The Coast Guard has said that they were notified by the NAS Corpus Cristi control tower 40 minutes after contact was lost with the aircraft. There were two Instructor Pilots onboard, and they were flying near San Jose Island, approximately two miles offshore. The CG immediately dispatched an HH-65C, a Falcon jet, and two patrol craft (45 foot and 25 foot), and the Navy was preparing an aircraft to assist with the search.
