Is it? Is it really? You do know what a Police State is, don't you? What you saying is you're comparing the UK with places such as Communist East germany or North Korea, you know, ACTUAL Police States.

Also, the idea wasn't to record content, there isn't enough storage in the world to capture all that for everyone.

This would have just logged who you called and when, or what sites you visited. There was never a plan to record convesations or the content of e-mails.

Funnily enough, all the stuff the Telco's keep anyway, for billing purposes.

The Government is not an entity it cannot "HATE" you. Thats a very interesting concept, do you have any research to prove this idea?

I think it would be a good idea for every email, phone call, text message and other messages to be recorded... However I dont think it is the Government that needs to be doing this! That sucks...

Here is something to try just to see if they are listening:

While sitting alone, or with a group of friends, start talking about subversive things, plots to take over the world, etc., as a joke of course but be serious, and see if anyone starts stalking you or if MIB come knocking on your door.

P.S., (in a whisper ..) "So, guys, are you ready to do this THANG tomorrow? Allah is expecting this of us!"

Any resistance encountered means we have just cause to report them to the Police, and if they laugh at us then complain to the PCC, then the papers who would willingly print the story (they love a good slow-newsday story.) To which the authorities would be named and shamed.

One of the best. Huge groups of civilians insisting on monitoring all leaders and anyone in a responsible public position because we the people suspect them of crimes against humanity, and freedom.

LOL can you imagine hundreds or maby even thousands of people outside the white house with binoculars just watching, hahaha that would be awesome, hilarious and a great message if enough people participated.

Don't worry about what the government is doing, worry about what you are going to do when the Poo hits the fan! Tyranny is always beaten by the people in the end. There will be bloodshed, but it will have to happen to regain our country and our freedoms and liberties. I suggest stocking up on food, water, and natural remedies along with vitamins. Codex is about to take affect, and vitamins and natural medicines will be unheard of. Do whatever it takes to stock up on these things. Think of it as if you are going camping, and you need everything you would take camping. You need at least a month's supply. Face it, you may end up in the woods for a while when it all comes down. That brings me to self protection! GUNS! AMMO! Get it! Got it! Good! Need I say more? Hyperinflation is so close I can feel it! Utility bills and fuel at the pump are going up up up! Unemployment is out of control! Crime is way up! Our leader is about to cede the sovereignty of our nation! Our country is being modeled around China! The media reports lies! Prepare now or they're going to load you up on a train bound for the FEMA Camps! Stay away from those evil vaccines! Non-Compliance is the only way to win! Everything the government is doing to tick you off is all a distraction away from the truth! I truly believe they want to kill at least 50% of us, and I'm not going to be one of them! So I say again, stop worrying about what the government is doing, and worry about yourself and your loved ones. Protect you and yours! Prepare! The urban holocaust is coming...

Wow that is the worst idea ever EVER.

Now all criminals will have to do is gain access to that information, and all of our security will be pointless.

Minimal surveillance is a good thing for safety, but there is a point where too much surveillance is a safety hazard.

This could even be used against the people who plan on doing this. You are basically giving information to the enemy.... not getting information from the enemy.

Wow, humans truly have been sedated by something. It must something in their food, and their lack of knowledge of it's effects.

What do you want to bet this does nothing to stop many of the lottery and other email scams that come from the UK.
I get a couple of these from the UK every week.

Plus some 'n-word'ian bounce there 419 scams through UK email providers.

I am willing to bet that few get caught or even slowed down by the UK government.

I'm wondering how hard it would really be to monitor all email, landline / cell, wired / wireless internet traffic, satellite (TV, radio, internet,) CB, or ham radio traffic, all at the same time... and video survalliance of public places, and or the sound that comes with the public locations, and of course writen communications.

i mean seriuosly...????

what other options do we have to cummicate, other than corporate provided services, that the Governments collect taxes on...

we pay to use them and we pay tax on top of that, now we have to pay to be monitored????

and they still retain the tax profits???

i think ATS should be changed to FTS:

Fuc|< The System!!!!!!

buy the sheeple, poor the sheeple...

sorry man, they're way ahead of ya.

they can already monitor the mind and read it, if they want to.

they can also use telepathic communication.

If this is the way things are going then all citizens of the free world should at least make it interesting.

We should make it a point to make a random phone call to an unknown number every day.

We can leave cryptic messages like ...

"The chair is against the door."

"The sun rises in the west."

"I'll have a deep fried pocket watch with thimbles on the side."

I already do.

Just hold fast my friends across the pond. They will monitor as much as they can, but they will never gain the ability to maintain full control. It may seem like we have no choice, but there are millions of us who know the truth......and only through patience will we persevere.

That's only if your algorithm is proprietary and strong enough to not be broken. At NSA, we spend the entire day coming up with new algorithms and then breaking them. If an encryption is encountered that we cannot swiftly decrypt, then sometimes we have a motive to move in to your location and try other options and more "legacy" methods of data collection such as video and audio reconnaissance with insects.

Across the pond as in England? Yes, at Menwith Hill they have an Echelon station that monitors communications. Army recruits are trained here. They can later on become a civilian worker at NSA once they are honorably discharged. www.fas.org...

If you really want to protect your privacy, you need to do a list of things.

1. Use someone else's wireless (preferably really far away with a strong antenna)
2. Spoof your MAC address (unless you bought your PC with cash)
3. Rename your computer name to whitespace (press ALT+255)
4. Boot from a CD such as Knoppix or Whax
5. Use an anonymous proxy server

The above method is exactly what I use for rare instances when I "need to get something done" Anyone else care to add anything to the list?
