Companies everywhere raising Health Insurance to unprecendented levels

Why all the sudden are companies raising health insurance cost? I spoke to several people today all working for different companies that are all raising health insurance cost by at least 10%. Is this a move on their part to position themselves to profit from the coming health care bill in congress?

I am asking because I do not know. I am only reporting something odd in that many people I know were complaining all at the same time about a large increase in their payroll deductions for their companies health insurance?

No, in addition to my own benefits enrollment 'options', I've seen in the news (as well as from concerned Congresspersons) several mentions of this problem. Even the healthcare companies themselves said it would happen if this healthcare reform were to press on, so it has.



Yes, I don't know any employed person who is not affected. Trouble is, most of us feel helpless to do anything about it. Next presidential race is in...2012 is it?

i would assume to get as much money as possible before their rates are gov't regulated to the point where they wont make any money.

Probably just due to the bad economy. Companies are looking to cut expenses and health insurance is a huge expense. People should just be thankful that their company pays any of it.

I work in H.R for the VA and all of the preiums went up for everything, its freaking MADNESS.

probably just getting everyone ready for what is going to happen when all of this "reform" passes. I'm sure it will be even higher then, better to ease everyone into it gradually, I suppose...
