Prehistoric jungles laughed at global warming [NEW EVIDENCE]

'Rainforest similar to ours flourished at 3-5° hotter'

Fossil boffins say that dense triple-canopy rainforests, home among other things to gigantic one-tonne boa constrictors, flourished millions of years ago in temperatures 3-5°C warmer than those seen today - as hot as some of the more dire global-warming projections.

But now, according to further diggings, there is more evidence to support the idea that a proper rainforest similar to those now seen in the tropics existed at the time of the Titanoboa - despite the much hotter temperatures. This could be seen as conflicting with the idea that a rise of more than two or three degrees would kill off today's jungles with devastating consequences for the global ecosystem of which we are all part.

It's possible that the lush superwarm jungles of the globally-warmed future might be a bit less diverse than today's, however, as it seems that the old-time ones were.

Lookey lookey, more evidence to suggest that this 'warming' is all part of a natural process that has happened before and is not the result of human carelessness.

I am no expert but based on what i know i would say that it is a natural process just like re-occurring ice ages. I assume its heavily dependent on the Sun. So in a way, Earth is not the only planet that's really affected, but our whole solar system, as any changes in the Sun's behavior impact our own environment. I think its called 'solar system warming' rather than global warming.

As to what the Sun does that causes this? Again, im no expert, you would have to ask someone who is, but i assume its heavily related with the Sun's magnetic field divergences which cause sunspots, impact heat output etc. Ask an expert.

The point being though, this is natural, there is evidence that warming has happened before, when human's werent even around.

Yep, another nail in the coffin against the Climate Change doom-sayers. Its becoming increasingly obvious that all the panic surrounding the rise in temperature is being created by politicians and the media in order to push through radical new agenda's and make a quick buck off the environmentally conscious world.

Heat often does help life flourish and it isn't always a bad thing. Think about how many people freeze in Winter time and how much they pay on heating bills and how a slight raise in global temperature might actually be beneficial. It might also open new farming possibilities in places where it typically gets too cold. People too often jump around panicking like we're all going to die when Climate Change is brought up, either that or they go on a tirade about how disgusting and awful we humans are but no one ever thinks of any positive side effects.

they also forget data like in the OP here, the fact that the Climate has been shifting for billions of years without factories and human activity so the idea that all of a sudden after only 150 years of industry we've become a major climate factor is a little unrealistic.

Yes, exactly. Lots of evidence is actually mounting for this and the fact that many prestige names in the scientific field are putting their names behind the idea that humans are not causing global warming does say a lot.

Interesting but what about the Worlds population growth by 2100?

What if more people start moving out to where there is more space and in doing so cut down these rainforests?

Just because the rainforest areas survived in heat a few degrees above what it is now, doesn't mean much really.... what if there's no rainforest left in 2100?

Just saying of course... Hypothetically speaking
