I spent six months following a band of 'Chrstians' as they preached on the streets of Miami.

Is this love or hate in these images?

I never said that ALL war was created through religion, just that religion has caused death and pain throughout history, done in the name of "good", whereas hardly any injury has come from the so called satanists in comparison. I'm not saying either are right, I'm saying all are wrong.

The witch trials, the crusades, human sacrifices by the Aztecs etc, the Asian Caste systems, people being stoned to death for blasphemy or heracy, Buddist monks setting themselves on fire, the holocaust, the Taliban, female circumcision, the entire suppression of female rights throughout many religions and regions of the world. These are just a few examples of pain and suffering caused in the name of religion

Ok but why you and the likes of You try to put all the blame upon the Christianity...Catholic Church precisely. The witch hunts and the heretics killing was seemingly more frequent in the protestant religion. As for the Crusades: if you look deeper it was the war for survival of the Christian Europe. Do You really prefer to live in the world of Islam?! And it was that ugly, bad Crusaders that gave us (among the many others Christian Warriors)that last1000 years.

Intolerance is not a bad word. It is a matter of conviction. I don't tolerate murder, hate, stealing, etc. Christians (the real ones) do not tolerate sin they convict it for what it is. Christians should never think intolerance is a bad thing. It leads to compromise and selling yourself to this present evil world.

What of compassion....that's a central tenant of Christianity. I believe compassion, being love, trumps all in your new testament....yet so rarely in the real world.

The NUMBER 1 reason people hate Christianity is because they can't cope with a belief that requires them to have personal accountability for their actions.

*Taptaptap* Umm, Excuse me?! I'll say about half to 2/3 of Christians I know do everything INCLUDING trying to get away with murder- and then have the attitude of 'No worries! JESUS will forgive me! It's all good!" I can cite precedent till I melt the keyboard.

Try again, yo. Next excuse?

I study yoga. When I first got into yoga I went to a local Hindu temple and asked one of the priests 'how would I go about converting to Hinduism?' He laughed and said 'you cannot be converted because you already are.' What a nonabrasive way to win someones devotion!

The same priest would also encourage me to study the bible, particularly the words of Christ because, as I was raised Christian, I would be more familiar and thus receptive to these teachings rather than having to translate the Bhagavad Gita or any other Hindu book into my cultural understandings.

I mention this to suggest that perhaps Christianity, Judaism etc. get the most bad press on this site because they are the most familiar religions to the people visiting this site.

I'm sorry that there are people out there that feel like they're left out because of their beliefs. But rather than widening the divide by focusing on small issues like support for individual wars maybe we should try to identify the common ground; i.e. we all want peace on the planet and to end suffering for everyone everywhere.

A lot of evil has been done in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and it continues today.

I say this time and time again, the LORD Jesus Christ and the apostles warned us of false prophets, false teachers, and false christs. Because people are ignorant of the Word of God and do NOT learn the scriptures and get baptised by the Holy Spirit, HOW are you ever going to know the difference between a "true christian" and a "false christian"?

Lumping all christians together in one mold is like lumping all the bad and good in one mold. But in order to protect yourself from the "bad fruit", you have to know what the truth is, just like this swine flu crap. Who do you believe, should I take the shot, should I not take the shot?

Research and diligence in any matter is the answer and then making your own judgment. But there are many "good christians" out there trying to undo what the bad christians have done and continue to do in the LORD Jesus Christ's name.

I was raised in a Christian home, and most of my beloved family members are Christian. So what I have to say on the topic doesn't come from a place of hatred. BUT....

to answer your question, why is there such a desire to destroy Christianity specifically? It's simple: the gaping disparity between Jesus' moral teachings and the commonly unChrist-like practices, beliefs, attitudes etc. of the folks who are supposed to follow his teachings.

And I'm not talking here about the large-scale examples like the Crusades or even the Eric Rudolphs of the world. I'm talking about your common, everyday Christians. For example, how could my next-door neighbor honestly call himself a follower of Jesus Christ while supporting the death penalty? or being pro-war? a racist? or against welfare?

In other words, Christianity is hated so much because it is the most hypocritical of religions. Why this is the case, I'm not sure. But I think it has to do with at least these two things:

1). Bad Bible Editing. The fact that the Jewish "history" in the OT and the teachings of Christ are somehow sandwiched into the same book is one the worst "mash ups" in world history. For example, does God want us to stone homosexuals on sight or love them unconditionally? Or when another country disagrees with us, should we kill all the men, enslave the women and carry off the livestock of our enemies or should we love them as ourselves? Most often people just end up cherry-picking the parts from each book that serve their existing prejudices.

