I sympathise but run-of-the-mill pornography is a totally different kettle of fish to sexual abuse of a child, however upsetting it was to you.

wow so now a supposed pedophile who stores pictures such as this have an excuse by saying a computer virus placed it there.

That's the other side of the coin for sure, but I'm willing to bet that there are a significant amount of people who have been criminalised and ostracised thanks to malevolent individuals/organisations... I mean who wants to be seen helping a paedophile? It's one of the ultimate sins and probably one of the best ways to utterly destroy someone with little or no escape for the victim.

Yeah I was thinking that too.

From the same
source the OP linked

An inspection for his defense revealed the laptop was severely infected. It was programmed to visit as many as 40 child porn sites per minute — an inhuman feat. While Fiola and his wife were out to dinner one night, someone logged on to the computer and porn flowed in for an hour and a half.

I'd like to know how these sites stay up and operational.

Edit: typo

Pedophiles have been threatening to flood computers with hidden child porn through a virus for years.
There plan is for judges and cops to start finding it on there personal computers and not know how or where it came from and then start believing that it can be put on anyones computer. And yes if that started to happen it would be a good defense.

The only thing that surprises me is that it took so long to setup a child porn bot net.

Another thing is someone could put photos on your computer without using a virus.
One way would be to set up a site to give out open source programs and piggyback photos on the open source program or on updates for the program.
By sending the photos with the open source program then at the end of the download putting a couple lines of code to change the file extension for the photos from a photo/graphics extension to a say VBX extension.
when you delete a program all your computer does is remove the extensions stopping the program from working and allowing the files to be overwritten.
Then the photo will be there but the computer owner will not be able to open it with knowing where the file is and changing the extension back to a open able file extension.
This also could be piggybacked on torrents by people that start torrents say on pirate bay.

What i would like to know is how to find out if someone has hid something on me computer without my knowing it and i don't mean just kiddy porn but other things that might get the cops on my case about.

That's my understanding. When someone is accused of this it isn't just a matter of looking in your files or on the hard drive to see what is stored there. If I can find the article I'll post it, but it was just as being talked about here, authorities did a forensic analysis and then determined that the photos were stored maliciously by an outside agent. They were able to determine this by following the things like keystrokes, and loading.

Someone said there was nothing to worry about, that the police could tell if the images were put there by a malicious program. I do not believe that for an instant.

There is nothing to worry about and you kind of say why.

So lock up your computer and NEVER let anyone else use it because what happens if your friend or your teenager or anyone else who has access to your computer visits a porn site and an underage image or two finds its way into your temporary internet files??

See if someone else besides you has access to your computer you would get off. That is what they call in court resonable doubt. So like i said there is nothing to worry about.
