You can say racism or anything else you like the reality however is that political correctness is soon going to die a bloody and violent death.

Alienated is a very small word to use, genuinely "pissed off" is better.

There needs to be balance in all things, we went from a completely bigoted nation, genuinely too conservative to a degree where people who didn't deserve to be were segregated and abused...

to

a society where alternative lifestyles are encouraged as the norm, capitalism and the capacity to earn wealth is being eliminated and the capacity to live a traditional lifestyle has been dissolved.

Abortion should be legal... it shouldn't be encouraged

Racism should be illegal, multiculturalism shouldn't be mandated at the expense of peoples beliefs...

Tolerance should be observed, alternative lifestyles shouldn't be taught to the children of families that disagree

The right to work for women should be allowed, a 2 wage earner system where kids have no parents shouldn't be economically mandated

Divorce should be allowed, it shouldn't be an economic or legal means for revenge or to get ahead at another expense

Women should be protected from domestic violence, men shouldn't go to jail for raising their voice.

Words shouldn't put people in jail unless they have committed an actual crime...

The Constitution should be upheld

Do you follow me?

I'm liberal, this isn't liberalism. This is an odd combination of socialism and fascism... big difference

And it's not alienation it's going to get ugly for certain I am quite sure. Everyone has rights, they deserve them respected, but not at the expense of the Family unit as we knew it, it was/is better than this, no children, no families, no middle class, self indulgent consumer generic nightmare of corporate stores and govt mandated education and belief systems taught above school and math and science...

I am no fan of religion.

But I rather live among that part of America than what the rest of the country is becoming, they have traditions... regularity in their lives, a work ethic, they are polite, not thieves.... lead lives based around self control not self indulgence. Make fun of the religious aspect if you like, but I can trust them they have a moral code and life isn't about every indulgence or greed.... they are NICE NEIGHBORS with GOOD KIDS to the 90%

What we have become looking for a moral code with no God present is worse even if he is a made up concept... Ultimately selfish searching for fulfillment with no family, no rules and little Love, we have become disgusting, over consuming self pleasureful.

I am not against those that want to fight this change and direction

This, what's in it's place is soulless and leaves you empty

It is easy to look at Religious families and find what is wrong... particularly in the general concept of god as a being involved in your say to day affairs...

But you know what... it works better than what we have in it's place, govt controlled thought, consumer identities, families shattered, no one having children, everyone working too much, greed, laziness, self pleasuring people...

Sorry but...

Traditions shouldn't be enforced...

But you should be able to look past the God aspect and realize that... it was for a long time the way we had morals and code we lived by... Culture, Morality

Diet, work ethic, family values.... Unity

We have lost those things in a major way... People need a system, a way of life, shattering that and believing that the Govt will replace it with something better is not working and it will only get worse, there is less REAL to PC and Political agendas than God and Religion, at least with Faith you have FAITH, all the govt brings is regulations in infinite complexity until we are all criminals.

Political Correctness has become the Nazism of our generation, there is no rule BUT it, there is no law but it there is no tolerance from it and it has to die and it will by the hands of Americans or some force outside our nation will inevitably rise and do it for us.

And

The real problem and if our leaders weren't bought and sold is that the Republican party SHOULD stand for strong STATE RIGHTS.

It's the failure of every nation that social norms are made on a National Level in large Nations, your not going to get 300 Million Americans to agree to live by the same standards this IS a diverse country and rules should reflect the local population... what works in one State or Community will never work in another, they are POLARIZING us... over personal issues that honestly do no affect each other from location to location...

In a system of STATES you can experiment and find what works, under a Massive Federal Govt we choose one policy and float or sink based on it, a Strong State system is why we CAN be diverse and still tolerate each other... a strong federal Govt is how we will destroy and hate one an other

Muslims pay taxes too, as do Atheists, Jews, and plenty of other AMERICANS of different religions, in addition to Christians. Public schools are meant to be for EVERYBODY, and if you have a problem with it send your kid to a Christian school, or home-school them.

Sounds like more talk to keep us divided to me. Anytime a biased piece comes out catering to the MAKE BELIEVE Left or the FAIRY TALE Right I just want to puke

All it is is more false partisan propaganda designed to make us argue amongst ourselves instead of unifying to make this country a better place and rid it of the multi-partisan erosion of our nation that the Global Elite are perpetrating.

