As Ron Paul said this summer, any number the US government is gonna give you, you better multiply it by 2 or 3 to have the real cost.
And I tend to agree with him, especially when you consider the failure and the real cost of the cash for clunkers program.

don't kill the golden goose because she doesn't produce gold eggs fast enough.
If were runnng a few trillon dollar a year surplus then I might agree with socialised medicine.. but we are not.

I feel pretty confident most people will pay more. If your current health plan doesn't cover pre-existing conditions of people it will in the
future. That means if you're healthy you will have to pay for all the people who have not been taking care of themselves with increased premiums.
Poor people will be fined if they don't sign up for health insurance. Rich people will pay an extra 5 percent to start with. The middle class will
likely have much higher premiums to cover all the sick people who never bothered to exercise or try to maintain their health plus those with real
medical problems. If you increase what everyone pays, the government may still end up saving money. Most people will not I believe. I do not
believe I should have to pay extra to cover health benefits for those too lazy to exercise or even attempt to take care of their health.
It's possible our government will increase taxes on everyone who is overweight or who has an elevated cholesterol count or anything else they think
of. If they run the show, they can claim it is good for us. Not enough people are complaining if the government succeeds in taking over.
