When traveling down the groomlake road to get to the signs as seen in many professional and amateur films, you are on the Nellis bombing range before you get to the signs. Why are people even allowed on the range itself let alone groomlake? If the government wanted to keep that place secret why not stop them at the border of the range rather than let people walk all over the boundry of area 51?

It seems to me that only authorized personal should be allowed on the range itself. If you want go climb Tikaboo peak 26 miles away from the base itself with a telescope and high powered optical sh@t where you are on public land feel free, but the range itself is on military property. Shouldn't there be a guard shack at every road leading on the range?

There are way to many border crossing to have shacks. There are 5 just at Bald Mountain.

Don't confuse the land borders with the airspace borders. You can be on the land under restricted air space.

They fence off the live bombing ranges. Also the TTR is fenced. I suppose if they wanted to they could extend the fenced regions, but even as it stands now, you get to a border crossing and there is little to see.
