Haunted Prison(pics included)

Last week I had myself a little paranormal experience. I figured my friends on ATS would enjoy my experience. So my girlfriend's dad works for the prison here in town. However, there's this other prison that's much much older that is basically closed down and not open to the public or whatever. I think it might be considered a historic landmark so they can't demolish it. Well since he works for the other prison I guess once a year they open the other one up for tours for just fellow prison guards. So he invited both of us to go.

So the whole ride there he was talking about how he used to work at the older prison in the early 1980's and swears up and down that its haunted. Now keep in mind this man is a harden prison guard. He's been through a lot of stuff he survived three prison riots where prisoners basically took over for a short time. I guess the reason he got transfer to the newer prison was because he got jumped by 4 prisoners in a stairwell and held them off for while they were all trying to shank and kill him. So this guy doesn't scare easy but just the look in his eye while he was explaining the paranormal things that happened to him there was unsettling. I could tell in the back of his mind he was kind of scared going back there.

So we head inside and he shows us all these cool things. They still have old school torture boxes in the yard where its basically just a 4 foot by 4 foot box they just threw people in to die from way back in the day. I guess they also filmed some of that show prison break there. There were scripts and stuff lying around everywhere. He shows us secret officer hallways that go behind the jail cells. There a secret peep hole for every cell. I thought that was kind of shady lol....So after that we are going down these stairs when all of a sudden I feel a strong force push me right over my butt lol....I flew down like three steps and caught myself on the bars on one of the windows...If I didn't catch myself I defiantly would have been seriously injured.

I knew it was a ghost cause right after it happened I felt a cold rush and my hairs stood on end. I frantically started taking pictures in attempts to see something. The tour continued to the wardens office. I started going through all the drawers and what not looking for more prison break paraphernalia lol. I found a pair of old school ass hand cuffs with a little key. The second I took the hand cuffs out I felt really cold like I just pissed off a ghost or something. I could totally sense a negative vibe outta no where...He then took us to the mental ward part of the place and where they used to sentence people to death and what not. I thought for sure if I was gonna catch anything on film it would be in there. After that I had to go to work so I kinda had to dip out early not taking as many pictures as I wanted really.

So immediately after work I double checked all my photos to make sure I didn't miss anything. There were a few orbs on some of them but those could be explained away as like dust particles or something(they probably were). As I got to the last picture kinda sad that I didn't get anything. I noticed something pretty crazy on the very last picture. Now I showed this pic to some of my friends and they gave me weird looks and what not. Hopefully you guys will be a little more open minded. Since I told you guys of the events that happened. SSooooo with out further ado here's the pic




You can clearly see a old prison guard to the left of my gf....I would even say you can see his badge or arm patch or whatever. Whats your guys opinion?

P.S. I just want everyone to know I don't go around stealing things. The only reason I did it was because my gf whispered in my ear "we can use those later" Thinking about it now I kinda feel shady lol...Heres a question for someone who might know more about ghosts and stuff. Since I took those hand cuffs from the wardens office could they some how be cursed or something to that effect. Basically could I have just brought bad vibes back to my house from the prison?

from my limited understanding of these sorts of things, yes you could have brought some sort of spirits with you, that is if the actual handcuffs were haunted.

as for the pic, i will say at first i just scrolled down expecting to see a typical fakery..and noticed you, then your girl's head, and was like..wow...this is going to get flamed.

then i read it, and noticed the guy figure to the left of her. i don't know what it could be, but it's cool looking. i'm interested to find out if anyone can disprove this...i hope not, always love good ghost stories.

So you're saying that the Prison Break team trashed an historic landmark building with so little consequences that it wasn't even cleaned up later?
Then you find and take equipment that would have been issued, signed for and registered... just lying around?
The pic is interesting enough, but considering your story, sorry but I tend to go with FAKE.

I'll take a shot... Is it not the face of the individual taking the picture, and if not, would you explain?

Thanks for the pics, your cuffs arn't old school though and the big kiy is a standard foldger Adams key (just fyi) freaky pic I work behing bars and I often see wierd stuff no cameras alowed though

Ya know, I don't want to but I gotta say, that office looks quite lushly appointed for an abandoned prison. Being an historic landmark, that would make sense, except for only letting other guards in.

Landmarks are open to the public.

Not sure I buy it...photoshopping does wonders these days.

i notice you say in a later reply that your GFs little sister took the picture. however, that contradicts your op where u make the clam that he "invited us both" refering to your GF and yourself.. so where does her sister come into this story? just pointing out a minor hole in this claim

It doesn't look like Mansfield Prison in that office. (Mansfield, OH) unless they left the dressing from one of the many movies that have had footage shoot there. (Air Force One, Shawshank Redemption, etc).

However from your description, Mansfield was the first place that popped in my head. They do give tours around Halloween. There is quite a waiting list since they only allow so many people per tour and you get to spend the night there. My cousin has done it once and has plans for me and a friend of ours to go in the future, with equipment. Might be a year or two depending on the waiting list.

That is a photo hanging on the wall. I have been there. I am awaiting my friend to bring our pics down this weekend to verify I have the same thing in our pics. I wanted to add. I am not 100% but I believe it is a picture of Martin Luther King Jr

He drove me and my gf there. His wife drove the other sister in another car....The prison is located in IL...

That does have a slight resembelance to MLK and the thing that looks like a badge is something sitting on the shelf.

If my memory serves me correctly...defiantly not the case.

i was going to say the same thing in my earlier reply but side tracked by other subject matter. But to me this is obvious.

This was a prison that's been abandoned for like 10 years people...Its not like this office was fully furnished with nick nacks.

it was exactly that.. abandoned. thigs get left behind in such events. perfect example, the handcuffs..aside from movies made there, if thats the case whos to say it wasnt laying there broken and someone used that office even if just to relax between scenes picked it up and put it back on the wall, or even for the tours they do. do u think they would rather leave it strewn on the floor or hang it for a better look into what the place once looked like. if you really look at it long and hard u will see this to be a photo.. with your theory are you also telling me than the other stuff on the walls are also ghosts. or the lamp is a ghost? it was abandoned remeber.. things were not just left behind aye?
