Great and very intersting read. Can not wait for nr 3.
I was always led to believe that ancient cultures made up dragons because they found dinosaur fossils.

Terrific post. Thanks for all the information.
I'm reminded of the Hopi. I learned from an elder that their mythology says a bright star landed on Hopi nation and taught the Hopi their ways.
Christianity has coined this being as Lucifer but the Hopi call him Ma'Saw. The Hopi Katchinas represent animals and star beings. When man landed
on the moon the Hopi's perspective was, "what took you so long white brother, we've already been there." Their prophecy says a Blue Star Katchina
will dance for the children and usher in the Red Star Katchina (the purifier). This is oral tradition so it lacks in scientific method but should not
be ignored.

Brilliant thread Skyfloating, i have only had time to skim but this looks really well researched and presented. The part about discs looks interesting
as they look similar to the discs used in Atlantis.
Peace

what is interesting is i thought i thought the chinese dragons were not dragons long before i even knew this site existed. some of them were obviously
huge lizards but others were machines. also, there is a tribe in africa that believes it is descended from "crocodiles." whatever those creatures
actually happened to be is still up to debate but the point remains that there were creatures here before us.

I havn't read either yet .... bookmarked
I will thank you in advance Sky, for your insight into an area worth investigating. Just last evening I was thinking about those fiery chariots of
biblical fame. Why chariots? That was the transportation method of the upper class from that time period, is all. It does nothing to describe exactly
how those chariots were propelled, other than fire.
The other thing is, why fire? Shouldn't an advanced civilization not use fire to propell their vehicles? Isn't that an earth thing? I havn't gotten
past that yet.

The word of the average joe ancients for any type of electricity or propulsion would be "fire" for lack of a better term.

Excellent set of threads you got going here, Skyfloating. I am constantly preaching about how members should take more time to research their theories
and this is exactly what I mean. We need more post(s) like this one on ATS.
As for being critical, I really have nothing to say. I'm still astonished by the amount of research that you put into this.

Quick thought:
I find it interesting that the Dragon's greatest enemy was seen as the Eagle and that they Bird we have chosen to represent our nation. And America
and Asia have always been at odds with each other. And it's not always come to violence. Most of the time it's an understanding that we just
don't like or respect eachother (not an attitude I condone, mind you).
Also, the Dropa stones are a great example of how people like to hide information from us and MAYBE why crop circles are now the main method of
conveying messages/information to the human race. It's much, much more difficult to cover up.
You could wonder why they use symbols instead of words, but the symbols (sacred geometry) represent complex ideas. It would probably take up an
entire field to write out the full idea. When one symbol does the job just fine.

i agree theres a certain level of evidence to your main idea, but i've heard all this information before, and i think the dropa stones wasn't the
best story to pick due to its absolute lack of corroborating evidence anywhere.
other than that though great post its nice to see other people getting this information

A star for you for noticing
The Vedas are up to 8000 years old and yet, even today its the Eagle vs. The Dragon. One has to asked himself what the people creating these symbols
know about them that we dont...

Excellent thread and well put together.
I have always been from Okkams theorem , the simplest idea is usually correct. However, I too have wondered about dragons, why are they ubiquitous in
mythology. Simplest answer to me ; they did exist!
I am a huge fan of Heroditus who wrote his histories "on the edge of" history. I remember reading that he had been to a grave where he had seen a
giant human (9 foot tall I think).
Somehow I wondered if there was a connection:
1.>> Part of the alien occupation prior to dawn of time
-- OR --
2.>> These actually existed as animals but were wiped out in the near past due to some climatic or human event (Last ice age was only 10,000 years
ago!). I wondered if man, like the grey squirrel as he spread his wings around the planet carried various diseases that killed some of the
competitors.
You've fired me up to dig deeper / thanks.
Did you find anywhere where dragons were NOT represented

Good question because when I program myself to look for Dragons I find nothing but Dragons
Lets see...Africa, South America, Native America, Ancient Egypt and Greece, Australia, Polynesia, Mesopotamia, Ancient England, Ancient Germanic,
Ancient Asia...nope, they`re pretty much a universal part of earths History.

Very nice thread collection, great effort.
Note that eagle symbol was and is used in Europe a lot. As far as I can recall at the moment it starts from Roman Empire, but probably long before.
upload.wikimedia.org...
In Slavic regions, things tend to be double-headed. We have both double headed dragons and eagles (which are still used on flags).
