A severed foot has washed up on the shores of Canada's Pacific coast, in the eighth such incident in two years, police said on Thursday.

The foot, in a size 8.5 white Nike running shoe, was discovered on Tuesday by two men walking on a beach in a suburb of Vancouver, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.

The British Columbia coroners' office is conducting a forensic autopsy and other tests to try to match it to missing persons, police said.

Just seen the first 7 feet on History channel program, 8PM

gotta consider bears upriver taking the people to the river to wash them off before eating the victims

the tennis shoed feet were just too much bother for the hungry bears
so those parts just floated away & later were found.

You would have had reports of 7 Bear attacks, if that were the case.

Sounds like a fetish serial killer. Pretty weird. Have they been able to ID any of the body parts and try and form a victim profile?

When is Dexter going to learn that dumping bodies in the water is a bad idea?

Scientists say the feet could have drifted dozens or thousands of miles because human body parts can remain intact in water for years when protected by shoes or sturdy clothing.

"There has been no evidence to date to support foul play in relation to these discoveries and it appears that all remains separated from the body, disarticulated, through a natural process," police said.

That's sounds like they could all be from a boating accident? With the currents breaking up the bodies in the same way and then depositing them more or less in the same area?

Could these possibly be from a boating accident that was full of illegal immigrants? Just a thought, but plausible.

Yhea that would account for there being no missing persons reports that can be linked easily to the remains.

Either that or something else illegal happening out on the high sea's - drug smuggling gone wrong? Anything like that.

on the nat geo show that aired last week they ruled out dismemberment by blade on the first 5 feet after a specialist examined the remains. Foot 6 was a hoax. They didn't show the 7th foot on the program

I'm surprised this is still going on, I remember hearing reports about this back near when I started.

OK here we go again. Same type of shoe.

The last time around I questioned if there was some type of cult activity or a serial killer at large.

I'm sticking with those two possibilities.

I agree with slayer69, gotta be a serial killer. From what i've read, they like to keep souveneirs and maybe this is his/hers way of teasing the cops. Like they're saying, here is your clue, catch me if you can. As far as it continuing for so long, serial killers will keep going until they are caught or stop themselves for some unknown reason or they die. Sometimes they stop because they have satisfied some urge or vented the emotions that triggered it to begin. Does it seem like I know just a little TOO much about how their minds work?

Imagine how many feet haven't been found yet ???

second line.

Despite all the media attention and popular culture fixation - serial killing are very rare. More people die of bee stings.

Now illegal immigrants being dumped because of shore patrols honing in - we'll never have a good account. Probably in the thousands every year.

Nike is manufactured in the Far East with a lot of kids working in the plants. Could easily be a boatload from there.

LOL I will apologize before I say that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in months.

There are grizzlies way up north in BC and none close to Vancouver. Near Vancouver we have black bears which are harmless.

I live with bears just outside Vancouver so don't even try to tell me black bears will hurt you. They could but they do not. I am close enough to flip a peanut on them often and they have no interest in entangling themselves with people.

Older bears know better, They've already been pounded with rubber bullets and explosives if they simply growl at someone. Here they just go about their business in peace unless they mess with us, then if they growl or break in a house it's game on and the Conservation officers will give them a severe woopin and kill them if necessary so they learn to stay clear.

IMO this is what the feet are: Bodies dumped in the ocean due to organized crime. The reports say the feet were not severed with a saw or anything but were detached naturally during the decay process. Perhaps weights were put around the ankles and the body sunk and was devoured by sea life. leaving the only flesh that which is in the shoe.

Perhaps crabs dont like Nike rubber and eat everything but the foot. There are some crazy chemicals I am sure in Nike's mix. Crabs rely heavily on smell. Maybe they are deterred from eating the foot because of the shoe.

Well reasoned post. I used to live in BC, more centrally part of the time, in the Fraser Valley.

Organized crime explanation sounds plausible. Oriental gangs maybe?
Coming from the East can't help noticing as great as BC is, the crazy quotient is much higher than in the rest of the country. A West Coast thing I guess.

I have been hearing about this for a couple of years......really weird.

It could be "Canadian Healthcare - We could do surgery on your ankle but since it is not cost effective we will simply remove the foot."
