Mandatory health care in Germany makes malignant tumour therapy now available
for cancer that was hitherto incurable by Europe´s (world´s ?) first ion beam operator.

See www.tinyurl.com...

The cost and energy consumption is gigantic : US$ 178,000,000, the electricity bill
being that of a town of 10,000. More than 70 people are employed in this center :
doctors, nurses, physicists, and technicians.

The US $ 30,000 treatment will be taken over by public health care.

And when it becomes an everyday therapy, what will the cost be reduced to? Recall the price of the first computer? What did you pay for yours?
