I'm a guy so I've noticed this. Personally, if I don't go to bed later then the chick then for whatever reason i don't feel it's safe. Maybe it's a hard wired genetic thing, I don't know. Then it seems like no matter when you go to bed the chick always wants to wrap herself around you, and if you have chick cats they always jump up on the bed and wrap themselves around you too. So you're stuck there in some position where you can't move because you have some chick and two cats all wrapped up around you and you're the bad guy if you want to move. Am I wrong or is this just me.

Were do you live?? On a farm??

By chick i take it you mean your life partner??

But it is a good observation you make there!! Maybe it is some left over early-man instinct for the man to go to sleep after the rest of his group has gone to sleep and he has made sure everything is secure....

Don't know but i am interested so i'm gonna follow this thread.

S+F

Peace

Yeah, I hate when the chick is all setting my bed time; don't even get me started about her two chick cats.

My hubby is sawing logs as we speak. I don't think there has been one time in over 20+ yrs that he has gone to bed after me. I am a night owl and he isn't.
Seems my bedtime keeps getting later and later every year. I'm up to 4 am now. I only go to bed when I am drop dead tired and can't hold my eyes open any longer. It kind of sucks in a way. He would love for me to go to bed when he does, but I just can't do it. Back in my younger days, I used to go to bed with him and just lay there until I knew he was asleep and then get up.
Don't do that anymore though.

PS. Try crawling into bed with at least one dog, and a cat without making much movement or noise. It's not easy!

Its all or nothing for sure!

Just wait till you have a horrific nightmare and accidently kick the chick hard.
Things will be very different after that!

It's called cuddling anyway and you better not complain about it,
if you know whats good for you!

Written from my single bed.... Yes, she's already asleep,
in her single bed! Whatever works, hey go with that!

And yes, I will be up hours before her in the morning too.

It depends of the chick
. I'm a night owl, i go to sleep near 4 AM all days (well... now it's 4:41...). I used to live with an ex, and he always went to bed before me. I can live pretty well with just 3 hours of sleep.

maybe he was too lazy and I'm too hyper, who knows.

Hmmm... I don't know about most men.

But when I was married, my husband wouldn't go to bed until he got through the sports wrap part of the evening news (which was always put on the last 5 min.)

Personally, I was too tired to wait that long, so that's why I always went to bed first.

People do what is in their habit to do. If your day isn't complet until XYZ is done, you'll stay up until it's done.

We are creatures of habit, mostly.

It stems from the cavemen: The cavedude would make sure that the cavechick was asleep before him, that way he could relax and enjoy some "man time" without the cavechick all in his ear and complaining about him dragging her around all the time by her hair and stuff...man that get annoying

All jokes aside, I think the OP might be on to something here. I truly can relate to that subconscious thought of "not feeling safe", and it wasn't anything I had ever put thought into until it was just brought to my attention.

Oops!
I must confess, she does let me nap for a couple hours when I get home from work or on the weekends.
Hope she knows how much I appreciate this!
I better go check on her....
Tell you what, a burglar would have a real wake up call with us!
If we aren't on guard, the dogs are.

Sounds like a fun thread, but not really serious, is it? More like tongue-in-chi.., sorry, cheek?

If it is, you really should know that people's lives vary greatly. Being a night owl has nothing to do with sex/gender. And not all women even tolerate another person in their bed while they're sleeping, let alone "wrap" themselves around that person.
So there.

Agreed, but it might have something to do with website!!!

I always used to go to bed a couple of hours after the wife had gone up to bed but since my introduction to ATS i often wake up on the couch at 05:00 in the morning from the sound of a laptop hitting the floor....

My wife and i both agree that she has officially become an ATS-widow.

Peace

Hi OM!
Know what you mean!
I think she is always surprised I am looking at posts instead
of other women or something. She must have trust issues.
She should know by now I'm faithfull!
Besides, I would have to meet them on ATS if I ever did!

And she should know they would be as wacky as I am!

I'm kidding of course ladies!

Shhhhh, we're having fun now, keep it down please!
Oh, I better go check again......
I'll grab ya a beer while I'm up.....

I don't even think it's just that, I think they know who the Lion is, I think these chicks are just hard wired to know that the safe place is to be as close to the Lion as they can be. And the chick cats know it and the woman knows it, and as much as they hate to admit it, the safety is gloming on to the big guy. And you know what, it's true.

And as the big cat gets bigger the snoring starts, and I'm thinking that's all part of the same thing. I think the snoring is a warning that if anything tries to come close, they're going to have to deal with a big cat. So the chicks stay close, and the predators stay away.

Maybe I'm wrong but it all seems to be hard wired into us. so maybe I'm right.

Excellent point!
But, how are you supposed to
- hang on-......
musta been a ghost or something, that was weird!

Anyway, um... oh ya ,
how are you supposed to jump up like a lion and pounce
on a burglar if you are all wrapped in chick?

I guess I would just die happy if it was me

(kidding its late and I really have to- you know......
oh and happy fall back time everyone!
We gained another hour so we could be here!

Don't flatter male humans in staying up late as being from cave-security or
some such Nobel reason.

most males stay up last because of self-serving reasons, weak bladders or other personal reasons which translate around the idea of 'having-the-higher-ground'...

besides it's hard for the typical, western, over-fed male with excessive carbs & energy to sit still, relax, or sleep with all those muscles twitching because of their caloric intake

Well, the good porn usually doesnt come on till later on in the night.
So those that are married or have g/fs that live with them, this would
be the best time to come out and say "go ahead and go to bed babe, Ima stay up for a while and make sure everything is secure and sound".
