CNN to General Petraeus- Will you run for President in 2012, page

General Petraeus response was obviously no. But the thought of a military general becoming a powerful leader like a president certainly would bridge the gap between America and that of the true Roman Empire. What are the odds? Would people elect a military general to serve as president? I know alot of people wanted Colin Powell to run.

Just think though. This country might not make it to another election if we continue down the path we are on. If the US conquered the middle east territories over the next few years and established a one world government General Patraeus could win by default. Like rome had a military general named Julius Caesar. We too can have a military general to rule over all of us. Just like ancient Rome.

first of all, we have had many generals as president thoughout our history...

General George Washington, General Andrew Jackson, General William Harrison, General Zach Taylor, General U.S. Grant, General Dwight Eisenhower.... its nothing new. secondly i predicted a couple months back that Patreus will run in 2012 and will win....

Generals as Presidents or military is common.

JFK served

Trueman Served

Eisenhower served.(understatement)

Washington.

Roosevelt.

The dude who won the civil war....Grant...

Hmmmm Bush senior WW2 hero

Andrew Jackson....

etc etc

lots of military and quite a few generals were Presidents.

Good point!

I heard somewhere that whoever does run will act as if they are not interested.

Anyhow whiteraven yes there are alot of people who have served become presidents, but to serve is not quite the same as being a military general.

Coffinman, excellent point. However it has been a long time since any military generals have been elected. How did I forget about George Washington?

Anyways it will still be something that we have not seen happen in a long time.

Often times when Military Generals come out to play, there are major advancement in play for political gains and power.

George Washington is an excellent example. Thanks.

A long time....President Eisenhower was a General.

That was late 1950...to 61 and he warned us of the Military Industrial complex.

Not that I don't believe you but I just find it hard to believe that CNN of all people would already be anticipating new Presidential candidates for 2012.

Maybe they are already getting tired of Obama??

Not as of yet. General Patraues was asked that question live on CNN aabout an hour or two ago. I haven't checked to see if they have any clips up yet.
