Actually, BH, playing a computer game, or visiting ATS on the company computer is considered "theft of services", and I know several organizations that have prosecuted people for that, in addition to firing them.

Oh, I know. And I agree. I'm not condoning what the were doing at all. I was just saying a little of "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" kind of thing.
I personally happen to have a very high work ethic and wouldn't be playing games or visiting ATS at work at all. I was just trying to show the other side of things.

Oh, I know you do. My response was not aimed at you, at all, but rather to let people know what they could be in for, if they do steal computer time, or services, such as computer usage.

Maybe they already knew how they would vote and so didn't care what anyone had to say? More outrageous things have happened.

It would be nice if they had time to read the legislation. It would also be nice if they didn't sell us out. At least they are enjoying themselves.

What is up with people? They work for you, would you be happy, under any other circumstances, to find your employees playing games while your business is failing?

Imagine, you're business is facing collapse, you rely on getting orders fulfilled and shipped, you rely on your customers being happy with the services you provide, and you walk into your office one day to see every employee ignoring the phones, and playing games/looking at Facebook.

If you would say "oh, it's fine, it's only solitaire", well done, you just went out of business.

The arrogance of these people coupled with the apathy of the public is a serious issue here. Too many people forget that they pay for these people to sit there playing games (and I'll bet it's a considerable amount too). They are your employees, and they are charged with making very important decisions on the behalf of the people.

I'll tell you what, I dare any of you to go into work tomorrow, disrespectfully ignore your colleagues and sit at your desk playing games in full view of your boss, and see what happens.

Seriously, the apathy of the American public is truly astounding.

The amount they get paid is not what is important but the amount of damage they are doing us. That is costing us. If we only had one government body running everything, I would rather it was the Legislature. The Executive has it's own agenda and has sold out to the elites. The Judicial Branch has also sold out, examples the Warren Commission, the 2000 election, etc. They are not helping the American people. But the Legislative branch is our only hope for freedom in America., short of secession.

How about them actually using the time to READ the bills and issues they vote on themselves. It seems to me they are not taking their jobs seriously, nor is integrity part of their job requirement.

Thanks all for the insight into such a broken system of "Glove-erment' where no one actually touches the real responsibility they are trusted and paid to perform.

How about them actually using the time to READ the bills and issues they vote on themselves.

To me, THAT is a huge problem. For instance, the new House Health Care Bill is over 1,900 pages long. I'm sure that there are some really concerning items buried deep in those 1,900 pages. Both parties are guilty of failing to read bills. I was watching one of the news shows tonight, and they mentioned that the US Civil Rights Bill was 8 PAGES, and certainly most people realize what a milestone that was.
Anything that requires over 1,900 pages to write has to be so confusing, so convoluted, and contain so many contradictions, that it will be a real problem to enforce.
Now imagine that a court has to rule on provisions of that bill. Will the lawyers read it, will the judge(s) read it, and if not, how just would a ruling be?
Now imagine 300,000,000 people trying to figure out what their health care rights and coverages are.
It boggles the mind!

I was thinking about how the photo was of the CT legislature and the video was of the TX legislature, so everyone NOT from those two states who were outraged really didn't have the right. Then I read about similar instances in other states and even found this one from 2004 where the JAPANESE Prime Minister reprimanded rookie lawmakers for reading comic books and being on cell phones during legislative sessions over there.
....... www.usatoday.com... .......
So it seems to be a VERY widespread problem, and considering how much stupid and down-right damaging legislation comes from all our representatives, I can understand the speculation on how our elected reps obviously aren't doing their jobs. But the outrage is futile if we don't apply it to our active personal politics.
So get out there and work for REAL reform and change...... not the lip-service and BS we've been getting for wayyyyyyyy too long.

We are on the verge of actual Democracy, what with current technology as it is. Since these jerks have laptops and Net access in legislative sessions, along with their own websites, why don't they have their interns describe the legislation pending and put up computer polls for their constituents to tell them how to vote?!

Unfortunately that probably wouldn't work cause the jerkoffs who write legislation use OBFUSCATORY language, so you're often not even sure what your vote meant........