It seems all the anger is being funneled by TPTB, they are using our anger at the system to divide us however they can so that if and when the people's anger boils over we spend most of the time in angry mobs waging war against ourselves. All the while TPTB that actually set up the fight get to sit back and watch as we waste our energy on hollow politics.

We need a peaceful revolution, a true revolution where EVERY American is unified in coming up with a better system and in kicking the crooks in Washington out and absolving all ties that our government has with Corporations, the Fed, etc.

I'm worried that revolution will never come, I've seen too many comments, even here on ATS, from people who are still buying in to the illusion of Left Vs. Right and who are ready to tear the throats out of fellow Americans because of a few petty differences of opinion.

I always thought a true American was someone who followed the american dream. That being the ultimate consumer. The guy that buys the most American products. Isn't that what the brain washing box tells you. Your not an American unless you drive american. Or buy American. American culture is not a culture so much as it is a vocation. That of consumtion. That's the only way people define you.

I'm sure being "americanized" means watching football or whatever sport is endemic to the state in question, buying American, waveing the flag and standing whenever you hear the national anthem. Oh and of course thinking that America is gods gift to the world. Follow these basic tenets and you should be well on your way to being American.

It's not just traditional Americans, but traditional people the world over. That's the nature of the new world order, who want to usher in a new post-traditional age where the old values no longer exist. Traditional England is certainly on its knees, as is the whole of the UK and most of Europe. It's all, of course, very deliberate.

If I understand you correctly, you agree with the sentiment of the article. So do you consider yourself a "Traditional American"? What does that mean? I've always felt that the strength of this country has been that being American can mean different things to different people. How does one determine a "real" American?

How does traditional have anything to do with being 'real'?

traditional: –adjective
1. of or pertaining to tradition.
2. handed down by tradition.
3. in accordance with tradition.

tradition: –noun
1. the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, esp. by word of mouth or by practice: a story that has come down to us by popular tradition.
2. something that is handed down: the traditions of the Eskimos.
3. a long-established or inherited way of thinking or acting: The rebellious students wanted to break with tradition.
4. a continuing pattern of culture beliefs or practices.

now,

read: –adjective
1. true; not merely ostensible, nominal, or apparent: the real reason for an act.
2. existing or occurring as fact; actual rather than imaginary, ideal, or fictitious: a story taken from real life.
3. being an actual thing; having objective existence; not imaginary: The events you will see in the film are real and not just made up.
4. being actually such; not merely so-called: a real victory.
5. genuine; not counterfeit, artificial, or imitation; authentic: a real antique; a real diamond; real silk.
6. unfeigned or sincere: real sympathy; a real friend.

I really don't see where you were going with that question..

Traditional americans are losing their nation? It means someone assumes that the United States belong to them in the first place. No, that is not true. That is self entitlement, rather arrogant actually.

A huge segment? What about the native americans, they're used to be a huge segment, and definitely traditional... I see, perhaps this is one of those karma is a she dog thing. Things change and now it's the 'traditional americans' turn, not a big deal, it's for a good cause.

Personally, I'd like to see this thread deleted and the OP warned for thinly veiled bigotry.

I'm all for Thomas Paine style 'radical pamphleting', declaring that U.S. people no longer have control of their country etc. Trying to rally the minutemen etc.

But this isn't it.

This is a continuance of a sad piece of diatribe by a tired old man, that finds himself in a world where he can't own black people or other minorities. A world where his evil, religious fundamentalist views aren't tolerated or given shrift. A world that no longer relies on rich white men to 'move and shake'.

I think the OP should go back to his porch in Mississippi and have a chew on some baccy for a while - cogitate his next slave purchase, and then perhaps read a book about human rights. You never know, he might learn something about what it is to be a TRUE AMERICAN. (You're still wearing your KKK hood by the way.)

Mr. President and fellow citizens of New York: -

The facts with which I shall deal this evening are mainly old and familiar; nor is there anything new in the general use I shall make of them. If there shall be any novelty, it will be in the mode of presenting the facts, and the inferences and observations following that presentation.

In his speech last autumn, at Columbus, Ohio, as reported in "The New-York Times," Senator Douglas said:

"Our fathers, when they framed the Government under which we live, understood this question just as well, and even better, than we do now."

I fully indorse this, and I adopt it as a text for this discourse. I so adopt it because it furnishes a precise and an agreed starting point for a discussion between Republicans and that wing of the Democracy headed by Senator Douglas. It simply leaves the inquiry: "What was the understanding those fathers had of the question mentioned?"

What is the frame of government under which we live?

