It is nice to see you represent your second line title under your name. It shows that you are honest and anyone would have decent discussion with you.

Thanks for the star

Israel has shown it has the right to have nuclear weapons by the fact that after all the times they have been attacked, they have not used them. However, all the nations that surround Israel would most likely use those weapons if they possessed them, which is why they should not be tolerated to have them.

So let me get this straight: Gaddafi is insane because he suggests Palestinians be allowed to defend themselves by possessing a nuclear arsenal, but it is perfectly normal for Israel to hold their nuclear arsenal as a bargaining chip over a population they have terrorized for 61 years?

Anything the West does is right and is peaceful, but anything the other guy does makes him a terrorist. I really have said it alot on this website, and I will continue to say it until people realize it: The West is the most hypocritical group of people on the planet.

That's some of the worst logic I've ever seen on ATS. This being ATS, that's saying quite a bit. Could you provide a walkthrough for this... this terrifying example at the lengths to which the human brain will go when it doesn't want to work?

If the Palestinians ever used a nuke on Israel it would blast them too . It would be unavoidable they are just to dam close to one another .

Having said that Israel would never Nuke the Palestinians for the very same reason .

There would be a greater chance of the Palestinians using the nukes on Kadhafi long before they ever chose to drop one on there own collective heads .

A Treaty making Africa into a zone free of nuclear weapons entered into force on 15 July 2009, in turn expanding the nuclear-weapon free territories to cover the entire Southern hemisphere. The Treaty of Pelindaba entered into force when Burundi deposited its instrument of ratification, becoming the 28th nation to do so. Over the last 13 years, all 53 African nations have signed the Treaty of Pelindaba.

The West is the most hypocritical group of people on the planet.

Is hypocritical a bad thing when your trying to stop others from building nukes?

or would you rather have every country having nukes playing a Clint Eastwood role of

GO ahead punk, make my day?

All I'm asking is for balance.

Either no side should have the ability to blow up the other side, or both side should.

North Korea hasn't used a nuclear weapon in combat either. Your argument holds no weight.

Israel has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Therefore, they illegally possess nuclear weapons and do not obey the international laws and guidelines set for responsible nuclear weapons states.

All of the nations surrounding Israel HAVE signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and DO obey the international laws and guidelines set for responsible non-nuclear weapons states.

Knowing this information, which do you honestly believe is the most responsible when it comes to nuclear weapons? It is clearly not Israel. That would be like saying a serial killer with a gun is more trustworthy than a law abiding citizen who does not own a gun.

Meaning for '*' and '**'.

* Entries with asterisk have NPT safeguards agreements that have entered into force as of 10/31/92.

** Non-NPT, full-scope safeguards agreement in force.

Not picking on you, mate but you could clarify what you mean by 'illegally' in your quote?

Why is it illegal for Israel to have nukes? Why should it be illegal for any country to have nukes if they want them? How can terms such as (il)legal be applied when trying to cast judgement on what a country is allowed to possess?

If Israel is 'illegally' possessing nukes, then who's going to arrest and prosecute it?

The world has gone completely friggin' MAD.

Find Israel.

Find me where it says that a country has to sign on. Just because somebody signed on the list doesn't mean they won't make nukes.

Look at Libya and when they signed.

Good thing they gave up their program in 2003 before they built any.

I understand you want balance, but no treaty or law can create that balance.

It has to come from the two parties involved. As long as the two got willing partners to back them up, they will never reach a mutual agreement.

I explained how it is illegal. They are not a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty signatory.

The West claims it is illegal for North Korea - who has withdrawn from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty - to possess nuclear weapons, so what sense does it make that Israel would legally be allowed to possess them?

India and Pakistan also illegally possess them, but that is a different discussion.

As a non-signer, it's legal for Israel to have nuclear weapons. it's just not legal for them to know how or get the materials to do so.

Say huh?

Because unless Israel got their Nuclear know-how from India or Pakistan (both unlikely sources) then whoever gave Israel the means to make nukes (that is, the United States, almost guaranteed) is in gross and illegal violation of the NPT. You know, that whole non-proliferation thing.

This is also why Israel keeps their nukes "unofficial" - if it turns out Israel has nuclear weapons, then whoever those things came from is facing a severe kick in the balls for violating this treaty.
