Conspiracy Topics In Other Current Events

As AboveTopSecret.com gains in popularity, a trend has been noticed that we are moving away from the purpose of this discussion forum, that of conspiracy related topics and discussion, and are starting more towards the incorporation of more and more "mainstream" topics and discussion. While non conspiratorial topics are indeed relevant to how we percieve, communicate and thusly interact with the society(ies) we are in, this forum is intended for the following types of threads -

This forum is for the discussion of contemporary world events, with a general focus on conspiracies and/or cover-ups that may not easily fit into other topical forums. Discussion topics and follow-up responses in this forum will likely tend to lean in favor of conspiracies, scandals, and cover-ups. Members who would seek to refute such theories should be mindful of AboveTopSecret.com's tradition of focusing on conspiracy theory, cover-ups, and scandals.

It is not an effort on the part of Staff to dissaude the discussion of non conspiratorial topics, rather it is our motivation to place such discussions in venues that have been allocated for such. Whether it be within our Off Topic Forums or in a more regionally specific demographic, the intent is to reserve this forum for the discussion of conspiracy related aspects of current events.

Please be mindful of the topical nature of this forum and note that the moving of a thread by Staff to a more appropriate forum is in fact an effort to reaffirm the integrity of our mission here on AboveTopSecret.com - that of the discussion of conspiratorial aspects of the world around us.

I'm a little confused here. I was told by another mod after having a thread moved from the "Alternative News" section to the "Current Events" sections that "Current Events" was more for news of all types, that is of a 'shady'(for lack of a better word) nature, where as "Alternative News" was for straight up conspiracy talk.

Then we had another mod yesterday make a post thanking members for all the news they post.

Now we are being told we should keep it elsewhere.....I guess I'm asking for a more concise clarification.

ATS is always grateful to the members for making other members aware of news. We just need everything to go in the proper news forum.

Breaking Alternative News:
Alternative and conspiracy related news that is no more than 36 hours old.

Current Events:
Alternative and conspiracy related news that is recent but is not as 'breaking' as breaking alternative news (so that is the difference between breaking alternative news and current events).

General Breaking News:
The proper forum, located on BTS, for general, non conspiracy mainstream news stories.

Breaking Political News:
Reserved strictly for political news stories.

Global News Discussion:
Also located on BTS for non conspiratorial/alternative news events that take place around the globe.

So we do have a lot of news forums don't we?

However, the issue we are currently seeing is stemming from the goal of the ATS current events forum. It is similar to BAN but allows for a longer time frame from when the news first broke. We've been seeing a lot of 'general news' stories in Current Events but that is not the theme of ATS, which is conspiracies and the alternative. If threads in the Current Events forum lack a conspiracy theme, it's possible they will be moved to General Breaking News while we try to regain the focus of this forum.

About the recent ABC hack...
ABC was hacked after interview of Dutch anti-islam politician and later it was reported that federal privacy commissioner Pilgrim decided not to investigate the case (www.theaustralian.com/au/australian-it/pilgrim-not-to-investigate-abc-hacking-event/story-e6frgakx-1226587087557) I think this is very questionable decision because before I was sure that islamists and their supporters only hijacking planes and kill people with guns, but I couldn't even imagine they will hack and steal private data. These days cyber attacks are much more dangerous because islamists can paralyze the whole cities or get access to weapons of mass destruction and all their past attacks will be childish antics... Muslims are strong-willed fanatic bastards, so we have to pay much attention to Internet security or we'll get into troubles!

Fox news.com has released about how changes that could be made in the case of Micheal Brown. The News anchor asks her guest, "What do you need to hear, to stop". Is it just a slip, or was it fishing. What can we say to make this all go away. Nothing more can be said. Its time for a change in mentality.