The answer must be: "The Constitution of the United States." That Constitution consists of the original, framed in 1787, (and under which the present government first went into operation,) and twelve subsequently framed amendments, the first ten of which were framed in 1789.

Who were our fathers that framed the Constitution? I suppose the "thirty-nine" who signed the original instrument may be fairly called our fathers who framed that part of the present Government. It is almost exactly true to say they framed it, and it is altogether true to say they fairly represented the opinion and sentiment of the whole nation at that time. Their names, being familiar to nearly all, and accessible to quite all, need not now be repeated.

I take these "thirty-nine," for the present, as being "our fathers who framed the Government under which we live."

What is the question which, according to the text, those fathers understood "just as well, and even better than we do now?"

It is this: Does the proper division of local from federal authority, or anything in the Constitution, forbid our Federal Government to control as to slavery in our Federal Territories?

Upon this, Senator Douglas holds the affirmative, and Republicans the negative. This affirmation and denial form an issue; and this issue - this question - is precisely what the text declares our fathers understood "better than we."

Let us now inquire whether the "thirty-nine," or any of them, ever acted upon this question; and if they did, how they acted upon it - how they expressed that better understanding?

In 1784, three years before the Constitution - the United States then owning the Northwestern Territory, and no other, the Congress of the Confederation had before them the question of prohibiting slavery in that Territory; and four of the "thirty-nine" who afterward framed the Constitution, were in that Congress, and voted on that question. Of these, Roger Sherman, Thomas Mifflin, and Hugh Williamson voted for the prohibition, thus showing that, in their understanding, no line dividing local from federal authority, nor anything else, properly forbade the Federal Government to control as to slavery in federal territory. The other of the four - James M'Henry - voted against the prohibition, showing that, for some cause, he thought it improper to vote for it.

In 1787, still before the Constitution, but while the Convention was in session framing it, and while the Northwestern Territory still was the only territory owned by the United States, the same question of prohibiting slavery in the territory again came before the Congress of the Confederation; and two more of the "thirty-nine" who afterward signed the Constitution, were in that Congress, and voted on the question. They were William Blount and William Few; and they both voted for the prohibition - thus showing that, in their understanding, no line dividing local from federal authority, nor anything else, properly forbids the Federal Government to control as to slavery in Federal territory. This time the prohibition became a law, being part of what is now well known as the Ordinance of '87.

The question of federal control of slavery in the territories, seems not to have been directly before the Convention which framed the original Constitution; and hence it is not recorded that the "thirty-nine," or any of them, while engaged on that instrument, expressed any opinion on that precise question.

In 1789, by the first Congress which sat under the Constitution, an act was passed to enforce the Ordinance of '87, including the prohibition of slavery in the Northwestern Territory. The bill for this act was reported by one of the "thirty-nine," Thomas Fitzsimmons, then a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. It went through all its stages without a word of opposition, and finally passed both branches without yeas and nays, which is equivalent to a unanimous passage. In this Congress there were sixteen of the thirty-nine fathers who framed the original Constitution. They were John Langdon, Nicholas Gilman, Wm. S. Johnson, Roger Sherman, Robert Morris, Thos. Fitzsimmons, William Few, Abraham Baldwin, Rufus King, William Paterson, George Clymer, Richard Bassett, George Read, Pierce Butler, Daniel Carroll, James Madison.

Words continue to have meaning but lies and deceptions never reveal the truth. It should be clear to many now (and growing) that something has gone terribly wrong in what we here ("yes we can") and are now seeing, ie. thousands of jobs lost each day. What our "rulers" have claimed and continue to (twist) does not stem from a heart of truth and compassion but comes from greed, lust of power, selfishness both individually and cooperate. Its hard not to imagine a revolution as more and more individuals (now forming groups) will be forced to "go to war" over this constant twisting of the truth for evil gain. In all of this I continue to hope for a "better way", a way without lies and corruption. Such an incredible planet this world has become.

Although I do agree with most of your -rather radical- measures, I can't help but wonder how you think you can rhyme

- eliminate ALL laws - except Do no harm, Cause no loss

with this next statement:

- the media must be held accountable for bias, deception and propaganda - penalties must be severe (death in my opinion)

It seems rather contradictory, don't you think? Personally, I prefer this first statement...

This is clearly a generational issue based on the tone of some of the responses and you can look at it from different perspectives. I will look at it from the perspective of traditional values that are rooted in the manner in which you were raised. Naturally, my values were attained mostly through my hard working god fearing parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles. We are the descendants of Immigrants who left it all behind in Eastern Europe in search of a better life. Modern America was built on the backs and ideologies of these immigrants.

