Seems to be to plump to be a rat from the family Muridae. Could be a baby pocket gopher (Geomyidae).
Here a picture from a small species. A few species reach weights approaching 1 kg (2.2 lb). The baby in this picture is probably even younger, than
the photographed specimen.

Ahhh ! That's actually kind of cute in a pink, hairless kind of way.
As to what it is I really don't know, it's head is sort of bear-cub shaped, but its back feet are more rodent-like ... either way the small tufts of
hair show that it is meant to be hairy / furry, so maybe the poor little guy has mange or something ... he's still cute.

It's a bald vole. Why it's bald is a good question (my guess would be parasites or chemical exposure) but it's definitely a vole - it's
way too small to be a squirrel, too big to be a mouse, and too pudgy for a rat.
Frightening, huh? Man, some people are such babies. I'd totally catch that sucker, feed it sunflower seeds, and name the little dude "Goblin"

Looks like a hairless mole rat to me, I came across one and like the article said it appeared either deaf, blind, or fearless because it just sat on
it's haunches and smelled the air at me then slinked away.

Nah, see those leaves in the upper left? Those are blackberries. it's too small to be a squirrel. Besides, a squirrel in that posture would have its
tail lifted over its back.
I'm telling you. Vole Not a hoax, just a so-ugly-it's-cute rodent
