China only trails U.S. in billionaires
Beijing, China (CNN) -- China ranks second only to the United States in the number of billionaires, according to an annual report of the 1,000 richest
people in the country.
The Hurun Rich List counted 130 billionaires in China this year, up from 101 a year ago and none in 2003. An additional 825,000 people had personal
wealth of more than $1.5 million, said Rupert Hoogewerf, an accountant who has compiled the list since 1998.
"You can double the real number of billionaires in China to 260," said Hoogewerf in a statement. "There are still a large number of billionaires
off the radar screens." Often, wealthy people in China try to avoid the scrutiny of tax authorities by keeping their finances private.
The man who topped the list last year, for example, is under arrest for alleged financial irregularities. The most prominent dropout from the list is
injured Houston Rockets basketball player Yao Ming, whose fortune was valued at $100 million last year.
The list indicates that China's wealthy have been buffered from the global financial meltdown, which has tycoons in other countries reeling.

You know what? I think I am going to be sick.
This is really the final stages of the fleecing of the people of modern countries.
Here is another example from Russia also from cnn.com:
Gold and Glitz in the 'New Russia'
I am really starting to see an overarching connection between current world events, and a possible global meltdown.
I know things aren't so simple, and well I don't have emergency food stores to survive any horrors that may happen, but how do so many billionaires
spring up from zero in '03 to quite possibly 230 in six years?
Through outright theft and rape of the countries who support them, most likely.
This is extremely depressing.

Why are ATSers racing to grab news articles that have nothing to do with a conspiracy.
I am getting sick and tired of coming here to read something interesting only to see the Recent Posts page covered in CNN crap.

What in the world are you talking about? The super rich are consolidating the world's wealth, and we have no control of it and you say there isn't a
conspiracy?
Who owns the banks, major businesses, even government spending of the developed world, may I ask? Well, it certainly isn't the poor people or the
middle class.
Besides why are you complaining to me? It is pretty obvious that we hardly saw a dime on the dollar of stimulus money. All of this is connected, and
it leads to the doorstep of the super rich.
Thanks for the derail.

"WORKERS UNITE!!!" then. Wait a minute you guys are the type that hate the ideas Marx had? Wasn't he the one who wrote a long time ago that this
was happening and that its been the same since the beginning of time? Lords and serfs, Owners and Slaves. "Kings and Pawns. Emperors and Fools."

Yes, there is NO conspiracy simply because China is getting richer. They have the most people and are modernizing fast. This is not surprising nor
worthy of a topic IMO.
Just another ATS person grabbing CNN headlines and slapping it up on ATS. There is nothing unusual about China getting richer. That point is well
understood and China's growth is well accepted as fact. No conspiracy there.

You are simply not looking at the larger picture. If you think that is normal, good for you. Attacking me for slapping articles is your attempt at a
derail of this thread. If you don't like it, please post where you can appreciate what is being said.
Please keep on topic.

How exactly does someone know exactly how things were before they were given (or found) the information?
Besides, there was not always rich and poor. That is a creation of TPTB, and if you honestly wish to defend the people stealing our precious
resources, whilst leaving us in poverty and disease, go ahead.
It is one of the few freedoms you have left.

I'm sorry, what exactly have the Chinese stolen from you? You along with a lot of others are under the impression that because we live in America or
any other rich country no one else is allowed to take advantage of people. Wake up, this is how the world works. The best proof of that is our
precious capitalism. Dog eat dog buddy, get used to it.

Does China having billionaires in some way threaten or frighten you?
Most of these guys wouldve worked hard to get to where they are now, and I say good on them. People have to start realising that America isnt always
going to be on top....the more developed countries are finally catching up now

China only trails U.S. in billionaires
Good now maybe they can start by picking up their fair of the slack and help the less fortunate around the world with charitable contributions like
the US has. Or is this not going to be a part of their game plan?

Yes, possibly more so seeing as the EU has 28% approx of the worlds wealth but the EU is not a country at the moment so it doesn't count.

To be fair as well, if they have a similar amount of Billionaires as the US and their GDP is only just bigger than Germany's..
That is a ridiculous amount of wealth in the hands of such a few.
It doesn't bode well for China as a society in the near future.

Yes,

Come on Oz...
That was a cheap shot. I was referring to Charitable contributions by individuals which has nothing to do with their Government.
Pathetic attempt at Slamming the US.

no china, please don't do that. the result of US good deed have left too many dead and orphaned countless children. too many kids with American
father they'll never see and too many war with vested interest. china can keep their billionaire and the rest of their world can keep their way of
life unless of course a genocide happen.
