Your Melee Weapon

<<  1    2    3    4  >>

Topic started on 19-10-2009 @ 04:12 PM by 2Resistance

Short and simple question what is your Ideal melee weapon?

I want to see the different weapons of different people and why you choose that particular weapon.

Me personality I would have to say my crowbar though I own machetes and other melee weapons I think my crowbar has the most uses. Like opening locked doors or prying open other locked things plus the damage you can inflict with solid steel bar with a hooked end is formidable. One draw back would probably be weight.

Zombie apocalypse or just normal apocalypse? If it is a zombie apocalalypse I'll have to go with lawnmower:

Normal apocalypse I will go with sais.

I guess you are saying, What everyday item would you use to defend yourself if it came down to it?

Obviously this would need to be something you have nearby all of the time. I've got a short, wooden handled shovel that I carry with me hunting and hiking. It is like the old Soviet army shovels. Lots of uses, lightweight and the blade is kept quite sharp.

It is good for a multitude of functions, even cutting small logs in a pinch.

It would be suitable for a hand to hand or throwing weapon too.

I think it qualifies as a 'melee' weapon.

Ill take an aluminum baseball bat.

My second choice would be a wooden bat.

Maybe I've played too much Half-Life, but I'd have to go with the good ole crowbar

My primary choice would be my Cold Steel Kukri.
Razor sharp, sturdy enough to be used for everything an axe or crowbar can do and small enough to compliment your bug out bag or combat gear without being cumbersome.

I've seldom seen such a versatile tool.

Second choice would be a trenching tool / folding shovel.

Third choice: whatever I find in my immediate environment that helps me in my particular situation... you know you're borderline paranoid when you're in your office and start to analyze the combat potential of a flip-chart

It would have to be a machete or a samurai sword.....and a proper made samurai sword, not a crappy cheap one.

Both have the advantage of being light to use and are easily carried in a sheath

It's probably not the best idea in the world, but I can't shake it, so I'm gonna toss it out there.

Chainsaw

It would have to be light enough to wield one handed (evil dead 2 anyone?), long bar, or maybe on the end of a pole, like those branch cutting chainsaws.
Who's going to go hand to hand with a chainsaw guy, right?

Gerber Silver Trident

A good survival knife is necessary for normal survival situations, and can be used to defend yourself if the need arises. It doesn't have the reach of a crowbar or baseball bat, but it's significantly lighter and more versatile, and arguably more deadly.

I've got a machete, a bad ass knife, a baseball bat, and a 9mm.

In a get-out-of-dodge shtf scenario, I'd grab the machete and run with it.

I do like the crowbar idea, though! hmmmm ...