2). The Faith "Cop Out." Any religion that grants salvation based not upon deeds but on faith alone is bound to tick off nonbelievers. Christians don't actually have to be Christ-like (which is pretty damn difficult, I might add) to get into Heaven; they only have to BELIEVE he was the Son of God to get their "Get Out of Hell Free Card." At least Muslims "submit" to God. All Christians are really required to do is a accept something. What a moral cop out.

the end

There was no person named Jesus. Jesus or the Son is simply a metaphor for.. the Sun. All Christianity is is a sun worshiping religion. As a matter of fact it shouldn't even be called a "religion". So, no, Jesus never died on a cross. But yes, the sun does go down a degree every day of the year, creating the metaphor of "dieing". And no Judas did not kiss jesus to "identify" him. It is a metaphor for the time when the sun passes the Zodiac sign Scorpio. When a scorpion bites you it leaves two cuts which look like lips. Giving you the phrase "kiss of death". Then the sun continues to "fall", giving you the season "fall". Then the sun "falls to its death" in Capricorn. The sun remains at the exact same degree (the lowest point it gets through its cycle) for 3 days. Giving you the metaphor in the bible of Jesus being dead for 3 days. The sun then raises 1 degree on the 25th of december, giving you the "resurrection of Jesus".

Its all just a metaphor haha. Along with every other religion. All based on ancient astrology.

That's ok. We agree to disagree. Glad for your contribution.

This is a question only you can answer for yourself
You can not depend on the opinions of other people

You have to forget everything you were ever told since the day you were born
you have to research research research
And figure out things for yourself, You would be surprised. I keep getting new surprises myself everyday.
I am a christian, I do not follow the teaching I have learned through out my life.

The bible tells a story. Then man alters story into a new reality
Jesus says himself He is the son of man. Not they son of god
We turned him into the son of god.

All religions where made to separate people
We are all the same we all come from the same "god"
We all having living flesh maybe different colors
That does not change the fact we all have the same soul

You have a very odd understanding of Chrisianity as a self proclaimed Christianity.

Jesus was killed BECAUSE HE PROCALIMED HIMSELF the son of God.

You can put 4 whells on and call yourself a car, but that don't make you a car.

I sure as heck have no idea what the heck a whells is or where it would go on a car but that's not your only "interpretation" flaw (btw, cool usage of Malcolm X's 'biscuits' comment) as well as a person claiming to be a christian not a "Chrisianity", but I digress....
Jesus told Pilate "YOU HAVE SAID IT" - please stop making the same mistake that others made by reading "new" bibles - especially if you don't know what the heck is going on. That is a bad as putting in a non working car stereo and saying you only glanced at the instructions.
As for the guy you just tried to slam, he was saying he use to be a christian until things got complicated. See, unlike most, Christians don't kill other Christians because they "jump ship" so next time try reading what is being said, not what you want said.
Now with that said, why don't you all get off of this? All of this end game nonsense only serves those that want to serve you - and not in a good way. There are other things that we can use to pull together without completing the NWO agenda a head of schedule.

Since when did discouraging safe sex count as "care"? The Catholic church is more likely the largest contributor to the spread of AIDS world wide.

The other points are nearly as weak, but the AIDS one just makes my brain ache. Come on now.

All the Catholic Church is saying is "Keep it in your pants." Are we animals? We can't stop?

BTW...the other facts are completely true. Sorry the truth hurts bubba.

THAT is one of the most ignorant things Christians say! It is saying "your beliefs are wrong, my beliefs are right, and I will pray that you come to my truth."

Christians love saying this; ironic almost that they don't recognize it is painfully judgmental!

(but hey! At least you used correct grammar!)

The unfortunate thing about the Internet is that sarcasm is not easily detected. It was supposed to be redundant, comical if you will. I didn't actually mean it (although I could if they wanted) but I was being sarcastic because I know how infuriated the poster would of been upon reading that and thinking I was serious.

Yet not a word about the flaws of Islam, or Hinduism or Paganism. Heck...Paganism is seen as the end all be all of the "truth" whatever the heck that is.

Islam is always knocked here. I don't know what you are talking about. Sounds like you have a persecution complex to me.

