Get Vaccinated...or No Health Care

The proposed US Health Care Bill is a monument to Big Government, in bed with the pharmaceuticals and insurance industry. Among other things, the bill will require up to date vaccinations in order to qualify for health care.

Health Insurance News had this to say about other kinds of mandates the government has in mind--specifically about vaccines. "The Federal Government's proposed mandatory health insurance will mean mandatory vaccinations/immunizations. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says that for anyone who refuses to keep up-to-date vaccinations, under the new health reform, you will not be able to obtain any health care you may need until immunizations are current [the same kind of tactic used to force public school children into having immunizations as a condition of enrollment].

Regarding the mandatory health insurance, the bill requires US citizens to pay for private health insurance, or go to jail. Estimated cost is $15,000 per year for the cheapest single family, non-group plan. In the event of non-compliance, the following articles apply:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years."

Gotta love the US Government. They are definitely out for our best interests.

So far, I am still able to get my healthcare via the VA system. Last year I did take the flu shot. Not sure why. Just a case of me being off my meds at that time? I was sick as hell all winter long. Unlike previous years. Up until last time, I would be asked to take a flu shot by VA healthcare providers and I would say, oh, I got the shot at the county health department and that would be that. No problem. Oh, but what if they begin to cross check things via a national network? Then I'm pretty much f*&^%$ I guess. Surely I wouldn't be denied healthcare via the VA, or fined or jailed. Hmmm......I guess I will find out.

Yup, part of the Health Care Reform is a National Database of all US citizen's health care records, and you can bet they will be checking to see if you have had your required vaccinations.

However, the bill has yet to pass, and even if it does it will be three years before it kicks in. Maybe Congress will get kicked in the butt in the next election and decided to appeal the whole thing. At least we can hope.

Vote Independent, and kick the scumbag encumbents out of office.

I dont understand it, I thought the majority of folks here were actually favour of keeping the insurance healthcare system as is? So why is there this accusation of this bill being a threat to private businesses when its supposedly in bed with it?

So your basically saying this is bad because its in bed with the insurance industry? So your saying a bill that isnt in bed with the insurance industry, ie an even more socialist healthcare plan, is good enough?

Well considering its a public option Im sure folks who dont like this will opt to stay with their corporate healthcare and off the government system. Its their choice and if they feel safe and more free under the corporate rationing system, more power to them.

The problem is that the tag mandatory and backed by congress is a big difference of having a choice about private health care.

Mandatory means you will be at the hands of whatever the health care industry wants and you have to pay for it or else.

So I suggest people to open their eyes to what is happening in this nation of once the free people.

Hey Marge Im pritty sure there will not be mandatory healthcare insurance in this bill, infact the Baucus bill that came out regarding Mandatory insurance was shot down. There is no way anything forceful will be voted in. Its the public option, and you have option to opt out and stick with your corporate healthcare. Infact this healthcare bill will include states opting out, so yes I dont see anything forceful coming on.

I hope you are right, because of the many bills in congress most of them are just sucking up to private insurance, that women Pelosi and her bill is nothing but a butt kissing bill to private insurance that women needs to be kicked out of congress along with all the congress members that sell themselves and the voters of this nation for campaign money

Lets not use the Whitehouse term for the publice option.......Its a government option.......

So lets see as a business owner (which I am) I will have the option of keep paying my 16% for healthcare coverage for my employees or I could op out and pay 8% to the gov........for the "government option"

What should i do??

I know right, it's not fair what the government is doing. However, I'm also not surprise that this happening. The government needs to back off my health care because if there is a shot that comes out that I don't want to take, then I will not be taking it.

Are you sure is a government option or just the extension of Medicare and Medicaid.

If the employer is going to be pentalized 8% its a public option....not an extention.....

Since Pelosi is having trouble getting enough Dem votes right now.....the wording may change......but the results will be the same.....

I dont think you understand. The whole thing is a scam, designed to bilk the public in favor of large corporations. Its all a show. The Administration has cut its deals with the insurance companies and pharmaceuticals, and as far as Congress goes--there are 60 health care lobbyists (yes 60) currently active in Washington for every single member of Congress.

There may be a few "principled" members of Congress, who have the best interests of the people in mind, but by and large our representatives have sold us out. Nevertheless the show goes on--Left and Right, Democrats and Republicans, Anti-Insurance and Pro-Insurance, blah, blah, blah.

The best solution would have been for Congress to do nothing at all, rather than burden the unemployed working stiffs with an extra $15,000 per year mandatory health care package, which they cannot afford, or else jail time. And the government can afford to do this, when we just had a budget deficit three times bigger than last years--and even bigger deficits on the horizon?

Yes, Baucus' bill had the mandatory insurance clause removed...but Pelosi put it back in--with a vengance. And if you think that because you have Corporate insurance you will be able to "escape" the "get the vaccine...or no health care" clause, think again. Its going to be implemented across the board, similar to the way that kids must have their vaccines if they want to go to school.

A line has been drawn in the sand folks. Its time to kick every single encumbant out of office and vote in our next door neighbors, or the decent guy down the street, who will bring some semblance of common sense and decency back into our government. Or we are doomed.

I have just downloaded a copy of the bill. What page is sec. 7201 on? Or what page does it talk about these penalties?
