This cartoon, less than 10 minutes, uses humor to show how willling we are to throw away our freedoms for security. It may have seemed quite far-fetched in 1948, but is all too real today.

The mob mentality is quite powerful, and even more powerful is the man who can control those forces, if for a short time. They can be equally dangerous the those who contend to be in control of the mobs. If you are interested in the subject I suggest you pick up a book titled, Mobs, Messiahs, and Markets. It is a truly fascinating, educational, and entertaining book, very fun read.
