1) What would you do?

2) Why? Are you justified?

3) Isn't stealing a sin? always? maybe not?

4) Does LIFE trump everything else?

5) What would the Good Samaritan do?

6) What would Martin Luther King do?

7) Is sin really relative?

1. I would bludgeon the greedy gnome with a spoon, steal the drug, chop up the former druggist, stew him with some root veggies and feed it to the poor children in the area.

2. I feed hungry children

3. Nope, the world operates on sanctioned stealing

4. Stew can bring life

5. Pray

6. ...Printed a news letter accusing the druggist of being greedy and affected by satanic inclinations, subtly suggesting that a crowd should Stew him and feed him to the poor children.

7. Free will

1) What would you do?
I would steal the medicine!

2) Why? Are you justified?
Yes, I would be justified by the very nature and oath this
Doctor took to recieve his licence to even practice Pill Pushing !

3) Isn't stealing a sin? always? maybe not?
Even the law recognises degrees of theft .

4) Does LIFE trump everything else?
YES!!!!!!!!!!

5) What would the Good Samaritan do?
He would help me steal it!

6) What would Martin Luther King do?
He would bring about public exposure by boycotting and silent sign carrying protest in front of the druggist business.

7) Is sin really relative?
Define SIN !

OK, i'll bite. But I don't always play by the rules.

A. I would borrow (steal) the drug.

B. I would take part of the $1,000.00 and send the drug off to a lab for analysis.

C. Once analyzed, I would produce the drug myself and administer it to my wife.

D. I would return the borrowed drug to the pharmacist.

E. I would produce/sell the drug for a modest profit.

Everybody wins. (I have no concept of sin.)

Nice thread.

1) What would you do?
Steal the medicine

2) Why? Are you justified?
Yes it is justified. My life is worth more than following a simple ethic.

3) Isn't stealing a sin? always? maybe not?
Yes it is always a sin, but you must still make comparisons to whether or not the said action outweighs the consequences. That is why poor people are more likely to be criminals...the penalties not as severe on them compared to a rich man.

4) Does LIFE trump everything else?
My own certainly trumps a lot of stuff. Maybe not everything, but a lot.

5) What would the Good Samaritan do?
Not steal it. But whoever said Good Samaritans are the smartest people out there?

6) What would Martin Luther King do?
Convince the doctor to give him the drug with his awesome speaking skills.

7) Is sin really relative?
Yup. Already answered this I believe.

Great thread. I have always thought sin is relative, but some others do not see it that way.

I think I would go to the newspapers with my story. I would ask the compassionate readers if they could help somehow. There are still many loving, generous and compassionate people in the world. First, I think that people would donate to help pay the cost, and secondly, I believe people would fight harder to change the greed and the way that human lives are affected by this. No human being should be placed below the value of money. Profit in medicine never sat well with me. It seems barbaric.

Is it right for someone to steal the medicine? When it comes to saving a human life and there are no other options? Um, yeah!

It is just a figment of speech. A saying.

like: Count me in. Nothing more.

My take on your exercise.

Did I color too far outside the lines?

1) What would you do?
If it were anyone else other than my (ex)wife, steal the drug. If it were my ex-wife, just tell her the pharmacist has the drug and won't sell it to her. Then it's his problem. Poor guy.

2) Why? Are you justified?
Because it is what I believe is right. As Bob Marley said "I and I are not justified by the laws of men but by the most high.

What's in the darkness
Must be revealed to light.
We're not here to judge what's good from bad
But to do the things that are right.

3) Isn't stealing a sin? always? maybe not?
I do not accept the concept of sin so the question is moot.

4) Does LIFE trump everything else?
It depends on how you define life. If you do not believe in death, than the question is meaningless. Choice trumps everything else

5) What would the Good Samaritan do?
Follow his conscience just as I follow mine.

6) What would Martin Luther King do?
I am not him. I don't now.

7) Is sin really relative?
I do not believe in sin so the question is moot.

There was one drug that the doctors thought might save her.

It only might save her. It is a form of radium, which is generally not good to put into your body; it could cause further suffering, and for nothing. I would hope that my wife and I could face death together, and be with each other, and forget about the money and the drugs. I wouldn't steal the drug. I'd be with my wife.

Explanation: S&F!

1] I would employ various methods under the guidence of the standards set by my internal moral POV to obtain that which I desire or hunger for.

2] I would feel completely justified as my moral standard meets that of existence with a high level of congruence! RE: Might IS Right!

3] Stealing or being stolen from is a victim mentality and either way I would be loath to percieve like that!

4] Nope! Death and Taxes are real eventualities which trump ALL!

See No#2 for why this IS SO!

5&6] I'm quite sure I can't accurately speak for demographics that are far beyond mine and my experiences! So I won't!

7] Nope! Existence's morals as I pointed out above uses far different standard and way different scale of incremental measurements to the locally confined morallity of Humans as a whole! Our version of morality is more of a state of wishfull thinking and an attempt to make justice "Seen to be Done." after the fact where as Existences's laws are always "in force" and "enforced" immediately across all scales and demographics regardless!

Personal Disclosure: Yes I have read that scripture in the various versions of the bible that I choose to consult and I would posit that the God of the Abrahamic bible [Christian variety] would judge her justification according to his own actions concerning 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:...!
