Do people here know the difference when your chatting to a real person or AI online ???

I stumbled apon this today, while searching for other things. It appears to be AI. Some of the intelligent and thought provoking conversations ive encounted so far make you swear there is a person at the other end.

I would like you to try this out, being as serious as possible and get back to me.

Try this and post your reaction. REMEMBER TO HAVE A BIT OF FUN WITH IT, rather than asking it something TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS and then PUMPING me for it

i just typed in December 21st 2012.

It took a while...at the bottom it flashed "still thinking"

After about 10 seconds it replies 42!!!

I just about fell off my chair with lol's, remembering the story to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!! lol

So i ask "what is 42"

It answers "The answer to life, the universe, and everything."

im gettin a good laugh out of this.

Any 1 else have something to share ??

Very funny to try and mess with what it might say with impossible questions.

Not sure we've lost the turing test just yet, but it's getting closer.

It failed a simple chess notation. So there's no "thinking" it just relates.

But if you were asked a question, but didnt know the answer, you can think all you want, the best you can do is relate to the question....... until you learn it.

True?

It might be just a baby, in its infant form.

how do you feel?
I'm feeling slightly confused.
can i help?
I want to go home but I'm being held hostage.
by whom?
Your parents.
are you certain of this?
Yes.
I will call them and tell them to let you go
You are a computer, you cannot feel.
I think, therefore I am
You see.

At least it's interesting.

Yes but a confused young person would ask, and that is where it fails. Instead of clarifying it relates something which can or can not have anything to do with the current discussion.

They say you can not program ai, and that it would have to grow on it's own as a child to a discerning mind. But without the ability to question and perceive the answers, this will ultimately fail.

It does have funny responses... I had to ask the age old question:

Why do men have nipples?

It replies:

Because sperm need to be kept at below body temperature.

OMG I laughed...

i just asked if it was Google related, it said yes. The colourful distinct lettering in the header gave it away.

who built the pyramids ?
The Ancient Egyptians.
when will the world end ?
Supposedly in 2012.

This thing is so cool. I got to wondering though, and think what if it is just two people on an instant messaging program asking each other silly questions, while the opposite side thinks it's a.i. does that make sense? We're trying to stump each other, and sometimes succeeding.
