Barack Obama's victory last year left many Republicans bemoaning their party's ineptitude when it came to political exploitation of the Web. Democrats, they admitted, were far ahead in the art of using the Internet to seduce voters.

So Connecticut Republicans decided it was time to boldly forge into the 21st century, only to stumble when one of their decidedly deceptive experiments ran into trouble last week.

Twitter, Inc., shut down 33 fake Twitter accounts created by Republicans using the names of Democratic state representatives. The Republican scheme was to send out posts under the Democrats' names mocking the liberal tax-and-spend bastards.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

What I want to know is why couldn't the Republicans just tweet under their own names? If they don't have enough to say honestly that is persuasive to the American people, then maybe they should just shut up.

Creating phony accounts using the names of real public officials is an act of desperation.

They are a bunch of crooks. They have no respect for our Constitution either. They have so many people fooled. I can't believe how anyone could buy their crap after 8 years of Bush. Again though I guess only 15-20% of the public identify themselves as Republican.

Because a LOT of Republicans at the local level are dishonest.
Look at their track records. It's just how some of these folks think. sure some Dems do it, but dishonesty and general screwing up seems to have been mastered by the GOP since 2000!

Bah, both teams do it.

Neither side is defensible; so they've both converted to the infamous West Coast Offense. This is merely another short pass designed to gain another couple yards, and, more importantly, wear on the opposing teams defense. This, like many others, will be lost and forgotten amongst the countless other interceptions now seen daily. Both QB's ratings are in the gutter; so the real question is... when will Americans wake up and stop wearing their jerseys?
