www.monstersandcritics.com...

The death toll from a swine flu outbreak in Ukraine has risen to nearly 50, President Viktor Yushchenko announced Saturday, having put the number of dead at only 11 the day before.

Quoted by the Interfax news agency, Yushchenko said the epidemic was spreading at a furious pace, with a total of 48 deaths and around 150,000 people sick.

Asen......you *must* let someone here know as soon as there is something practical we can do to help...anything. Maybe there is an ATSer with a FedEx account or something like that, and we could send stuff that way, if the postal service isn't good. Please just ask. If you don't need it yourself, there must be lots of people you could pass stuff onto. Will there be any services at all though, with the borders and airports shut, or is that just for civilian traffic?

www.kyivpost.com...

and further,
if you can't find it in the msm
search the blogs from the people there, for ex:

Yea even I was thinking about that. All borders and airport are shut. I will try to find out if this is only for civilian population.
Eventhough the med stores have nothing, hopefully the hospitals have them. But really no one wants to go there....even if you don't have the flu you will definately get infected there.
Things here are still ok. I took the idea from you and told my dad to get hold of some Tamiflu in India and mail it over to me. If that fails I will put up a post requesting assistance. Thanks again. I never thought of this.

I think it is just bad journalist because he/she starts article by H1N1 blabla bla and continue:

"'We had a problem with identifying the (swine flu) antibody in flu sufferers,' he said. 'There is a mass of work we have to do.'"

So they still don't know what is going on. Fact, that they identified H1N1 in half (or so) cases DOES NOT MEAN, that primal cause of dead was a/H1N1 strain of flu. There is great possibility, you get a/H1N1 and some other, more lethal strain.
I think, that we can throw away some bacterial infection as primal source of illness because (as I pretend) its much easier to identify bacteria then virus. So THIS is probably:
a) unknown/not yet identified virus
b) recombined/mutated a/H1N1

For point b) there is question: how much must virus strain be different, that (standard?) test on a/H1N1 will not give positive result?

Sorry for syntax - not native speaker ...

Hey ahemot, I'll take this to a Georgian friend to read. He reads cyrillic. I don't. Do you or are you using a translator?
thanks.

Thanks for keeping us updated with these links and translating them to us. Are they really saying is Pneunomic plague instead of H1N1?

And about this news agency you're posting these links from, what is it and is it reliable?

Again, thanks

You know, if these are true ...I can't believe it's something that just happened naturally.

Starts to remind me about stephen king's stand what's going up in here.

Absolutely we can try and help out if things are going really bad. I'm in Prague and it would be no problem to send some things over from here. My wife has retired after many years in the health care industry so we should be able to get supplies if you need them.

The only problem is if the postal service will still be working.

Alternatively... We have a car.

Can you possibly get over the border to Slovakia?

Please send me a U2U if you need to discuss anything.

Mike

Asen, my thoughts and prayers are with you to stay safe..Thank you so much for posting and keeping us updated through this crisis with you.

I wanted to mention, and this might sound crazy, but in the old days, people used to put a silver coin in a glass of water at night and drink the water in the morning.. kind of a home made silver colloid without the electricity. If you happen to have anything silver..its worth a try, silver, I hear is good antibiotic.

Anyway, my 2 cents..and stay safe, friend

No i have no silver, and no meds. Totally helpless. I just got some Echinacea from a friend. Can someone please tell me the dosage for echinacea for prevention of infection...Thanks in advance...

Well from this
site..its quoted on dosage

YOU CAN GET TOO MUCH OF A GOOD thing. Although echinacea (Echinaceae spp) can help you fight a cold in the short term by boosting your immunity, if you take .it for more than 14 days straight, it loses that immune-boosting power. Instead, start a two-week-only regimen at the first sign of a cold, says Jonathan Goodman, N.D., a naturopath and adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in Bridgeport, Conn. Take 2 dropperfuls of echinacea liquid extract three to five times a day, or two 500 mg capsules up to four times a day. If your cold doesn't clear up in two weeks, stop the echinacea and see your practitioner.
