When Asked Where the Constitution Authorizes Congress to Order Americans To Buy Health Insurance, Pelosi Says: 'Are You Serious?'

(CNSNews.com) – When CNSNews.com asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday where the Constitution authorized Congress to order Americans to buy health insurance--a mandate included in both the House and Senate versions of the health care bill--Pelosi dismissed the question by saying: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

Pelosi's press secretary later responded to written follow-up questions from CNSNews.com by emailing CNSNews.com a press release on the “Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform,” that argues that Congress derives the authority to mandate that people purchase health insurance from its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce.

the constitution does not matter to socialists. and it doesnt matter to most americans...even bush said "its just a goddamned piece of paper"...if they try to force me to bankrupt myself by buying their insurance, i will move or fight it...

For these people(read: vampires), the only thing our constitution constitutes, is an obstacle.

There is no doubt in my mind that this will go before SCOTUS! While it is true that Congress has the right to regulate interstate commerce, there is nothing in the constitution that requires US citizens to purchase anything. That right is reserved to the states via the X amendment, such as requiring us to purchase insurance for our vehicles.
People on the both coasts have no idea what is going on in the heartland, in the "flyover zone" that most of them know nothing about, even though they claim to represent us.
It's time for the people of this country to rise up and take back our country, to return to the laws and values that made this country great.

That's not quite true. Americans want everyone to have healthcare. Americans just happen to think that it shouldn't be given freely (as that makes cost goes up somewhere) and they don't want the government to run the healthcare system.

I think it so funny when people think they know what they are talking about.

I can't even stand to look at Pelosi anymore after her little crying act. Spare me.

Are they serious? Interstate commerce regulations?

I really do hope this thing does pass now. The look on these morons faces as they are staring down the barrel of a gun will be priceless. Wonder if she will ask the holder if he is serious at that point?

War is coming. I have known it for over 20 years now. I never would have imagined the cause, but it sure looks to be right on schedule.

I "seriously" hope the good people of California are smart enough to vote this lunatic out of office.

Am I serious? Heck yeah!

Firstly, I dislike Pelosi to the point that I wish I could voice my opinions without ATS deleting it.

Secondly, I think it's a huge stretch to claim this falls under "Interstate Commerce." Utter disregard for the constitution.

I'd love everyone to have healthcare but not shotgun healthcare where you must chose between HAVING to buy private or succumb to the government's version.

This is a question that Obama, Biden and bug eyed Pelosi should all answer during a live televised press conference.
But I doubt anyone will have the guts to ask the question for fear of being labeled a ,,,
...eh, you know I mean.

Yes, we do. But only in a perfect world. People have to get it through their thick skulls that they have a right to the AVAILABILITY of healthcare. They do not have the right to be PROVIDED healthcare.

You really think there will be health care for ALL? You think the hospitals and clinics are just going to open the doors and everybody will have access to health care free of charge?

Wake up, there is NO way of providing health care for all. To think this is illogical and nonsense. Please stop saying that. Its totally misleading.

I acknowledge your post but I don't understand it. Can you translate that into English?

Also, if the UK is so great, why is it being taken over by Muslims?

Wow, arrogance and ignorance all wrapped up in three words.

I'm not sure we could ever cleanse this government through the normal democratic process. These losers are so entrenched in the system I fear the only thing left is that last option.
