I was going through I site I like to frequent and found the 10 coolest laptop concepts. Some of them look really interesting and pretty amazing. I personally like the roll up one and of course the girly pink one...HP better get on that one, they would sell! LOL! It makes you wonder what other technology is out there they they are making concepts out right now in all forms of tech. Laptops sure have come a long way

Million Dollar Laptop

Full details of the laptop have not been released at this point, but it is known that it incorporates a 17" wide LED lit screen with a specially designed anti-reflective glare coating for clear and brighter image, 128GB of Solid State Disk space and a slot loading Blue-Ray drive. There is an integrated screen cleaning device and a very rare coloured diamond piece of jewellery that doubles up as the power button when placed into the laptop, and also acts as security identification

Who in the world would spend a million dollars on a laptop?! This better not crash for a million dollars.. I sure hope its got some good not MS software This is probably one of those that people with too much money will buy to show off to their friends

Orkins Roll Top

Now this one is AWESOME! I would so buy this... I see this possibly being released in the near future or I hope...

This "notebook" comes with a flexible OLED display which also handles multitouch for those who are head over heels with the iPhone. When fully rolled out, it ends up as a 17" flatscreen display but can also be folded into a 13" tablet when required

Haa I love the part about being head over heels with the iPhone, that's me

This would actually be very easy to carry around. Its small, portable, rolls us, no bulk...perfect! My laptop is a 17in and it gets heavy to tote around all day.

Heres a vid on it:

Datamancers Steampunk Laptop

This looks to me like some custom made laptop...pretty neat at that though.

inside this intricately hand-crafted wooden case lives a Hewlett-Packard ZT1000 laptop that runs both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux. It features an elaborate display of clockworks under glass, engraved brass accents, claw feet, an antiqued copper keyboard and mouse, leather wrist pads, and customized wireless network card. The machine turns on with an antique clock-winding key by way of a custom-built ratcheting switch made from old clock parts.

Too me this is just for looks not practicality. If I were filthy rich like Steve Jobs I'd have one, but it would only run Apple OS

Think Pad reserve edition

This is just awesome! I would have one of these as well....

I wasnt able to find much about it, seems IBM handed their laptop divison over to Lenovo and well this is their new concept laptop...looks pretty neat to me. Wonder what the price tag on this will be????

Ergonomic Dual Screen Split Keyboard Laptop

the keyboard splits open to give a computer user more room to fit their hands, but that it has a second LCD hidden underneath it. What a fantastic idea. The second screen works in concert with the first screen – giving the user a “drag and send” capability for open windows or programs, or act independently as a pen-based input screen for note taking, sketching, and just about anything else a user can do to write into the interface.

This one looks neat but I dont like the keyboard board.. I do love the dual screens, that would really help for my future business....

HP Girly Laptop

Its PINK need I say more They better get on this one

Each one of these designs by Nikita Buyanov has its own set of specific that would recognize special pampering that a girl wishes for; they are classy looking, stylish, trendy and even provide extra productivity for your personality.

Canovas Dual-Screen Laptop

Now this is a neat laptop...

The notebook features dual display with touch-sensitive screens, sketch pad, music score, graph paper, an electronic pen and a dedicated hardware for its smooth functioning. Unfortunately, it's only sold in Italy and Australia.

Darn you Australia you have it all! The men and the laptops

Fujitsus DJ Laptop

has a 20-inch primary LCD display easily folded closed to enable the turntable function, which can be accessed via a touch-sensitive screen on the outside. The laptop lets you browse all your favorite tracks same as on a vinyl turntable

Wow I know some DJs who would love to get their hands on this!! Here is a youtube video on it as well...kinda short but still here it is

TYPE N01 Emergency Laptop

Not too sure what to think about this one...looks neat and like a kids toy for some reason...

NEC has teamed up with Takara to create the presumably mad scientist-approved machine, which sports all the token stickers, labels, and even wallpapers that make this device so similar to those seen laying around Duke Nukem laboratories. Beneath the facade is a LaVie G type L laptop, 15.4-inch display. Flanked on the side is the very necessary "Emergency Button," which apparently shuts down the machine in case of unexpected intruders. Launched in 2006, only 300 units of the highly secretive TYPE-NO1 were made costing up to ¥174,510 ($1,4760)

So it looks like people have bought it, well only 300.. Wonder what they think of it. The price isnt that bad either.

2015 Compenion Laptop

The computer itself has an OLED touchscreen, where you can directly work on, much like with a umpc or pda. The whole screen is a slider, as it can be moved forward to reveal a second OLED touchscreen underneath, where you can have a keyboard or working controls, similar to a setup with 2 monitors.

That sounds pretty darn amazing to me but if its running windows count me out I like the idea of the two screens on some of these.

These are all mostly concept laptops or are available but in limited areas..

Makes you really wonder about what they will look like in about 20 years...wow

oddee laptops

mods I wasnt sure where to put this so move if needed

[edit on 10/29/2009 by mblahnikluver] edit for silly commas that mess up the codes..

I couldn't agree more. With all the futuristic ones here, I like the "old" style the best.

And the clockworks just takes the cake. Good thing it doesn't come in pink.

Why thanks

Yeah I think the antique looking one is the coolest. That would be a conversation piece as well as the million dollar one.. If I had endless money I would probably own most of these...I would just have to have someone tell me how to run Safari on it instead of Windows..lol I like the pink one for obvious reasons..lol

Its very interesting to me what they have done with laptops over the years. The rollup one would be very handy if you are always lugging around a laptop AND books..That gets heavy

Yes, very true

Its funny how art and technology seem to have become blurred over time.

Going to an art gallery these days is like walking through a technology convention at times. Similarly, technology is looking to art for inspiration.

I have a feeling that we could see some of these laptops in art galleries of the future. Framed for our pleasure

The Art of Technology.
The Technology of Art.

Peace.

The only problem here is that I don't see a crash proof laptop for you mblahnikluver. You know, one that can be dropped repeatedly and never have the keys fall out of the keyboard.

The pink one looks especially fragile.

Just make sure that you don't lend it to anyone..

Wow that looks pretty neat! I hope they have an Apple version Seems the older looking one with the key is the one most people like. Its very different and quite interesting to look at.

Thanks for the video

Well there is a lot more to do with a laptop than a TV. Heck I have the same 13in tv I have had for about 10 years. I am not to big on fancy flat tvs as long as I am able to watch what I want to Im fine. As for a laptop, well I am always on mine for various reasons. The roll-up one would be great for travel and the ones with two screens would be very helpful for my designs that I work on. As far as them controlling the internet....Im not sure I believe that will really happen. Its too big, how are they going to do that?

I was watching Avatar yesterday and like many people was blown away, I especially liked the futuristic helicopters and gadgets. ( although for some unknown reason they still smoke and fire bullets). The gadget i thought would definitely be a reality was the transparent glass looking handheld tablet laptop. Very similar to this.

So was surprised when surfing online to see Apple has just brought out a new Tablet style keyboard less laptop very much in the flavour of the ones featured in Avatar ,although they are not transparent.

I think they look great but how do you sit on the couch and watch a movie without holding the thing. Great thing about laptops is they sit on your lap. Also screen looks very vulnerable. still people will buy it and it does look neat. Still waiting for those newfangled helicopters.
