This is a thread for people who understand that the Hate crimes bills is not simply a bill protecting Homosexuals, but is a bill that covers all forms of depravity. No PC brainwashed Trolls here please.

I suggest listening to the following teaching to understand the gravity of the situation, and the back drop as to why this bill is being passed.

You have been punk'd. This is what happens when you take something OUT OF CONTEXT.

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) likely set a congressional record Thursday for the most sexual terms mentioned in one speech on the House floor.

"I apologize to our transcriber, but I want to put into the record what we have to put up with in the Rules Committee," says Hastings, who then goes on to read a long, long, long list of sexual behavior that is specifically not protected by hate crimes legislation that passed the House Thursday.

Source

Yes, that's right. He was reading a list of people who are NOT protected.
See the WHOLE video IN CONTEXT at the link.

Rep. Alcee Hastings SUPPORTS the hate crime bill.

Sure, cause things like that happen ALL the time and ofcourse we need to discuss that SPECIFIC issue.

Come on now.

THis is in part due to the story of Matthew Sheppard and if you'd read his story along with millions of other LGBT folks who have been murdered, or discriminated against for their orientation, people would realize the need for such legislation.

Some people HATE gays and hurt them for it, that is a hate crime regardless of if the law says it is or not.

That was a nice ninja edit of your post there...

When has anybody attacked someone physically and not hated them. Why is there a need to determine Hate violence from loving violence.

I know he support the hate crimes bill.

If anyone has any of those Philias they SHOULD live in fear, in fear of almighty god, or at the very least in fear that they might hurt someone.

The law needs to be more strict towards peadophiles not less.

So you are equating homosexuals to pedophiles are you? Saying we should be scared of the "almighty" God?

Of course. For a "serious" thread you are doing a good job of derailing it with that kind of rhetoric.

And HATE crime means that the person has been violent BECAUSE of a specific trait, wether it be race or religion or sexual orientation. It has nothing to do with WHAT the person did, the fact is that most hate crimes involve NO provacation on the victim's part.

They are attacked for being who they are. That is a hate crime.

Do people actually want the ADL to arbitrarily determine what is a "Hate Crime" and therefore merit incredibly strong sentences.

The Talmud says you can sodomise boys and that is O.K. do you really want the law to reflect these views?

How about the ACLU "Anti Christian Lawyers Union" that sound discriminatory to me do you think they will be closed down?

The guy picks up the list of Philias and says any one having these Philias (Aesphixipelia etc etc) should not live in fear because of who they are.

I know its got nothing to do with protecting homos, anyone who think the government cares is very naive. Its just to stop people speaking anything the ptb do not want.

I wonder will it ever be a crime to write what i just wrote, do not know, but i think plenty in government may want that power.

So if I am an indiscriminate killer I get a lighter sentence than if I kill based on some sort of categorization.

If you really beleived that every life was equal then thissort of equation could never happen

Did you even read what BH said?

The article states those people are NOT protected by this legislation....

Reading and understanding a story before you post it is very important

This sort of thing really bugs me.
I find it to be a total waste of time;
a waste of money;
well, I guess it just goes to show that our legislator's minds are totally wasted. grrrr..

A crime is a crime.
Now they want to penilize the perp because they think he hates the victim.
But only certain victims.
How about the spouse murderer who kills because the spouse is hated?
Is that in the bill anywhere?

Is it still OK to hate someone if you don't hurt them?
Did they go so far as to make it law that you can't say bad things about people you hate? What if someone overhears you say it...if they report it do you get in trouble?

Human idiocy never ceases to astound me.

No, he doesn't. He says that the term "sexual orientation" in this bill does NOT include any of those terms in that long list.

Then he goes on to say. "Mr. Speaker, this bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice, and to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability--or all of these philias and fetishes and isms that were put forward--need not live in fear because of who they are."

In other words, this bill is a step toward ending violence based on prejudice for yes, every American. No American should live in fear because of who they are. And should be legally judged only for what they DO.

In still other words, as long as those people on that long list don't ACT illegally and break the law, they should not live in fear. And I agree.

What about people who get death threats for saying things about Mohammed which are true, will they be potected by this law?

What about people who get fired because they know the truth about darwin and the fact that evolution is a scam, will they get protection under this law?

Are these people victims of Hate, the answer is yes but they will not get protected.

You are comparing apples from oranges my friend.

YES they are protected since hate crime legislation also includes religious grounds and both those expamples could be seen that way.

Just to be clear, I wish there was no such thing as hate crime legislation, but I see it as a step toward equality under the law. I look forward to the day when people aren't hurt and killed for who they are and ALL people are treated equally under the law. But until then, they should be secure in the knowledge that they won't be attacked simply for who they are.

This thread's premise was that pedophilia, etc, enjoyed some sort of special protection. That's not true.

You need to do some serious reading and research to find out what you're talking about.

I personally dont understgand the whole hate crime thing. Ok first everyone wants equal rights correct. So if someone hurts someone beacuse they are black, gay, whatever why do they need a special law just for that? Why are the guilty not punishied as if the person hurt was just like everyone else a person. I feel the reason some of these groups of people have some many problems is they want to keep bringing attention to themselfs that they are special and need special rules and laws. Whatever happened to everone being treated equal. Everyone should be punished as if the victim was a peoson and not someone different.

Now out of fairness i am curious if a gay, black, or whatever killed a white person because they are white, is that a hate crime?

In my opinion i feel that these hate crime laws only alienate the ones that are supose to be protected even more by lableing them as different to begain with.

Just my thoughts, maybe someone will be able to make me see different.

***So just exactly how is this law going to stop this from happening?
The whole idea of a hate crime law is sheer foolishness.

Our present laws are good enough. No need to attempt to mind read the perp. What arrogance.