Islam and Christianity are both alike in the sense that they both expect everyone to say, "Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right. Damn it you're right." The only thing is, how can you be right when there is a world war going on that is nothing less than a religious war between both Islam and Christianity.

You see, what I have noticed is that Christians and Muslims want to talk about Paganism like it's this GREAT EEEEEEVIL. Yet, hmmmmm, I don't see Pagans trying to get the world to conform to exactly what they believe. Hmmmmm.

Double check your facts my friend.

Obama sees America as the "Problem" to be solved. Peolsi and Reid are rabid haters. Sorros is the money bringing down America. MSNBC/CNN/CBS/ABC/BBC DISPISE AMERICA!

You are so right. It was 19 Christians flying those planes on Sept 11. (Please don't go conspiracy...not the time or place.)

What in the world is that supposed to mean?

Cause if muslims attacked our country, that would be good enough reason to attack all muslims right?

Muslims simply will KILL YOU if you don't convert or pay tax.

Man that is scary.

You're exactly right. But the bible does instruct people to kill all non-believers.
And people who like shellfish, naughty children and gays to name a few.

So when christians rant about muslims being instructed to kill infidels they are conveniently ignoring their own holy book. After all, Islam and christianity both have their roots in judaism.

You are absolutely right in your statements. Kudos for being correct.
May I add...The Christian religion doesn't kill ANYONE today for shellfish, or naughty kids or being gay. Muslims are TODAY building walls and dropping them on gays. They are raping women before execution. They are forcibly circumcising women. et. al...

For hundreds of years Christianity persecuted everyone and everything that disagreed with it. It bred war, famine, ignorance, racism, slavery and tyranny unimaginable today. Heresy was punishable by torture and death. And then, all of a sudden, Christianity tapered off and every Christian wanted to be your best friend.

After all those centuries of atrocity did you honestly believe Karma wasn't going to catch up? It was Jesus who said you Reap what you Sow, Christians sowed death and blood when they were supposed to teach peace, now they teach peace and in many places are faced by persecution.

I don't understand why it matters though when Jesus himself said Christians would be persecuted (not that I buy into all that, just saying). Why is it perceived as a threat if the Christian religion is put under scrutiny or questioned? Why should it damage someone's faith to use reason and logic to interpret religion? If God is real reason and logic should not be his enemy, science and knowledge should expand our knowledge of the "divine".

I find it odd how against Christians are to any questioning of their religion when their way is supposed to be the tough one, the narrow way, the path of greatest resistance. Do they believe God will punish them merely for the act of questioning their beliefs and what they were told to believe by men?

I suppose there are a few hardcore atheists around who want to kill religion once and for all but they are a minority, what good is faith left unchallenged? If anything faith left unchallenged would be monstrous, we'd still be living under tyrannical rule of some psuedoreligious dictator/King

Absolutely correct. The horrors caused by Christianity are numerous. So are the horrors caused by Islam and the Mayans and the Jews and the Hindus and the Communists and the Socialists...

I gues just the Christians ones matter?

Christians are trying to clean up their act. I guess foregiveness only applies to YOU? In the words of reverend Wright "Christianities chickens?"

Now, if you want to say that people are trying to destroy the so-called religions of Abraham, you may have an argument. I suggest you look back through history and at what is currently happening to understand why.

Thank you so much for your input. I LOVE your country and it's people. Been there twice.

All I ask is seperate the people from the religion. People hate...not God.

God asks one thing. Ok. Two things.
1. Treat others as you would yourself.
2. Treat yourself with respect.

Feed the hungry. House the homeless. Help them see that it was not YOU that gave them these gifts...it was GOD that gave you the ability. He breathed life into you. He gave you the desire. And others will do the same and so on and so on.

I haven't heard the entire thread because frankly I don't feel like sitting through 8 pages of drivel from people who don't know anything about Christianity other than what hate websites tell them. The NUMBER 1 reason people hate Christianity is because they can't cope with a belief that requires them to have personal accountability for their actions. This is evidenced by the fact that so many people quote the Bible in a negative light without knowing enough about the circumstances to resolve it properly. Also, anyone who says that Christians are the cause of soooooo many wars and horrors failed History 101.

This might get deleted because of the tone, but I don't care. I'm sick of seeing all the lies and filth from people who proffess to pursue "truth".

As a Catholic I ask you to "love your neighbor." It is easy to get angry. Try turning your cheek "77 times."

We are trying to help people see the good in God not the bad in us.