My parents were born in the early forties and are quite disturbed at the moral and ethical direction in which this country is heading. Rightfully so. I'm 37 and the father of two toddlers and I agree with them.

In todays's society kids can no longer be kids. They are assaulted with crap on TV, radio, internet, and film. Reality this reality that. The true reality is that all of the reality is just staged for entertainment value.

Grade school kids texting, playing video games and gabbing on phones on their walk home from school is ridiculous. No one is paying attention to their surroundings any longer and people are no longer paying attention to people. Emotional disconnect is running rampant in our virtual society.

Enough. I could ramble on forever. I want my kids to know the simple life of being a kid.

Now if I could only get my wife to stop checking her blackberry for work related emails.... when the day is OVER!! I won't even touch the internet and what it has done to reduce the patience level of modern america. Now Now Now blah blah blah

Yes, the once great and diverse America is disappearing faster with the passing of each day.

I am not white and I am not black.
"Things" are not better for myself or my neighbors since my parents time.
"Things" are not better for my children.
There are less jobs for all Americans, There is more debt, Sooner in life for all Americans.
Families are diminished, neighbor interaction is all but gone.
Fear is the dominant shared thought and emotion, fear of government, fear of skin color, fear of poverty, fear of attack, fear of the weather, fear of the next day, fear of today, and the worst in my opinion fear of making a choice to make a change.
My family no where in history ever owned slaves, ever as a whole taught bigotry or racial hatred, we TRADITIONALLY learned respect for our elders, contributed to the family in whatever way was needed, helped each other, visited neighbors and knew them well, were questioned on our school work and told to do the best we could, sought and maintained employment starting in youth, gathered with eachother several times throughout the year, it was by no means the perfect family, it wasnt leave it to beaver or happy days or the brady bunch or bill cosby's huxtables family.... but it was family and neighbors.
There were values and ethics and morals taught and expected.
There was contribution factor that you felt apart of, you couldnt just consume and not participate, you were taught to be autonomus and were helped along the way.
It was family that taught how to grow up but not grow away.

That family is all but dead and gone now, the bonds of the remaining are no longer a rope to eachother but are as thin as the strands of a spiders web,
low marriage success, low birth rates, relocations for employment, low interaction with eachother, neighbors changing every few years and industry leaving in droves it seems with every changing season of the year.
The grandmothers and fathers eliminated and consumed by the requirement that all able bodies will leave the home to make money to be able to pay the bills, no longer a family figure in place to be a central figure, a bonding agent, the position of parents we replaced, that position has been lost through attrition.
The school systems set up as babysitters busy on the phone handing out candy and putting in movies for the kids to watch in place of actual care.
The parents always at work, always away, always divided seeking that cash to pay that debt to buy the latest soon to break or be replaced poorly made gizmo...... wake up one day to a sad mess they somehow lived through in a hypnotic pre occupied unfulfilling daze to find that they lost what they had chased, lost what they once had, and couldnt accept that they were now responsible and passing this on as their legacy to their children.......whatever color they may be.

The "dirty, immoral war in Vietnam" explains why the "finest generation we have ever produced" is behaving like this, they said. We must deal with the "root causes" of social disorder.

I thought brainwashing was used to solve the root causes of social disorder. The time line of the experiments will either prove this point or dis prove it.

Kinda reminds me of the saying Evolve or die. This is not the America I grew up in. Thank god. The America I grew up in was white bread boring. I enjoy lots of diversity. I enjoy strange new things. I enjoy chasing the ever elusive American dream, and I enjoy it better when that dream changes.

Sorry Archie Bunker ain't coming back.

Just one definition of "traditional American" might be "pre-political correctness".

I am wondering about the definition of "Traditional American" as well. I am "pre-political correctness. Not only was I around before it came about, I am totally against political correctness. I do believe in respecting, honoring and the equal treatment of my fellow Americans (and planet dwellers), but I believe political correctness is a direct assault on Free Speech, it's gone too far and it's a protection put in place for people who can't deal with their own feelings and think they have a right NOT to be offended.

But somehow I highly doubt that you see me as one of your fellow "Traditional Americans". So I'm going to call shenanigans on your definition and ask that you provide a REAL definition of what it means. (And I'll remind you that I provided you with a list of things that you asked for recently. I'd appreciate the same treatment in return.)
