I actually read it much differently.
Skyfloating is pointing how willingly some people will affect information without questioning it.
Something I've noticed myself.
In our crowd, this applies to people who readily swallow up information that is against what you'd consider established norms.

Part of the reason I've developed the stances I have is due to cross referencing some readily believed "facts" and finding that that at best the original proponents were mistaken, if not deliberately misinforming folks.

The OP mentioned Masonry simply because he was using it as a example.
