I really wish I could believe what you are saying, tell the Police, you'll be fine if innocent. Where this maybe be true and no conviction is brought against you, your very reputation in you local community will be in pieces, nothing and I mean nothing will convince the 'people' that you are innocent. Because as a rule 'people' are pretty dumb, they will believe you to be guilty and that the cops just couldn't find enough evidence.

If anyone has this happen to them, then a simple delete of the file won't help. Only real way is to physically destroy the hard drive. Reinstall your apps and get wise to security.

Viruses infect Linux boxes as well, they are not magically immune. They just develop less viruses, since they are not the largest target. Most viruses now are a for-profit affair, and MS users are their most vulnerable / largest targets. However, I've had Linux system infected before, just as I've had Firefox infected and vulnerable as well, nothing is really immune.

As far as this goes, if you have the porn and claim it was the virus, the virus would be present, that would be easy to check.

The best protection isn't an anti-virus program though, it's the system restore utility. Enable it, and make sure you have enough space on your HDD for it to run properly. That is the most effective way to remove anything you've been infected with.

I'm wondering how some people wind up with these viruses. I've had maybe three viruses in the ten years I've been online, only one of which actually took hold. All of them were when I was using Windows, of course. Even so, by keeping my antivirus software current, I had almost no problems.

It seems to me that a lot of people run into trouble when they use their computers to go into "shady neighborhoods", so to speak. If you visit porn sites, pirate sites, that sort of thing, you are leaving the well-lit streets and beginning to skulk around in the shadows. You increase the chances of picking up something more than you bargained for. Even if you never break any laws, the porn industry isn't known for its upright citizens.

If you're using Windows, make sure your antivirus and anti-malware software is up to date and effective. Make sure it's *running*. Some viruses kill the programs; and sometimes the antivirus programs themselves get a little buggy and don't work properly. Do regular virus scans. Run a complete scan at least once a week, preferably starting it before you go to bed and letting it run all night if need be. If your computer starts acting weird, don't ignore it. Check it out, make sure you aren't infected, because once you are infected, anything can happen.

And avoid pirated stuff. You're just asking for trouble, and when it happens, you've got nowhere to turn. It's like buying a stolen cell phone and having the battery catch fire. What are you going to do, complain to the police?

yeah this is true, a friend was searching for songs on my computer that she downloaded using Frostwire,she said to me, can i put this on my phone,i looked up and on my large LCD screen was 2 guys going for it.i said were did you find that,here's another one, there in the Frostwire downloads folder she said,i was lucky they weren't child photos but it was a bit embarrassing,i showed them the date they were created, and it was the same time she was downloading on that day.which cleared me.but it must be hard trying to prove that you haven't done it,my friends didn't believe me until i checked the date with them.

That's awful advice. A policeman is NOT your friend, if you called the police and said "there's child pornography on my computer and I don't know how it got there" you will absolutely be arrested and prosecuted for possession of child pornography.

Yeah sounds fine in principal. The sheer amount of HD space and amount of files however makes that totally impossible. There is no responsibility issue, even the most honest and responsible person cannot possibly know all the files on the HD. Just to make it even more impossible they can change all the time in milliseconds.

*nix systems may not be vournable to viruses but hackers on the other hand like them nixes. Apple I'm not sure about, I have no interest or experience with those.

Ok, now some of you (I'm gonna assume it's been brought up) have mentioned that both child porn and adult porn are disgusting. Uh, well, adult porn is pretty damn good. It's legal too. Child porn, however, isn't.

Besides which, the females that cry in adult porno, well, uh...Maybe if society wasn't obsessed with big schlongs, perhaps she wouldn't have to be in lots of pain by being penetrated by a whopper of a trout.

This is disgusting... Child-porn has got to be the most vile pukish garbage ever conceived by humankind, its practically in the same group of evil as fecal-fetishes, and animal-rape. Absolutely heinous, and the main question is WHO and WHY and HOW are these sites even remaining on the internet since theyre so sick? Who are these sick F----s that are running this sh-- and putting it on the internet? Or perhaps, Law-enforcement keeps it on so they can track/monitor IP adresses that access these sick sites and hunt down the people who look at it... I really think law-enforcement should put FAKE sites on the internet in order to catch these sick freaks and get them off the streets and off the internet alltogether. Just a thought. Also, why are the punishments for these crimes so worthless anymore? The punishments for these crimes arent severe enough for these people, perhaps thats part of the problem. And as big of an offense as hacking and virus making is, and then combining child-porn with viruses as a threat towards regular people is just way too f-ing much, just anything to try and get away with what they know is wrong and to keep doing it. It's all about the $$$. Hacking used to be a fun game played by bored teens in Europe, the U.S., etc. Now, it's all profit. Sex sells, even child pornography. Attacking from another computer is an old trick. That however, usually takes a trojan that allows it. A simple virus usually doesn't do the trick, and you need open ports and lack of a firewall to be vulnerable to that. But there are tons of unsecured home networks, and even company networks, so this still flourishes.

MP3 servers hosted on other computers, porn, software, those are the most common ones. Malware of course is the other big one, most originating from RU or CZ (Russia and Checkoslovakia), trying to trick you into buying their antivirus software to "fix" your problems.

And the issue isn't even shady sites. There are many reputable sites that don't thoroughly scan their banner adds. You can get infected via their site. Or get a virus which opens a security hole that then gives you a trojan, which then opens you to this sort of thing.

Biggest issue is lack of updates. People fail to get their MS security updates. It stops a big chunk of these issues. They ironically don't "trust" MS, and avoid their updates.

Someone I know to have impecible Honesty, and has No reason to LIE (never has) to me, (A close relative who then worked for a MEGA-Corporation, who ran/built/maintained Top-Secret computer systems (manufacturing of Defense related stuff), told me that THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, owns a large stake (through a so-called private equity group) in a certain "internet router mechanism" that when any data set (8bit package) goes through this thing, a marker (3bit id.#) attaches itself to the packet.

This id IS one piece of a kiddie-porn photo! (you again say HCTB!)

This is how it works- you send file from point A to point B via internet, data gets broke down to 8bit packets gets id# from router gets to point B reassembles file but, leaves a LOT of id#'s on your HARDDRIVE!

Then, lets say you decide to run for public office, (ARE YOU NUTS!) FEDS get wind of it, (before you even file for candidacy) raid your house/business grab your comp's, (now here's the punch-line), they go into SEARCH, enter a previously unknown picture/photo extension code thingy(.jpeg, .mpg, etc...) and VOILA!, kiddie porn appears on YOUR hard-drive!

You get Question from feds,"Are you sure you still want to run for office?(-insert german accent here!) "

You say "SIEG-HEIL MINE FURHER!" and you go back to your Pathetic Existance and hope/pray you get to live out your life OUTSIDE of the proverbial "6x9" grey bar hotel room.

Well, that is what was told to me, I have no way of knowing if it is true, BUT I have never hooked any computer I have ever owned to the Internet, (up until 4 mos. ago, I previously only used the Inter. from my local library, but now my business is so integrated onto the net -ordering parts/supplies- I have been harrased by my suppliers to "ORDER ONLINE", "YOU GET DISCOUNT IF YOU ORDER ONLINE", "WE CUT DOWN ON WILL-CALL PERSONNEL TO SAVE YOU MONEY", and all that.)

So, now i'm on the net, GOD help us(me) ALL!

Quite curious indeed. I should've knocked the wood before I posted on this thread. Now all 3 of my computers are heavily infected with all kinds of trojans and viruses. I always thought that I was pretty good at keeping this clean but now I'm not so sure anymore. If only I could get my hands on some of these folks who make this stuff...
