Nope. I think I am quite "normal" thank you very much.
It's all you other people who are eccentric.

I think eccentricity is one of those in the eye of the beholder things

here at ATS - the word eccentric is almost meaningless

doesn't mean you're not - out there

:-)

but in here - you're just another conformist

To me eccentric is not a bad thing. It's just a way someone is.

no - it isn't a bad thing

at least - that's what I keep telling myself

:-)

I was officially labeled an eccentric when I was in elementary (seems a little harsh, but - what do I know?)

I've finally found a place where I can be a sheep

- Apply for me.

  • Nonconforming attitude - (I don't know. Who cares?)
  • Creative - (Whatever comes out, comes out then I return it to the source)
  • Intense curiosity - (Perhaps. Why am I here?)
  • Idealistic - (So much so I don't even bother)
  • Happy obsession with a hobby or hobbies - (Not happy at all but they make third-density life somewhat tolerable)
  • Known very early in his or her childhood they were different from others - (Never wanted to be a firefighter or policeman; sports are stupid)
  • Highly intelligent - (People try to convince me 'tis in real life and on ATS try to convince me 'tisn't)
  • Opinionated and outspoken - (Scary; if you can't stand up to me you're a gutless coward)
  • Unusual living or eating habits - (Classified)
  • Not interested in the opinions or company of others (Want to hear your opinion so I have something to ignore; Need someone to share my contempt with)
  • Mischievous sense of humor - (Unnoticed by most and so it's even more wicked)
  • Single (Nope! Found eccentric GF)
  • Usually the eldest or an only child - (On most days this is true)

the list you provided is a very positive list - which is a good thing

there's no reason why eccentricity shouldn't be viewed as a positive thing

but, it isn't always something people admire:

Some eccentrics are cranks, rather than geniuses. Eccentric behavior is often considered whimsical or quirky, although it can also be strange and disturbing. American billionaire Howard Hughes, for example, was considered to be very eccentric in his old age. He became a figure of pity when the truth came out. It was rumored that he even stored his urine in glass jars and never cut his hair or nails. Despite the above Howard Hughes was a brilliant Financier.

psychology.wikia.com...

I'm looking for an actual test (don't know if there is such a thing) but can't find anything - yet

now I'm curious about how many of "us" there really are - especially here

at home :-)

a few interesting sites:

findarticles.com...
maisonbisson.com...
talentdevelop.com...

S&F by the way - it's an interesting topic

anyone can seem eccentric to someone else-> taboos

When my wife of 30 years is asked by my friends and co-workers why I am, she just tells them I'm eccentric and have been since the day she met me. (In fact, I think that's why she married. That and love.) Seriously, like any good eccentric, I walk my on walk, I think my own thoughts and don't give a tinker's damn what others think.
And yeah, I break a lot of taboos.
