collect anti-matter for purposes of creating an anti-matter bomb. This bomb will be used to vaporize a large asteroid heading for Earth..

I'm putting my money on a cow fart drifting into the LHC's radiation sensors and causing it so much odourous distress that it sets off the radiation alarm and shuts the whole place down.

Come on Dude, 6 billion dollars!
What could possibly go wrong? Again.

I am predicting the Time traveling dwarfs will attack cern this time.
Here is my evidence.
