Artificial Intelligence Diagnoses Abuse

dsc.discovery.com

Electronic health records are the lynchpin of the artificial intelligence system, according to both Reis and Sege.

Abuse victims often seek medical treatment at different locations for each injury to avoid detection. Each hospital or doctor keeps separate patient records but often fail to share those records.

Keeping one, consolidated electronic record of a patient activity would enable the software to detect abuse.

How would you feel if police showed up at your door, to suggest or accuse you of abusing your wife or husband? How would you feel if you found out that the source of this accusation came from personal data collected by every doctor your spouse or loved one has visited?

Imagine having to be interviewed by police, social services, etc., essentially invading your home, personal information, your life.

In a time when we're learning that we CAN NOT trust the medical profession. . .we are going to hail a new inhuman tool that gives them greater power of ignorance!? Ignoring the human aspect of their profession?

While detecting abuse is very important. . .I believe this is another ruse to promote the digitizing and collection of our personal information. We know we can not rely on doctors. . .they are human and imperfect. We can not rely on computers. . .they're made by humans, and are imperfect. What will a doctor do with this computer suggestion? We he or she become human and discuss the outcome with the patient in private? Or just call the cops. . .whom we also can not trust?

Can the hippocratic oath be digitized then programmed as well?

I know whats it like to have my privacy totally violated in this way, and the ptb make things up very easy.

This will only lead to people who know you accessing this data, and telling everyone.

I am not sure why people always want this sort of stuff, other than busy bodies.

Don't you get it? A massive health database is being justified as necessary as it "helps detect abuse."

I read this article this morning. Reminds me of that movie Minority Report. Too bad it takes a machine to do what a doctor as casual observer should be able to spot. Goes to show how little attention people pay to anything anymore.

"I don't need to know math...I got a calculator"
"I don't need to know how to spell...I got spell check for that"
"I don't need to know how to diagnose...I got an app for that"
"I don't need to know how to investigate...I got an app for that"
"I don't need to know...ANYTHING"

Before we know it, we will be so technologically advanced that we will reach the next stone age.

Just my 2-cents

It's always done like this yeah, they give a reason for something to push aside rationality, like abuse or in the case of internet, child pornography but it will be used for a variety of other things, they never, ever close up the legislation in such a way it can only used for the reason given. Playing us like a piano.

Yep the minority report mentality has been in uk for along time i reckon. My life was wrecked by it, all someone had to do is make it up. The police have never ever questioned me over anything in my life, but they have absolutely destroyed my life, with stupid technology surveillance.

There is i think a group behind the scenes in uk, trying to stop crimes like that film, but they are just killing innocent people for no reason.

We all think rubbish,a nd only a small fraction of our thoughts are what we really want in life, the rest of our thoughts are rubbish.

But vindictive females, will really abuse things like this system i wreckon, like what was done to me, to destroy any bloke they want.

I completely agree. There are times when I think it might be the best thing to have such a massive solar storm, that it shuts everything down. . .for a long long while.

Yes. The world is becoming a database. I have faith, though, that somewhere a counter measure is building. I would like to think that enough people are planted in various places to "bug" these systems.

This sounds sooooo 1984 to me. I'm all for preventing abuse, but at what cost?
