WASHINGTON – NASA's great lunar fireworks finale fizzled.

After gearing up for the space agency's much-hyped mission to hurl two spacecraft into the moon, the public turned away from the sky Friday anything but dazzled. Photos and video of the impact showed little more than a fuzzy white flash.

In social media and live television coverage, many people were disappointed at the lack of spectacle. One person even joked that someone hit the pause button in mission control.

Yet scientists involved in the project were downright gleeful. Sure, there were no immediate pictures of spewing

Looks like NASA collected all the hearts - and the queen of spades.

Didn't see that anyone had posted this yet, so thought I would give it a go. I can say I personally find it interesting, yet unneeded. Do we really need to be spending $79 million (pocket cash for sure >.

Search for LCROSS.
It's been covered, heavily.

It was a attempt to look for water on the moon, and the price tag was actually fairly cheap for the actual mission.
Keep in mind, all spent missions are crashed into the moon anyway following the end of their mission.
