As discussed a few hours ago here,
satobs.org...

there's an unidentified object in a very high
earth orbit, ranging way beyond the moon,
that has been designated "9U01FF6".

It's almost certainly a discarded rocket stage,
perhaps decades old -- and identification will
be difficult.

But it shows the level of detectability of objects
beyond Earth. And the way that astronomers
who spot them, react.

I'm not doubting that you are likely right in your assessment of the object being a discarded rocket-stage, but I'm curious as to why, if it is potentially decades old, it was just now observed. By four observatories simultaneously no less?
Would this be a case of observatory one seeing something and calling up the rest for confirmation? Or was this independantly observed?
Cool story.

MYSTERY OBJECT: Yesterday, astronomers in Arizona, New Mexico and Spain, all hunting for near-Earth asteroids, discovered a "mystery object" orbiting Earth. Temporarily named "9U01FF6," it is small and in an elongated, 31-day orbit. Experts say it is probably a piece of an Apollo-era Moon mission. We'll get a closer look on Oct. 29th when it zips past Earth about 82,000 km (0.2 lunar distances) away...

Could it be another "secret satellite?"

BERKELEY, California -- For most people, photographing something that isn't there might be tough. Not so for Trevor Paglen. His shots of 189 secret spy satellites are the subject of a new exhibit -- despite the fact that, officially speaking, the satellites don't exist. The Other Night Sky, on display at the University of California at Berkeley Art Museum through September 14, is only a small selection from the 1,500 astrophotographs Paglen has taken thus far.

Theres a lot of thngs up there that we are not supposed to know about.

An integration of the above gravitational solution (computed considering
Earth oblateness terms) over the period 2000 to 2011 indicates that 9U01FF6
has been in geocentric orbit since mid-2003. The last apogee was around
Oct. 14.4 at 0.004915 AU, the next will be around Nov 13.2 at 0.004987 AU.
The next perigee will be around Oct. 29.2 at 0.000548 AU. Further
observations are desirable.

Any know information on the where abouts of the object now?

Anymore know info on the specifics of the object? If its a section of a spaceshuttle they should be able to know what model it came off.

Not here
or here since the 28th
or here

All quiet on the 9U01FF6 front. It's been removed from NEO databases as it's not an asteroid (minor planet) and Nasa "hasn't updated" its space junk database seemingly(!!) so maybe it's not space junk. The only jokes in town are that it's another Latvian Meteor (someone in Latvia seemingly tried to pass off a lump of wood as a meteor) or a Goa'uld starship

addendum: maybe I'm being paranoid, but I can find no reference to this thing post 28th Oct. Given that it was supposed to be closest to us on the 29th, I would imagine that someone on the internet would have noticed what it was then. Very odd indeed. Maybe it's the LCROSS coming out of its temporal shear.

Something we left in space passed the Moon.
How exciting.
We are lucky we got to the Moon and came back.
First we went into Earth orbit with a very large rocket.
Then a very small combination of command module and lander
drifted to the moon.
No ether control, just in a drift of gravity control that we basically do not
have control of even with Einstein telling us all about the gravity.
At the Moon we orbit, land and orbit.
The lander might have been left in orbit and the command module
drifts back to Earth orbit.
At that point if the lander is still attached it might have been let
go as the re entry module is used to land on Earth.

So there in no possible part beyond the Moon except for an
interplanetary probe that had a boost rocket.
So we have to check the NASA probes.

Just thought that as it was coming to its closest point a couple of days after news broke, someone might have had a look and said "ah the old D257X" or something and classified it, given that people were wondering what it was. Even astronomers who were tracking it appear to have shut up. Hey ho...it's probably been renamed "purple banana" so it's never found again

A TV spot had this mention about tracking near Earth objects.
Everyone under control gets 15 seconds of fame now.
News comes and goes but its still propaganda with a game plan.
Do I sound like Alex Jones.

Anything of importance will never show up.
Each one has to deal with the importance of the truth on ones own.
